Research Question: What are the effects of the computer and mobile games towards
the students?
What could be the reason why students are addictive to this kind of games/devices?
Purpose of the Study: The findings of this study will determine the cause and effect of
computer and mobile games among college students. This information can be
used to study the psychological effect of these devices to improve the
recommended limit of using these devices. Furthermore, the study will contribute
to widened the understanding of the computer and mobile games that the
students are addicted for.
Activity 2 | Designing a Qualitative Research
Research Title: The Impact of Excessive Use of Computer and Mobile Games
Among St. Vincent’s College Incorporated (SVCI) Students.
Research Question: What are the effects of the computer and mobile games towards
the students?
What could be the reason why students are addictive to this kind of games/devices?
Hypothesis: The habit on using the computer and mobile phone problems we’re
usually faced by students, because of the adverse academic performance and health
problems, lack of time management and safety.
Data Collection: The researcher will gather data using interviews with a purposive
sample of Thirty (30) College students. Selection of participants will be based on their
capacity and desire to take part in the study. The participants will be recruited via email
or word of mouth, will be sent to students at the school. The interview will not last for an
hour the interview will only take less than 30 minutes until the all the questions are
answered and the participant is satisfied for his/her answers. Then the researchers will
review the interview and analyze it for further studies.
Sample and Recruitment: Thirty (30) students will be chosen those who were
excessively using mobile or computer from Saint Vincent College Incorporated (SVCI).
The selection of the participants will be base on their desire to be part of the study and
their capacity to answer all the questions in the interview to share their insights
regarding to excessive use of these devices.
