Well Testing Operation Page : 1 / 4
2. Operation
2.1. Crew and equipment arrive at location.
2.2. Hold pre job safety meeting.
2.3. Unload and spot well test equipments according previous agreement done during a rig or field visit and
safety procedures :
• Surface Safety Valve (SSV) : approximately 7meters from well head.
• Choke Manifold : approximately 3 meters from SSV.
• Separator and Surge Tank : minimum 20 meters from Choke Manifold.
• Outlet Separator to flare pit : minimum 100 meters or as per client request.
• Lab cabin : minimum 5 meters from separator.
• Concrete blocks (2) are spotted at the end of the flare line piping.
2.4. Rig up connection/flange at well head to flow valve (and annulus valve if required according the program).
2.5. Rig up line from well head to SSV and Choke Manifold using pipes 3” Fig. 1502.
2.6. Rig up line from downstream Choke Manifold to Separator, Surge Tank and Oil & Gas Manifold if applicable
using pipes 3“ Fig.602.
2.7. Rig up flare line using 2-7/8” tubing.
2.8. Secure all line using tie down sling and rig up all the instrumentation.
2.9. Pressure test equipment and line using by this procedures :
• Make sure all connections are tight enough.
• Pressure test carried out by Cementing Unit.
• Inform Company man, all personnel at the location and put barrier around the area.
• Hold safety meeting before starting pump. Non essential personnel must to be out of the
Well Test area.
• Time out for safety could be call anytime. Anyone have the duty to stop any unsafe act or
operation.
• Ensure good communications are in place, radio check if applicable.
• Open SSV.
Note: Bleed off pressure first before tightening any leak connection during pressure test.
Clean up
1. Preparation
1.1. Make sure all equipment suitable for acid job (if acidizing conducted before).
1.2. To minimize the risk, all non-essential personnel should be denied access. For the personnel who are
working in the testing area, optimum PPE should be taken.
1.3. All lines connected from wellhead to flare pit have been pressure tested.
1.4. An emergency shower should be made available.
1.5. Escape route should be free obstacle. Muster point must to be defined.
1.6. Function test ESD stations and control panel prior any Well Test operation.
1.7. Hold safety meeting. Ensure good communication is in place, radio check if applicable.
2. Acidizing Clean up
2.1. During pumping acid close flow wing valve and upstream Choke Manifold and monitor the pressure.
2.2. After stop pumping find out the volume of liquid pumped into the well.
2.3. Bypass Separator to flare pit.
2.4. Open the well through adjustable choke with small size (8/64”) and increase gradually as required.
2.5. During clean up take BS&W, pH and salinity every 30 minutes, H2S and CO2 every 2 hours or as
required.
2.6. When wellhead pressure and temperature stable and measurement of BS&W, pH, salinity already as
per requested (sediment ≤ 3%, pH ≥ 7). End of clean up and report to company representative.
Production Test
1. Preparation
1.1. Make sure clean up phase is properly done.
1.2. Switch flow through fixed choke with the size as requested or program from Testing Engineer.
1.3. Continue measure BS&W, pH and salinity every 30 minutes, H2S and CO2 every 2 hours or as
required at Choke Manifold.
2. Operation
2.1. Switch flow through separator, set pressure and level as required by keeping critical flow
(upstream pressure ≥ 0,5% downstream pressure in gas wells, and ≥ 0,6% in oil wells).
2.2. The company representative must have knowledge of the choke size.
2.3. Continue measure BS&W, pH and salinity every 30 minutes, H2S and CO2 every 2 hours or as
required at Choke Manifold.
2.4. Calculate oil and gas rate and GOR according program including oil and gas specific gravity.
2.5. Make combined meter factor at least two in each flow or choke size.
2.6. Collect 2 x dead oil sample not less than 1 litter or as per program. And label it properly.
2.7. Shut in the well as fast as possible at choke manifold for build up. Record wellhead pressure,
temperature and casing pressure and following the program for the period.
2.8. If build up phase is not required, close flow wing valve on wellhead.
Rig Down
1. Preparation
1.1. Make sure flow wing valve (and annulus valve) are closed.
1.2. Disconnect upstream line from wellhead and connect to line from pumping unit.
1.3. Make sure all personnel wear PPE as required and practice safe lifting technique.
1.4. Make sure all lifting tool has been certified and personnel has safety knowledge about safety concern
for lifting equipment.
2. Operation
2.1. Flush the lines and equipments by water from pumping unit to flare pit.
2.2. Rig down all the instrumentation continue to rig down all the line/pipes from upstream to flare pit.
2.3. Load all the equipments to trucks. Pay attention while lifting and use tag line to drive the equipment
while loading.
2.4. Move out from the location.
