SECTION 1 (25 marks) – Major social problems/issues you have identified:

3|Page
Nowadays, one of the unhealthy lifestyles in Malaysia is bad eating habits among adults (New
Straits Times, 2021). In 2019, 18.3% of Malaysians aged 18 and above have diabetes due to bad
eating habits as compared to the 11.2% in 2011 (The Sun Daily, 2021) and according to Appendix
1.1, most of the unhealthy eating Malaysians are located in Selangor. In the current era, many adults
like to drink boba tea or bubble iced teas and this type of sweet drink contain a lot of sugar, which is
connected to different kind of medical problems such as diabetes (Dan Brennan, MD, 2022). One of
the most famous food in Malaysia, nasi lemak, contains 400 calories in just a pack (The Curve,
2019). Office workers put in 5 to 6 hours a day at their jobs and they eat at irregular times and which
will lead to an increase in the risk of high blood pressure (Stephen Beech, 2017). Some people will
use an incorrect diet plan to lose weight such as not eating any dinner because they do not have time
to exercise. In addition, Malaysians like to consume heavy meals during supper at night. For
example, people would like to watch football at 'Mamak' with their friends when they are free.

SECTION 2 (25 marks) - Your proposed TRANSFORMATIONAL business start-up

SOLUTION to the social problems/issues you have identified in Section 1 above:
To solve this problem, we suggest that we can begin by establishing food adjustments and launching
a healthy food delivery application called "Brighter Health". According to Appendix 2.1, diet and
nutrition apps are one of the most used health and wellness apps by Malaysians. Moreover,
Malaysians are slowly catching up with the healthy eating trend, and they have become increasingly
interested in healthy food (Abirami Durai, 2022). Our app sells dry fruit snacks, organic products
and healthy food sets. (Appendix 2.2) (Appendix 2.3) (Appendix 2.4). Dry fruit snacks such as
apricot and organic food such as vegetables are rich in nutrients and vitamins (Anurag Khare, 2017)
(Organic Trade Association, n.d.). On the other hand, healthy food set with a balanced diet is able to
reduce the risk of illness, support a strong immune system and manage a healthy weight (Spine
Correction Center, 2019). The sellers make and prepare all the dry fruit snacks, organic foods and
healthy food sets once the buyer placed orders using our app. With just a few clicks, healthy food
will be sent to their doorway. Consumers are able to have a number of options based on their unique
tastes. Our concept makes it simpler for individuals to get healthy food, while also motivating and
assisting them in making changes to lead healthier lives.

SECTION 3 (20 marks) – JUSTIFY that your proposed solution qualifies as

TRANSFORMATIONAL Entrepreneurship in terms of compliance with both criteria:
1) medium-to-high economic impact 2) medium-to-high long-term societal impact:
By distributing this business idea, we are able to provide an impact on the society as well as the
economy.
According to a study published by Harvard Business Review, healthy apps are able to help people to
self-regulate their attitudes and behaviour toward a more healthy lifestyle (Ghose, 2021). With our
healthy food delivery application “Brighter Health”, we can promote and sell dry fruit snacks,
organic products and healthy food, letting more and more people understand and learn that these
food are healthy, and people can actually improve and gain a healthy body and healthy lifestyle by
eating healthy food. Our idea also helps people by providing a platform, allowing them to engage
with healthy food and lifestyle.
Based on the Adroit Market Research in 2019, Malaysia Online Food Delivery Market has increased
from 2017 and will keep increasing in the future until 2025, the market size is expected to be 24.7
USD million (Appendix 3.1). People would purchase their food online and the number of people
would keep increasing as online platforms are very convenient for both buyers and sellers, especially
during the pandemic. This means that demand for online food purchasing will keep increasing, and
sellers are able to generate revenue by supplying their healthy food products on our healthy food
delivery application.
Nowadays, online food purchasing apps have become more trending, these apps allow people to
enjoy fresh and healthy food (Zhen, Mohd Jamil Sameeha, 2021). According to Appendix 2.1 in
Section 2, diet and nutrition apps are one of the most used health and wellness apps by Malaysians.
With these evidences, we think it would be easy to expand our business idea. We can first advertise
our app on a different online platforms such as YouTube, and Tik Tok. Furthermore, we can also
expand our business idea by making collaboration with gym and pharmacy. People who go to these
places are able to know that not only by exercising or taking medicine, they can also improve and

change their lifestyle by changing their eating habits.
(339 words)

SECTION 4 (20 marks) - JUSTIFY that your Solution is RELEVANT and FEASIBLE in
view of the new realities/challenges imposed by varying government restrictions to control
the Covid-19 pandemic or future pandemics:
Nowadays, the case of the Covid-19 pandemic is starting to increase in Malaysia after the
government relaxed the SOP for Covid-19 on 1 May 2022 (Human Resources, 2022). Our country
has entered a new Covid-19 wave, the Omicron BA.5. It is the most transmissible version of Covid-
19 as compared with the BA.1 and BA.2 (New Straits Times, 2022). It can also re-infect those
people who had already been infected before. People are afraid of the virus, especially in those
places that are very crowded and SOPs are not followed.
Due to this situation, the Ministry of Health, Khairy discourages citizens from going out into the
crowd in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, food delivery applications are crucial
for everyone who needs it to deliver and order food. Even though the movements are restricted, with
food delivery applications, merchants are still able to operate and generate income during the
pandemic as there is demand for healthy food products. People can also enjoy online ordering as
well as minimizing the rate of Covid-19.
With our healthy food delivery application, consumers and sellers can solve the issues of social
distancing, they can also purchase and sell healthy food without physically engaging with one
another.
