READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.

This paper consists of two sections; Sections A and B.

Sections A and B consists of THREE questions each (Six (6) questions in total.)

Students must attempt ALL questions in these sections. Answers for these questions

should be written in this booklet.

All working out MUST be CLEARLY shown.

The use of non-programmable calculators are allowed, but students should note that the

use of an appropriate number of figures in answers will be penalized.

Do not turn over this sheet unless you are told to do so.

(ii) A group is trying to find the volume of a given liquid. To do this, they are using a graduated
cylinder that is graduated by milliliters. They pour the substance into the graduated cylinder and
take their reading. One group member says there are 25.5mL. Another group member says it’s
25mL exactly and a third group member says they think it’s 25.6mL. Discuss the possible
sources of error of this measurement.
