FRASER STRING QUARTET

Programme:
String Quartet, Op. 76, No. 3 by HAYDEN – 25 mins
Weaving Time and Distance by GILLIAN WHITEHEAD – 10 mins
String Quartet No. 4 in C minor (Op. 18, No. 4) by BEETHOVEN- 25 mins

TOTAL – 1 hour

The Fraser Quartet is an Auckland based quartet, will be playing a programme consisting of Hayden,
Whitehead, and Beethoven. The Whitehead is a New Zealander composed piece which will attract
more audience among the community. Starting the programme with Hayden and ending with
Beethoven is a conscious decision as these pieces have more rhythmic and harmonic energy that will
attract the general public and audience.

Rationale for Concert Dates:

The first concert on a Friday night in Auckland allows the maximum number of audience to attend as
they include family, friends, and other members of the community who are interested and available.
The second concert occurs on the Saturday of the following week which happens to be the night
before Sunday service for the church, allowing more members of the church to attend the concert. The
third concert is in Wellington on a Sunday night, allowing both parents and their children to attend on
the weekend night. The fourth concert and fifth concert both occur near Auckland and on Friday and
Saturday nights where most people will be free.
