Predicted Paper
Time allowed: 3 hours Maximum Marks: 80
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. The question paper consists of 30 questions divided into 4 sections – A, B, C & D. Section A comprises of six
questions of 1 mark each, Section B comprises of six questions of 2 marks each, Section C comprises of ten
questions of 3 marks each and Section D comprises of eight questions of 4 marks each.
3. All questions in Section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per the exact requirement of
the question.
4. There is no overall Choice in the paper. However, an internal choice has been provided in two questions of 3
marks each and two questions of 4 marks each. You have to attempt only one of the alternative in all such
questions.
5. In question on construction, the drawings should be neat and exactly as per the given measurements.
6. Use of calculators is not permitted.
SECTION A
1. If the mid-point of the line segment joining the points 𝑃(6, 𝑏 − 2) and 𝑄(−2, 4) is (2, −3), find the value of 𝑏.
91
2. Write whether the rational number will have a terminating or a non-terminating decimal representation.
175
3. Without drawing the graph, find out whether the lines representing the following pair of linear equations intersect at
a point, are parallel or coincident:
9𝑥 − 10𝑦 = 21
3 5 7
𝑥− 𝑦=
2 3 2
𝑎𝑟(Δ𝐴𝑃𝑄)
4. In Figure, 𝑃𝑄 ∥ 𝐵𝐶 and 𝐴𝑃: 𝑃𝐵 = 1: 2 . Find .
𝑎𝑟(Δ𝐴𝐵𝐶)
SECTION B
7. If two positive integers 𝑝 and 𝑞 are written as 𝑝 = 𝑎𝑏 3 and 𝑞 = 𝑎3 𝑏 2 ; 𝑎, 𝑏 are prime numbers, then verify:
𝐿𝐶𝑀 (𝑝, 𝑞) × 𝐻𝐶𝐹 (𝑝, 𝑞) = 𝑝𝑞
8. If the ratio of sum of the first 𝑚 and 𝑛 terms of an A.P. is 𝑚2 ∶ 𝑛2 , show that the ratio of its 𝑚th and 𝑛th terms is
(2𝑚 − 1): (2𝑛 − 1).
9. Which term of the sequence 114, 109, 104, .. is the first negative term?
SECTION C
8
13. The sum of two numbers is 8. Determine the numbers if the sum of their reciprocals is .
15
14. The line segment joining the points 𝐴(2, 1) and 𝐵(5, −8) is trisected at the point 𝑃 and 𝑄 such that 𝑃 is nearer to 𝐴. If 𝑃
also lies on the line given by 2𝑥 − 𝑦 + 𝑘 = 0, find the value of 𝑘.
OR
Show that 𝐴(−3, 2), 𝐵(−5, −5), 𝐶(2, −3) and 𝐷(4, 4) are the vertices of a rhombus.
15. Without using trigonometric tables, evaluate the following:
cos 58° cos 38° cosec 52°
2( ) − √3 ( )
sin 32° tan 15° tan 60° tan 75°
OR
Prove that:
sin2 𝜃−2 sin4 𝜃
sec2 𝜃 − =1
2 cos4 𝜃−cos2 𝜃
19. In figure, 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 is a square of side 14 𝑐𝑚. Semi-circles are drawn with each side of square as diameter. Find the area of
22
the shaded region. (use 𝜋 = )
7
20. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
21. Find the median of the following data:
Class interval 0– 20 20– 40 40– 60 60– 80 80– 100 100– 120
Frequency 7 8 12 10 8 5
22. A solid right–circular cone of height 60 𝑐𝑚 and radius 30 𝑐𝑚 is dropped in a right–circular cylinder full of water of
22
height 180 𝑐𝑚 and radius 60 𝑐𝑚. Find the volume of water left in the cylinder, in cubic metres. [Use 𝜋 = ]
7
25. In Figure, 𝐷𝐸𝐹𝐺 is a square and ∠𝐵𝐴𝐶 = 90°. Show that 𝐷𝐸 2 = 𝐵𝐷 × 𝐸𝐶.
26. A vertical pedestal stands on the ground and is surmounted by a vertical flag staff of height 5 𝑚. At a point on the ground
the angles of elevation of the bottom and the top of the flag staff are 30° and 60° respectively. Find the height of the
pedestal.
OR
A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower observes a car at angle of
depression of 30°, which is approaching the foot of the tower with a uniform speed. Six seconds later, the angle of
depression of the car is found to be 60°. Find the time take by the car to reach the foot of the tower from this point.
27. Draw ‘more than ogive’ for the frequency distribution and hence obtain the median.
Class interval 5– 10 10– 15 15– 20 20– 25 25– 30 30– 35 35– 40
Frequency 2 12 2 4 3 4 3
