Emotion- The feelings that motivate people to behave in certain ways
Behaviour- The result of the choices people make not the emotion they feel. It is the
behaviour that results from an emotion that can be considered is a good or bad not the
emotion it self
Developing emotional involves three steps-

1. Recognising the emotion- people must pause and give themselves permission to feel
its effects, especially in their bodies. The feeling must then be identified for example
for joy sadness or anger
2. Accepting the emotion- when you understand what has caused the emotion and
whether the emotion was appropriate to the situation
3. Making a choice to direct an emotion- to make a choice about directing emotion people
to take into account a number of considerations
7 principal emotions
Love- A decision to “will the good for another “person
Hatred- Extreme dislike or discuss to a person place or thing
Desire- A strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen
Fear- and unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or
harm
Sadness- The quality or state of being sad to someone or yourself
Anger- strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility to a person place or thing
Joy- A feeling of great pleasure and happiness
Scripture examples of Jesus showing the emotions-

Hatred-
The Bible speaks of Loving God and hating evil ( psalm 97:10) “ he the love the Lord, hate

Fear-

emotion that Jesus showed by overcome in the fear of death
Sadness-
Jesus is sadness in the new Testament by weeping at least two times. John 11:35 tells us that
Jesus wept. This had to do with the death of Lazarus.
Anger-
Jesus had anger as an emotion when he was responding to those who were making a profit
by exchanging money in killing animals at the time.( matthew 21:12-13; mark 11:15-18; john
2:13-22)
Another occasion when Jesus showed anger when he asked religious leaders if it was okay to
heal a person on the sabbath day. When they would no answer “ it says he looked around at
them with anger” (mark 3:5 )
Joy-
Jesus show joy by when he makes himself the Shepherd in the parable of the lost
sheep( Matthew 18:13) “ truly, I say to you, rejoice over it and move then over the 99 that
never went astray. “ this shows joy as he was rejoicing

In reference to hatred it could be said that anyone who claims to be in the light but I hate
brother or sister is still in darkness(John 12:9-17 ). Bethany (‘s) (farther/brother/mother)

place or thing. This is shown when Bethany has self-hatred . She behaves in a way where she
takes all the emotion and takes it out on everyone around her. In reference to hatred it could

towards a person place or thing. Hatred can be represented in the film, When Bethany had
self hatred towards herself, this caused an irrational behaviour which made her plan and take

19:14) Bethany‘s father felt the emotion of love when he was supporting her to surf again and
get back in the water. This caused a rational behaviour which made him create a new board
for Bethany to surf with after losing her arm.
