NATURE OF WORK

These present work concerns the construction of a two storey building for MR TAMFU
JULIUS RINYU ;These buildings shall be constructed on a surface area of 680m2 .The
foundation height varies with respect to the slope but the least shall be 60 for the trenches

Descriptive notes

1.1 Preparatory Works

Cleaning and removing of stems and roots of trees, access to the site, positioning of signboard,
and possible construction of a temporary fence

1.2 Setting Out

pegging of the building following site bloc plan

Ø Geometric traffics( from the plan to the ground) and positioning of boards and pegs,
Ø Altitudes ( reference level) defining the datum level.

Control of the measurements with existing limits and levels for the evacuation networks

1.3 Earthwork

Cleaning off the vegetable soil from the surface area that the construction will occupy. This earth
will be stocked temporarily for future usage. Thickness of 30cm depending on the site condition.

Ø Excavation of the trenches will be manually.

Ø Trench Width :60cm for 20cm thick walls and the depth will depend upon the following
conditions
• Minimum depth: 100cm
• Depth must go down to good foundation soil ( equilibrium of the construction)

1.4 Foundation

Ø Lean concrete of thickness 5cm and dosage 150kg/m3

Ø Continuous foundation footings in over site concrete of thickness 10cm under the
foundation walls dosage 150kg/m3
Ø Pad footings ( square or rectangular) under the pillars will be in reinforced concrete and
dosage 350kg/m3
Ø Ground bean of section 0.20m x 0.30m for 15 thick walls be in reinforced concrete and
dosage of 305kg/m3

Remarks
Material Preparation

Ø Concrete

Characteristic resistance at 28 days fc 28-25.00(MPa)

Unit weight=2500( kg/m3)

Dosage of concrete 150 to 350kg/m3

Concrete cover 3 ent

Ø Steel

Longitudinal reinforcement type HA fe = 400mpa

Transversal renforcement type HA fe = 400mpa

Ø Calculations

Calculations according to BAEL 91

Seismic disposition for seismic, the structure has to act as single unit ( solid concrete slab).

Concrete slenderness taken into account

More than 50percent loads applied before 90 days .

1.5 Foundation walls and supplementary works

Ø Blocks 20cm fill with concrete at 105kg/m3

Ø Backfill of the foundation with all in aggregates and compaction thickness 25cm to give a
good plat form for the oversite concrete.
Ø Pipelines for evacuation of wastewater and foul water following the plumbing installation
plan and sanitary fittings

1.6 floor slab

A 15cm thick slab in oversite concrete with a mesh of 6 and spacing 20cm x 20cm. This
concrete will lay on a damp proof membrane constituted of a polythene film. A layer of sharp
sand is spread before this DPC to prevent the capillary uprising. A net work of cable for
electricity and telephone will be embedded in die slab where necessary.
1.7 Elevation of wall

Ø External walls and load bearing walls: 15 x 20 x 40

Ø Plastering: this will be realized with cement mortar with a thickness of 2cin
Ø External rendering (thickness 0.20m)
Ø 1st layer, dosage 400kg/m3
Ø Finishing layer, dosage 350kg/m3
Ø Internal plastering (thickness 0.020m)
Ø 1st layer, dosage 400kg/m3
Ø Finishing layer, dosage 350kg/m3

1.8 Frame

Traditional frame work is iroko wood of category one with a degree of humidity of 17.5percent
and volume weight of 750kg/m3 is recommended for the roof framework and treated with
fungicide and insecticide. The constituted elements have the following sections,

Ø Purline 50mm x 75mm ne

Ø Truss

Ceiling joist ( 30mm x 150mm) x 2

Double rafter ( 30mm x 150mm) x 2

Kingpost, vertical struts and diagonal struts 30mm x 150mm

Ø Roofing sheet-the roofing covering will be with corrugated sheet of thickness 7/10e

1.9 Joinery

External joineries: the chosen wood must be adapted to the joinery and on accordance
with the norms concerning the tropical woods and degree of humidity 17percent. This wood
must be treated fungicides and insecticides. the joinery in wood includes all frames of external
doors. The windows will be of glass and the frames may be in wood or in aluminum depending
upon the cost.
Internal joineries: the wood for internal joinery should have a degree of humidity is 15
percent, sliding doors for the wardrobes and the plain doors for toilet. The frames are in massive
wood . All skirting, architraves, pictures railing and ceiling frames will be in wood.

1.10 Painting

The Painting Work Will Be Done In Accordance With the DTU No 59-1. Washable air paint on
the interior walls. vanish of type Cellulosique for ceiling, wardrobe and doors.

1.11 Electricity

The electricity facilities will be in accordance with the DTU no 70-1. The relative works to
electricity in the house concerning the general connection. these are ,

Ø A canalization for connections

Ø A disjuncture
Ø A box for short circuit

The installation inside every piece comprises

Ø The conduit
Ø Control apparatus
Ø Sockets
Ø Lighting appliances

1.12 Plumbing And Drainage

Good quality materials will be used. Water supply will be done with copper and pressurized PVC
pipes. Draining pipes and ventilation in P.V.C, here we have the option for individual wastewater
handling according to DTU 64-1 which define the conditions to be respected

Ø Primary treatment of wastewater and foul water ( septic tank or micro station with
activated sludge).
Ø Purification of the pre-treated effluent ( underground, sand filter)
Ø The evacuation sewages ( underground and soak away)
1.13 Coating

Ceramic tiles of 20 x 20 on the walls of toilets up to a height of 1.80m from the floor level and
equally on the toilet floor. on the verandas and other rooms will receive ceramic tiles of 40 x 40
and 30 x 30. The yard will be with pavement stones and with lawns

1.14 Fence

The foundation is consisted of continues footing ( 50 x 30). Foundation wall with blocks of 20 x
20 x 40 with isolated pad under the columns. The wall will be in blocks of 10 x 20 x 40 with
spacing of the columns 300m to 400m axial distance.
