Bali Diary

DAY 1 - Off to Bali! This morning I woke up at 7am, to be told that out plane was running an hour and a half late. That's not so bad. I got a little bit of a sleep in. We spent the next hour getting ready for Bema and Gaga to pick us up. When we got to the airport, we checked in our bags, no problems. When we went into customs, there was a little bit if trouble with me taking my eye drops and contact eye cleaner stuff. They were about to not let me take it. Stupid people -.- when I got through customs, I, of all people, was selected for a random bomb pat down. Awkward... After that, we were seated on the plan. We were sitting in business class. It was amazing! The people there were waiting on us, hand and foot. It was such a great novelty. I had this weird chicken and noodle thing for lunch, as well as a coffee, lemonade, cookie and bread roll (during the rest of the flight). the stewards were so courteous! When we arrived in Bali, I was amazed, right from the get go. As soon as we hopped off the plane, we were ushered into a bus which then took us from the Tarmac to the airport itself, where we quickly said hey to Maddi and Monica, moving to meet our connecting driver. As we went to collect our luggage on our way out, some Balinese men saw us and wheeled our bags for us. I thought it was nice of them, but I was afraid they would run off with our clothes! When we got to the door, they put our bags down, and as we were about to talk out, they asked for a tip. It all makes sense now. Our connecting driver, Dko, met us at the door from the airport, greeting us with hand made frangipenny necklaces. They smelt beautiful. We then piled into his bus, and he took us from the airport to the resort which we were staying in. The resort is called 'The Bali Breezes'. He thought he was so funny =P he kept saying Australian things like 'g'day mate!'. As we were driving, I noticed or the streets were insane! Motorbikes everywhere! Sometimes 4 people to a bike! The drivers don't even acknowledge the lights! They just run around like maniacs! When we got to the Breezes (the resort), we were greeted royally, with staff opening the door of the bus for us. As we walked up to reception, more staff came up, offering us fresh drinks and cold towels. It was amazing. Now having checked in, we were shown to our rooms. Our luggage had not yet arrived to the hotel. Once in the rooms, it was a fight to the death to claim beds, as always. The three of boys shared a room which was adjoining to mum and dads. When we were settled in, Emilio and I went for a look around the resort and to find out about buying Wi-Fi. We even through in a few games of ping pong too =) After finding out about the Wi-Fi and returning with our luggage, we all decided to call our

driver (who mum booked while we were in Australia), Wayane, to see if he could take us out that night to the beach to see the sunset and to have a seafood dinner. The food was really quite horrible, but sitting at tables on the beach, watching the sunset was amazing! we also got 40% off =P As we walked back to Wayane, it was amusing, and yet frustrating, to have all the Balinese people asking 'you need transport? You need transport'. As Wayane drove us back to our resort, he stopped, with us, at a sort of, shopping centre. It was full of cheap stuff like wooden toys, instruments, paintings, clothes etc. Last of all, we drove back to the resort, said goodbye to Wayane and walked slightly down the road to get a massage. Mum managed to haggle down from Rp. 100 to Rp. 50. So I was happy with that =D After that, it was home time. We all went to bed straight away =D good first day.

DAY 2: This morning I woke up and god knows what time when dad came into our room to use the toilet. First thing I did was use my AWESOME WIFI! to check my Facebook and textie. Apparently I'm loved =D As I was checking my phone, Emilio and Giulian jumped on me. I lifted them up and threw them off =P MACHO! When they hopped off, Giulian said 'Emilio, maybe you've had two massages, but I've had an elephant ride!'. Gotta laugh at that! After everyone was up and ready, we went down to breaky. It was awesome! Pancakes with maple syrup, toast with cheese, mini hash browns and juice. It's gonna be a great start to every morning! After breaky, I uploaded some photos to Facebook while sitting by the pool with Dad (who was watching Emilio swim). Wayne then came to pick us up and take us to Ubud and Caluk. On the way, we stopped to watch some Balinese theatre. It was... Interesting. When we got to the silver factory place, it was interesting to see how the silver pieces were made. When we went into the actual shop, the pieces looked beautiful, but oh my god! They were all so expensive! Second silver shop: EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE! WHOA! So after that, we made our way to 'Bali Tree Top'. It was absolutely amazing. I went on with Dad and Giules. Emilio was too scared to go. By the end of it, I was sweating up a storm. It was just so physically exhausting! I would definitely do it again! We then drove to lunch. We went to the rice fields to eat. Wayane said they were very good. When we got there, we ordered our foods. I got Soto Ayam Bali Jumbo, which was just a fancy name for soup. It was my appetizer. It was pretty nice. When Mum asked our waiter for salt, he didn't know what it was! I was amused ^.^ I then had Mie Kuah (which

