LEARNER’S REFLECTION

Name: Eddie Arceno Failden Section: HUMSS 11F

Date: June, 2023 Teacher: Hanz Albrech B. Abella

Significant learning:

As I reflect on my journey of learning about Sikolohiyang Pilipino, I am filled with a profound sense of
appreciation and empowerment. Exploring this unique field of psychology has been an eye-opening and
transformative experience for me.

When I first encountered Sikolohiyang Pilipino, I had limited knowledge of its principles and its
significance in the context of Filipino culture and society. However, as I delved deeper into the subject, I
realized the immense value it holds in understanding the Filipino psyche and addressing the specific needs and
experiences of Filipinos.

One of the most impactful aspects of learning Sikolohiyang Pilipino was recognizing its emphasis on
indigenous knowledge systems and cultural rootedness. It provided me with a fresh perspective that challenged
the dominant Western-centric approaches I had previously encountered. I learned that our understanding of
psychology does not have to be confined to Western theories alone but can be enriched by integrating our own
cultural heritage and indigenous wisdom.

It is simply amazing how committed Sir Hanz is to my success. Even when I had doubts about my own
talents, he continued to have faith in me and pushed me to strive for my objectives. His upbeat demeanor and
sincere concern for his pupils produced a welcoming and inspiring learning atmosphere. Because of Sir Hanz’s
infectious enthusiasm for both teaching and his subject, I was truly eager to learn and explore new concepts. I
am so grateful that Sir was my instructor; his consistent encouragement has had a significant impact on my
academic success.

Quarter: 4th QUARTER Subject: HUMSS 2 (DISS)

As I reflect on my learner's growth in understanding Sikolohiyang Pilipino, I am overwhelmed with

pride and satisfaction. Witnessing their journey of exploration and the development of their understanding has
been an incredible experience.

When we first embarked on this journey, my learner had limited exposure to Sikolohiyang Pilipino and
its significance in Filipino psychology. However, their enthusiasm and willingness to embrace this new field of
study were evident from the start. Throughout our discussions, readings, and activities, I witnessed their
curiosity and genuine desire to learn more about the unique aspects of Filipino psychology.

As time passed, I observed a remarkable transformation in their perspective and thinking. They began to
grasp the fundamental principles of Sikolohiyang Pilipino and its emphasis on indigenous knowledge and
cultural context. It was heartening to see them critically engage with the subject matter, questioning Western-
centric approaches and recognizing the value of integrating our own cultural heritage into psychological
frameworks.

In conclusion, seeing my learner's growth in understanding Sikolohiyang Pilipino has been a deeply
gratifying experience. Their transformation from a curious learner to a passionate advocate for Filipino
psychology has filled me with pride and joy. I am confident that they will continue to make meaningful
contributions in promoting cultural understanding, social justice, and holistic well-being within our Filipino
community. Their journey exemplifies the transformative power of education and the importance of embracing
our cultural heritage in the field of psychology.
