1. Rose Tree Park Summer Festival


There are free concerts in Rose Tree Park’s outdoor amphitheater all summer. There are all
different types of music. You can bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic dinner, and sit
back and enjoy the show. Also, they just built a new playground for kids!

2. Upper Darby Summer Stage


Each summer, Upper Darby Summer Stage provides affordable live theater for all ages. They
have local students and young theater professionals participate in their theater camp and
perform seven professional-quality shows throughout the summer.

3. Delaware County Library System


Your local library has so many different things happening – it is not just about reading and
taking a book out anymore. They have all different things from learning how to play chess,
sewing, building with a 3-D printer and so much more. Also, it is all FREE! Check it out!

4. Go on a nature hike.
We are so lucky to live where we do. There are so many wonderful places to go and take a
hike.
Newlin Grist Mill has some great trails to go with young ones. It is free, unless you want to
learn about the history of the Mill or want to fish. They have a fantastic waterfall and rocks
that you can jump across to get to the other side of the stream. https://newlingristmill.org/

Ridley Creek Park has different trails, which you must definitely pay attention to, each color
white, blue, red explains the difficulty of the trail. White is usually best for families. Again, it
is free. They also have a 4.2 mile loop you could walk, scooter, or ride your bike. Also, you
can pack a picnic and sit at one the many picnic areas they have.

5. Pool Noodle Golf Course
Get creative with the old pool noodles you have and maybe buy some new ones at the dollar
store along with some ping pong balls to be the golf balls. Check out this tutorial together to

6. Make something you can wear

8. Visit a Gallery or Museum


There are many different places to visit – just make sure they are interactive for the kids.

9. Have a Karaoke Night at Home


Karaoke is a fun family event. Who doesn’t enjoy belting out their favorite song in their
living room. Singing provides so much more that you don’t even realize. It has cognitive
benefits, physical benefits – yes it is a aerobic exercise, and it helps express emotions.

10. Build a Sand Castle
If you are at the beach for vacation or for the day why not build a Sand Castle.
Remember it doesn’t have to be perfect. Bring buckets, cups, pick up sticks, shells, rocks,
seeweed and have some fun.

11. Leaf Rubbing


This is an easy, fun, outdoor activity. It combines art and science. The kids are learning
about texture, color, and adding some science you can talk about why leaves have veins
and their importance.

12. Dance Night
This is pretty exciting! You can crank up the tunes and dance the night away. You can
put on some of your favorite Disney tunes, kids bop, or todays hits. Have fun!
13. Create an Obstacle Course in your Driveway
This is something that is fun to create together and great way to get kids outside riding
bikes, scooters, skateboard, roller-skates, etc. You can use sidewalk chalk, rocks, stuffed
animals, plastic cups, and whatever else you can come up with.

14. Paint Rocks or Shells


When you take a nature hike or maybe just outside in your yard have kids collect rocks or
shells if you are at the beach. After you collect them have some paint and different size
paint brushes and get creative.

15. Make your own Play Dough
Play dough is a great sensory and learning experience for children. It is good for
creativity, muscle strength, and fine motor skills.

16. Make Chalk art in Driveway, sidewalk


There are many different things to do with sidewalk chalk. You can let the kids do free
hand but there are also stencils that you can use and many other tools out there. Just let
the kids have fun and see what they can create.

17. Get out your Garden Hose and Get Wet


Getting wet is one of the joys of being a kid (and it is free). There are many things you
can do from playing limbo under the water spray or high jump over the spray. You could
have target practice with the water. You could have fun pushing a beach ball across the
yard with the spray of the hose.

18. Playing with Bubbles


Bubbles are a great sensory activity. There are so many different activities you can do.
You can make a science project out of it by making your own bubbles. You can use
different types of wands to make different shapes and sizes of bubbles. You can make art

19. Story Walk at Rose Tree Park


StoryWalk is a children’s story book that is spread out page by page across 18 reading
stations along a .26 mile trail that promotes health and literacy in children. It is geared for
children age 1-7.

20. Take a Factory Tour


We have a few factory tours near us that our pretty interesting. Kids can see some of their
favorite things and how they are made. They may even get to taste of few things. Couple