was chicken, noodles and vegies in soup). It was good, but god, I miss pasta! At the end of the meal, dad went to get the toothpick and when he opened it, it fell down and it was all green and yuck! After lunch, we headed odd to wood carving place to have a look at people carving. It was amazing! The carvers have amazing talent! When we went inside, I saw a dragon I liked and haggled it down from Rp. 900 to Rp. 250! Woot! Saving of $60! While we were looking around, I found a lot of dirty statues =P the Balinese obviously like to carve people having sex. After that, we started off to the paintings. They were really the same. The painters are incredibly talented. Even a few naked paintings. After that, we got in the car to head off home. On the way, mum hit my elbow, which made it hit number 5. I got cranky, (because i was tired and just wanted to go and vege out at the resort) so now, while Giulian and Emilio are at the spa with Dad, I'm stuck at home with Mum who will most likely make me feel horrible. I decided to go for a sleep because I was so cranky. When I woke up, no one was in the room, so I went for a look around the resort to find everyone. I couldn't find them, so I decided to binge on the food in the bar fridge. It was an uneventful night.

DAY 3: This morning I woke up at about 6:50 and went to breakfast, like yesterday, but unlike yesterday, I went for a swim after breakfast with Emilio, and eventually, Giulian. After the swim, I hopped out of the pool and sunbathed on a pool chair thing. Not long after that, Wayane picked us up and took us to the Zoo where we saw some pirranahs being fed. It was pretty cool. We also had an elephant ride which was... Different. I rode with mum, Dad with Emilio and Giulian by himself. Our rider was on his phone for most of the time, which I thought was very rude, but he didn't talk when he was off it either. The smell was disgusting! I really AM NOT an animal person! While we were riding, mum saw a long horned gazelle and exclaimed 'Look at those antennas!', which amused me. When we were done with the elephants, we went to see the white tigers. It was pretty boring for me, because I'm not an animal person, but the tigers are really a beautiful animal. They can also jump REALLY high! And climb trees! No where is safe! After the tigers, we went on a safari ride where we saw all types of animals. We saw lions, hippos, crocs and the CUTEST little elephant! He was only 2 years old. His name was 'Valentine'. I also learned that elephants are pregnant for 18-22 months! Holy crap! And

their brand new babies can weigh up to 140kg's. Throughout the day I saw a lot of other animals like cheaters, leopards, bats and other stuff like that. After the safari tour, we went to lunch. I had some spaghetti carbonerra and chippies. It was so yummy! I missed pasta =P The last thing on our agenda at the zoo today was to go to the water park. I was so excited to go to the WaterBomb park, but turns out Wayane took us somewhere else which frustrated everyone a bit since we were all looking forward to meeting up with Maddi and Monica, but it wasn't that bad. The slides were nothing flash, but it was good to see mum go down a water slide for the first time =) Once we were done at the zoo, we headed off home to chillax at the resort, in the pool, but turns put, once we got home, I went for an ice cream and then a foot massage and pedicure with Mum and Dad. Definitely coming back to this place tomorrow! The massage now over, I went for a walk with Mum to do some shopping (Dad went back to the resort to send the boys to us, and to have a rest). Bartering is that strangest practice. While shopping, I bought a purse for Alycia for her birthday. It's preeeeetttttyyyyyyy! We then met up with Dad at 'The Lucky Dai' for dinner. The restaurant is beautiful! The lighting is dim, candles light the tables, there's the calming dull murmur of chatter from other tables. It's so good, Mum and Dad say we're going to have dinner here every night! After dinner, I went back to the room with Dad and Emilio while Mum and Giules went shopping again. I was too tired to keep going. After a little while, I fell asleep. DAY 4: This morning started off perfectly. I GOT A SLEEP IN! When I finally woke up at 8:30ish I went down to breaky with the family and once that was done, chilled with Dad next to the pool while we waited for Maddi and Monica. When I went for a wall to the lobby to find Maddi and Monica, I found a wood carver who is making me a personalized wooden name plate for Alycia for only Rp. 150! When Maddi and Monica got here, we went for an ice cream and then for a foot massage which definitely topped the one from yesterday. When we got back from the massage, everyone except for Dad came out for some shopping. On the way, Mum told us that earlier that morning when she and Giulian went out, she had tried to exchange money, and she was almost ripped off. When she caught the guy out, he fixed up the money, accidentally giving her more money than he should have. Mum was going to walk out of there with it to show them who was boss, but the staff of the shop (about 3 or 4) surrounded her. Giules said when Mum was surrounded; it was a bit scary, but other than that, funny.

