INTRODUCTION

For this analysis, we selected the ethos projected by the south-korean group TWICE in their
song named ‘’feel special’’. The lyric of the song will be analyzed with the objective of
understanding what kind of feelings and messages the song tries to convey

A corpus will be offered in order to contextualize the song. In that corpus, information about
the song and the group will be collected. After the analysis, there will be a conclusion in
which the discoveries made during the analysis will be written. Finally, there will be a section
called “Pedagogical implications” in which possible applications of the discoveries made
during the analysis to the field of education will be proposed.

Objectives
1- To analyze the song and its rhetorical figures.

2- To understand the ‘’Pathos’’ that is conveyed trhough the lyrics.

3- Analyze why it is so influential in its genre.

Context
TWICE is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment through the program
called Sixteen. The group consists of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo,
Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Twice officially debuted on October 20, 2015 with
the release of the mini album The Story Begins.

In 2016, Twice rose to stardom with the single "Cheer Up", which topped the Gaon Digital
Chart as the most popular song of the year. year" at two of South Korea's most important
awards, the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards. "TT" from the mini-

From a pathos perspective, which focuses on emotions and emotional persuasion, we can
look at how K-pop has affected young people and why it has resonated so much with them.
First of all, K-pop is known for its catchy music and high-quality production. Young people
are especially receptive to music that makes them feel good and energizes them, and K-pop
offers just that. The songs often have catchy, sing-along lyrics, and the music videos are filled
with elaborate choreography, stunning visuals, and stories that try to connect with the
consumer that is the general public. These stories have backgrounds and progress through the
songs and albums, stories that coax reality, book-style, but without the need to read. These
music videos advance to tell stories and generate great euphoria, happiness or suspense,
connecting with viewers in a sentimental and effective way. All of this combines to create an
emotionally satisfying experience for young people who enjoy pop music.

Additionally, many K-pop groups have a strong focus on image and style, which allows them
to connect with youth in a deeper way. Young people are at a stage in their lives where they
are discovering their own identity and experimenting with different styles and fashions. K-
pop groups offer a wide variety of stylistic options that can be imitated or tailored to
individual youth preferences. This can lead to a greater emotional connection to the artists
and their music.

Selling over 250,000 copies, Twice became the first K-pop girl group to receive a platinum
certification with a song in Japanese by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Twice
ranked third as one of the most popular artists. best sellers of the year on the Billboard Japan
chart.

Twice have enjoyed much success in the international market, becoming the first South
Korean girl group to top both the Billboard World Albums and World Digital Song Sales
charts, when they released their first studio album Twicetagram and lead single "Likey" in
2017. With With the release of the single "Feel Special" in 2019, Twice became the third
Korean female artist to enter the Canadian Hot 100 chart.

Twice signed in 2020 with Republic Records for promotional activities in the United States
as part of a partnership with JYP Entertainment. The group entered the Billboard 200 with
More & More and Eyes Wide Open in 2020, Taste of Love and Formula of Love: O + T = <3
in 2021. Twice's first English-language single "The Feels" became a hit. their first song to
enter the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart, reaching number 83 and 80 on these
charts, respectively.

because of the rain.

The continuation of the 3rd image, we see Nayeon again who decided to leave the club and
started to talk with her umbrella under the rain.
