    Remembering Mangal Pandey


    • Mangal Pandey Was An Indian Soldier Who Played A Key Part In The Events
    Immediately Preceding The Outbreak Of The Indian Rebellion Of 1857.
    • He Was A Sepoy (Infantryman) In The 34th Bengal Native Infantry (BNI)
    Regiment Of The British East India Company.
    • In 1984, The Indian Government Issued A Postage Stamp To Remember Him.
    • His Life And Actions Have Also Been Portrayed In Several Cinematic Productions.
    • Mangal Pandey was arrested and sentenced to death after he attacked British
    officers in Barrackpore on March 29, 1857. Anticipating a revolt, British
    authorities moved up his initial execution date from April 18 to April 8, when he
    was hanged.
    Agriculture Exports Touch Historic High Of 50 Billion
    • India’s Agriculture Exports Have Touched A Historic High Of 50 Billion US Dollar
    In 2021-22. According To Commerce And Industry Ministry, This Is The Highest
    Level Ever Achieved In Agriculture Exports. The Growth Rate Is Remarkable As It
    Is Over And Above The Growth Of Around 41 Billion Dollars, Achieved In 2020-
    21.
    • During The Current Crisis Due To The Russia-Ukraine War, The World Is Looking
    At India For Supplies Of Wheat And Other Food Grains.
    • Highest Ever Exports Have Been Achieved For Staples Like Rice, Wheat, Sugar,

    Than 273 Percent, Jumping Nearly Four-fold From 568 Million Dollars In 2020-21
    To Around Two Thousand 119 Million Dollars In 2021-22.
    • The Increase In Exports Of These Products Has Benefitted Farmers In States Like
    Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Madhya

    Govt Constitutes AVGC Promotion Task Force
    • The Government Has Constituted Promotion Task Force For Animation, Visual
    Effects, Gaming And Comics, AVGC To Recommend Ways To Realize And Build
    Domestic Capacity For Serving Indian Markets And The Global Demand. The
    AVGC Sector In The Country Has The Potential To Become The Torch Bearer Of
    Create In India And Brand India.
    • The Task Force Will Be Headed By The Secretary, Ministry Of Information And
    Broadcasting. The I&B Ministry Said, The Country Has The Potential To Capture
    40 Billion Dollars Of The Global Market Share By The Year 2025, With An Annual
    Growth Of Around 25 To 30 Percent And Creating Over One Lakh 60 Thousand
    New Jobs Annually.
    • The Task Force Also Includes State Governments Of Karnataka, Maharashtra,

    • The Task Force Will Frame A National Avgc Policy And Boost Employment
    Opportunities. It Will Recommend A National Curriculum Framework For

    The Task Force Will Submit Its First Action Plan Within 90 Days.

    • In A Tweet, Mr Modi Said, The Construction Of More Than Three Crore Houses
    Has Been Possible Only With The Participation Of The People. He Said, Today

    Terror Strikes In Israel's Tel Aviv


    • In Israel, At least two people were killed and several wounded during an attack
    in the city of Tel Aviv.
    • Israeli emergency services said, the shooting took place in the Dizengoff Street
    area, one of the busiest in the city, which is popular with people going to bars
    and restaurants.
    • Meanwhile, Israeli security forces have killed a Palestinian who opened fire at a
    bar.
    • According to media reports, hours earlier he had attacked people at the bar on
    Dizengoff Street.
    • The shooting comes days after a spate of attacks across the country claimed 11
    lives.
    • The popular nightlife area on Dizengoff Street was the scene of a deadly
    shooting in 2016.
    Russia Suspended From The UN Human Rights Council
    • The United Nations General Assembly has voted in favour of the suspension of
    Russia from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). A vote on whether or not to
    suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council took place after the US envoy to
    the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield made a case for seeking the suspension of
    Russia from the Human Rights Council in front of the UN Security Council on
    Tuesday.
    • The resolution received a two-thirds majority of those voting, minus
    abstentions, in the 193-member Assembly, with 93 nations voting in favour and
    24 against. Fifty-eight nations including India abstained from the process.
    • The meeting marked the resumption of a special emergency session on the
    Russian military action in Ukraine and followed reports of violations committed
    by Russian forces. Hundreds of civilian bodies were found in the streets
    including mass graves in the city of Bucha, a suburb of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv
    following Russia’s withdrawal from the area.