While we were out, we went to the Billabong warehouse thing. I didn't buy anything there, but it wasn't that bad. They also had a look around the sport warehouse thing. It WAS boring. Lunch that day was at a place called 'Degrees Celsius. The food there was so good! I got a hamburger and some spaghetti bolegnaise. Yum! After lunch we went to a street that Mum and Giulian went to that morning. They said it had very VERY good shopping. They weren't wrong! While we were shopping, I bought three pairs of boardies for me, one engraved bracelet for Alycia, red high top Connies for me, a fedora for me and a watch for me. It was so much fun! Afterwards, we walked back to the unit to drop Maddi and Monica back off to their driver, Katook, and then headed over to 'Carla Spa' for a Creambath and foot massage. The foot massage was shocking compared to this morning (when Olive did it) but the creambath was alright. I wouldn't do it again though. While I was having the treatment, the Balinese women were hitting on me. When the woman started massaging my feet, Olive told me to say 'More stronger' to the foot massager, and every time I did, they laughed. I didn't understand what was happening until later in the massage. Soon after the 'more stronger' thing, Olive said 'you are a very strong boy. You must be strong in bed.' It was oh so awkward. Haha. Then, after that, Olive told me her friend, the foot masseuse was single. For the rest of the massage, there was conversation, but it was oh so awkward =S The massage now over, I headed over to 'Cosa Nostra', an Italian restaurant or dinner with the family. The food took 40 minutes to come out! By the end of it, Giulian and I were so buggered, by the time the food came out, we ate it (it was really good! I had gnocchi with some cream sauce thing) and walked straight home. By the time I got back into Wi-Fi range, Alycia had gone to sleep =( Night xx DAY 5: Had another sleep in this morning to about 8:20, which was good. Not much to write for today. After I woke up, I went up for breaky. They finally had potato gems! Yay! After breaky, I went for a quick swim, after which, I returned to the room. After spending some time in the room, I decided to take a stroll down to the corner shop and buy some movie snacks =D I spent the rest of the morning, up until 3pm when I went with Dad for lunch. Before I left, I was watching Hercules I got spaghetti carbonerra, which was pretty average. Dad got some

chicken thing with chippies. On the way back to the room, we stopped at a stall and bought 4 pairs of pants (2 boardies and 2 boxer sorts of things) and a pair of all black converse =D only cost me Rp. 410. When I got back to the room, I just chilled out again, and waited for Mum to get back with the boys, and when she did, her, Giulian and I went shopping. We got a taxi to drop us off at the end of 66 and we walked back to out hotel, shopping the whole way. I bought some Ed Hardy shirts at Just Jeans and some rings as well, but other than that, not much. We stopped at Lucky Dai again for dinner, and lucky us, we walked in JUST as Dad and Emilio were finished and about to walk out. I had Lasagna and Fettuccini Carbonerra for dinner. When dinner was done, I walked back to the room, while all the others met up at Carla Spa for a massage. When Giulian got home, he told me that when he went for his massage, it was great so when it finished, he said 'that was beautiful!' and the masseuse replied 'so are you' and winked at him. Haha. That's my day xx DAY 6: Biggest. Sleepin. Yet! 8:50! Woot! It was awesome. By the time I woke up, Emilio, Giulian and Dad had all gone fishing, and Mum was just lying in bed. I went down to breaky myself. Nothing new. When I came back up, I got ready and then went out shopping with Mum. While I was shopping, I bought a necklace, a necklace charm, a pandora charm and a dragon. As well as those things, I had a necklace made for Rebecca made, which I was to pick up at 6pm. Also, while I was shopping, I was asked multiple times if I wanted to have a woman's babies. A little bit later in our shopping trip, I bought a little piano! Finally! I found one! I also bought the matching hangbag for the purse I bought Alycia. I also bought a bag for Rebecca. It's shiny and pretty =D Mum and I then headed home where we relaxed for a bit at the bar. Mum had two beers and I had a Sprite and a drink called 'Brand New Day'. It was pretty good. After the drink, Mum and I went to the restaurant across the road from The Breezes. I ordered Spaghetti Bolegnaise. When it finally came out, there was hardly any of it! It was so small! So I also got Sweet and Sour chicken. It was nice, but very hot. I thought the Chilli was capsicum! Stupid me! Haha.

