It was a Monday morning, Mary got up very early. Mary was very excited about going
to school. It was her first day in the first grade. She couldn’t wait to get to school. She

wore her new school 1   and her black shoes.  After getting dressed, she went
into the kitchen which was full of a great smell. Mary’s mother was making pancakes for

breakfast. She poured a 2   of milk and ate the pancakes with some grapes. She
ate her breakfast and then her mother took her to school. Mary’s mother took her
straight into the classroom where her teacher, Ms Brown, was there 3   for them.

Her teacher said hello to her and helped her to find a 4  . A few minutes later, her
classmates arrived. A girl named Lucy came and sat next to Mary. They started

Parrots are the most popular pet birds in the world. They are smart and very social.

They live a long life; some parrot species can live 1   over 80 years. They

have colourful feathers and curved beaks. There are 2   different kinds of parrots

and most of them live in tropical areas. Most parrots 3   seeds. Others may eat

fruit, flowers 4   small insects. Some types of parrot, such as the African grey

Paul loves eating pizza, fries, burgers and sweets. He also likes drinking milkshakes
and soda. He eats and drinks these for every meal.
“What are you having for breakfast today?” his mother asked.
“I’m having a jelly-filled doughnut, a bar of chocolate and some juice,” Paul answered.

“You’ve got to go to the dentist, Paul,” his mother sighed.
“But I don’t want to go to the dentist,” Paul replied. He took another bite to prove that
he was fine, but he wasn’t.
