Chapter No 1:
Characteristics and life process of organisms)

• There are 4 types of teeth. They are incisors, Canines,

Premolar and molar.

• Incisors: These teeth are used for biting and cutting food.

• Canines: Piercing and tearing food.

• Premolar: Chewing and grinding food.

• Molar: Chewing and grinding food.

• Skeleton: All bones are united with one other at the joints
forming a frame called Skelton.

• Types of bone: Skull, Bone of arm, Ribs, Bone of spine,

Hipbone, bone of hand, bone of leg, bone of knee joint, bone of
ankle.

• Lungs are surrounded by ribs and keep on expending and

contracting.

• The exchange of oxygen between blood and air takes place in

the lungs.

• The heart works continuously like a pump throughout the life

• Heart circulates blood all over the body through blood vessels.

• Stomach is present on the left side below the heart. Stomach is

the biggest part of digestive track.

• Stomach secretes digestive juice.

• Muscles work with the bones and joints to help you move
hands, arm, feet and legs.

• Our hearts pumps blood with the help of muscles

• Stems of plants transport water and minerals to the leaves

absorbed by the root.

• The animals have been divided into two groups; the

vertebrates and invertebrates.

• The plants have been divided into two major groups; the
flowering and non- flowering plants.

• The number and kinds of living things found at a particular

place is called biodiversity.

• The function of leaves is to make food and produce oxygen.

• The function of flowers is to produce seed and the function of

seeds is to produce new plants.

Chapter 2
(Ecosystem)
• The living and non living components of any environment
make the ecosystem.

• The non living components of an ecosystem are called abiotic

components.

• The living components of an ecosystem are called biotic

components.

• Plants produce food for themselves and for animals so they

are producers.

• The living things which obtain their food from other living
things are called Consumers.

• Decomposers: The living things-which break down the dead

bodies of

• plants and animals into simple components and obtain their

food from these, are called decomposers. Bacteria and fungi
are main decomposers.

• Food Chain: To obtain food living things depend on one

another.
• Plants make food with the help of sunlight and water so they
are called producers.

• The animals which eat plants are called herbivores, for

example
• rabbit, goat, deer and cow.

• The animals which eat other animals are called carnivores, for
example lion, tiger, crocodile and shark.

• The animals which eat both plants and animals are called
omnivores for example man, bear, birds and crow, etc.

• Producer make food, which is used by herbivores.

• The herbivores are eaten by carnivores.

• These carnivores may be eaten by other carnivores.

• The series of eating and being eaten in an ecosystem is called

food chain.

• The animal which eats by killing another living things is called

a predator for example lion, tiger, shark and lizard.

• The living thing which is killed and eaten by the predator is

called a prey. for example zebra, deer, rat and fish.

Chapter 3
(Human Health)
• Human body temperature is 98.6°F or 37C°C.

• Cough is due to the soreness and scratchiness of the throat.

• The diseases which can be transmitted from one person to an

other persons is called contagious disease. Flue, TB, COVID-19
Etc.

• The diseases which can not be transmitted from one person to

an other persons is called Non- contagious disease. Diabetes
and cancer etc.

• Polio is a dangerous which may cause life long disability. Polio

is caused by Virus.

• TB is caused by Bacteria.

(matter and its characteristics)

• Matter occurs in three states.

• Quantity of matter is called mass.

• Space of an object occupies is called its volume.

• In solid the particles are strongly attached with each other.

• In liquid the particles are near to each other.

• The particles in gases are at more distance from each other.

• The objects that allows heat to pass are called conductor

example iron, copper etc.

• The objects that do not allow heat to pass are called non-
conductors example wood, rubber etc.

• The mass present in a definite volume is called its density.

• Metals are good conductors of electricity and heat.

• The ability to do work is called energy.

• The biggest source of energy is sun.

• Energy is produced from fast flowing water is called as

hydroelectricity.

• The light is a form of energy that helps us to see things around

us.

• Energy travels in all direction in straight lines.

• The are seven colors in sunlight ( violet, indigo, blue, green,

orange red).

• The sound is a form of energy that is produced by vibrations

in all objects.

• Heat is a form of energy that always travels from a hot objects

to the cold objects .

• Mercury is present in thermometer to help the checking of

temperature.

• Electrical energy is transformed into other forms of energy like

heat, light and sound.

Chapter 6
(force and motion).
• The act of pushing or pulling a body is called force.

• A force acting on a body can change its shape. For example, if

we press an empty can, it will be compressed.

• An object changing its position with respects to it's

surroundings is called motion.

• The Earth pulls bodies toward itself with a specific force. This
force called gravity.

• Friction is the force that stops or tends to stop moving objects.

• Friction occurs when a body moves in contact with another

body.

• Friction always acts against the direction of movement.

• Every thing that makes our work easir is called a machine.

• A lever is a simple machine that can be used to push or lift

heavy objects.

• The lever is like a simple rod that turns around a certain point
called fulcrum.

• A pulley is a simple machine consist of a grooved wheel and a

rope.

• Gear is a simple machine which consists toothed wheels of

different sizes.

Chapter 7
(Earth and its resource)
• The basic materials that human get from land, sea and air are
called natural resources.

• About 97% of the water present on earth is in the occens.

• 3% is present in glaciers, rivers, streams and lakes.

• Forests provide natural habitats for animals.

• Forests cover 5.2% of the total area of Pakistan. .

• Pakistan largest natural forest is located in Ziarat Balochistan.

• Crude oil found underground is a major source of energy for

humans.

• Natural gas is used for heating, to generate electricity , cooking

food and as fertilizers.

• The solid non-living chemicals present in the earth are called

minerals.

• Some natural resources such as coal, petrol, diesel and natural

gas take millions of years to form. Such limited resources are
called non-renewable resources. Once they are used, they can
not be replaced by new ones easily.

• The unlimited sources which can be replaced after use are

called renewable resources. Air, water , soil, soler energy etc

Chapter 08
( Earths weather and climate)
• The daily condition of environment or atmosphere of a location
is called weather.

• Weather is described in terms of temperature, humidity in air,

precipitation, clouds and wind..

• Barometer is instrument to measure the air pressure.

• Anemometer is used to measure the speed and condition of air.

• Rain gauge is used to measure the amount of rain .

• Thermometer is used to measure the temperature of air.

• The Climate or weather changes of any region depended upon

falling of sun rays vertically or slanting.

• Tropical Zone: Tropical Zone consists of the regions located

around the equator. Here, the Sun rays fall vertically. That is
why the climate of this zone is hot.

• Temperate Zone Temperate Zone is located between Tropical

and Polar Zones. Here, the Sun rays fall slant. The climate of
this zone is mild due to weak Sun rays.

• Polar zone: It consists of the areas around the North and South
poles of earth. Here the sun's rays are more slanted and weak.
Therefore the climate of this zone is the closed.

• Sun is a huge sphere of burning gases that emits light and heat.

• The closest star to earth is the Sun.

• The first and closest planet to the Sun is Mercury.

• Thin Moon is called crescent.

• Diameter of Moon is about 3,500 Kilometers.

• The revolution of the Earth around the Sun is called orbital

motion.

• The earth completes one revolution around the Sun in about

365 days.

• Sometimes the Earth comes between the sun and the Moon.
Due to it the sunlight does not reach the moon is called Lunar
eclipse.

• Sometime, during its rotation around the Earth, the Moon

comes between the Earth and the Sun. In this condition, the
Sun is hidden behind the Moon and is not visible from the
Earth. A shadow of the Moon falls on the Earth. It is called