Eventually, Emilio Dad and Giulian made it to lunch and we exchanged stories about the day, after which, I headed back to the room with Dad and Emilio while Mum and Giules headed out to Street 66. I just relaxed for the rest of the day, having a drink in the poolabar, watching TV, texting Jaz and collecting the necklace I had made for Becca. Last of all tonight, we went for dinner again at The Lucky Day. I again, had lasagna, and then for a massage. It was so amazing and relaxing! Off to bed now <3 DAY 7: Early start this morning. I woke up at 8:00 to get ready to go to Waterbomb (waterpark). Well, technically, I was woken up by Monica jumping on me. Before we left this morning, we headed downstairs to breaky. They finally had mini hash browns again! Yeahhhhhh! I missed them =P Breakfast now finished, we met Katook in the lobby so he could take us to the Waterbomb, which was absolutely amazing! I went on all the extreme rides like the Smash Down, the Climax and the Race Track. No butterflies, but it definitely got my heart pumping. At 12:30 we stopped for lunch. I had Tomato Pasta and chippies. Nothing special. More rides proceeded lunch time. Mainly just casual rides to wind down. That was the end of our day at Waterbomb. After that, we started off home. Katook dropped Mum, Maddi, Monica and Giules off at some markets for them to do some shopping and then took Dad, Emilio and I home. I went straight for a massage while Dad and Emilio went to the room to get ready for dinner which, like last night, was at The Lucky Day. The people there are so nice. I'll miss them when I go home. After dinner, Emilio and I came home and watched some movies (Sky High and Nighy At The Museum 2) while Mum and Dad went for a spa and Giulian went for a massage. End. Day. 7. DAY 8 - The Last Day Today was our last full day in Bali. I had a sleep in today until about 9:10 I think. It was nice. When I woke up, the rest of the family had already gone to breaky, so I went myself. Nothing special.

Once I finished breakfast, I headed out with Giulian to look for a place to get a temporary tattoo, but none of the places did it, so we just headed back towards the resort. On the way, I picked up a Binteng singlet for Bri and the ring for Jaz. Giules and I parted ways, with me heading to Carla Spa and him heading back to the resort. When I got to Carla Spa I had my legs waxed (which turned out pretty good) and my feet massaged. God I'm gonna miss that. When I finished up with my final pampering, I headed back to the room and was greeted by silence. Emilio and Mum had gone shopping and I didn't know where Dad and Giules were. I just chilled in the room watching TV. When Giules came back, (he had been swimming) he told me Dad was having a massage. We decided to go down to the shop and pick up some Pringles and a drink for lunch, after which, we just chilled in the room, watching TV. When Mum and Emilio got back, we all sat at the bar waiting for Dad. I got a late lunch of Spaghetti Bolegnaise. It was so small! The serving was as big as my fist! Lucky I got some fries to go with it =D the fries came with sweet chili mayo dip. Yummy! When Dad got back, Mum headed out shopping with Giules and Emi, Dad and I just chilled in the room until dinner time when we all met up at the Lucky Day for dinner. As usual, we had a royal greeting. I had the cannelloni again, which was as beautiful as ever. After dinner was done, we all went back to the room. On the way, i picked up a beautiful bag for Kayla and Tailah. When we got back, the three of us boys chilled watching Hannah Montana. Night xx DAY 9 - The Flight Home This morning, we all woke up at 6:15am with a knocking on our door. When we looked, someone had brought up our breakfast. Good old Mum! She'd worked out everything. I didn't eat anything. It didn't look very good. Two hardboiled eggs (in their shell) and some plane danishes and a passionfruit. We then had a quick scour of the room to see if we had left anything behind. Next, we wheeled out suitcases outside of the room for people to pick up and take to the lobby for us, where they were then transferred into a van to be taken to the airport. We met a nice couple on the bus to the airport. Mum, being the social butterfly she is, got into a massive conversation with them about holidaying. When we arrived at the airport, we went through the long, tedious process of checking in our bags and going through customs. While we were waiting to board, we met up with one of Mum's friends, Kita, and we had a chat with her.
