Strategic Management for Business 3 Dissertation & Viva Voce

Internal Assessment - 25 marks, Evaluation of dissertation 100 marks, Viva-voce-75 marks.

Eligibility to Guide Dissertation Work: College/University teachers with M.Phil. Degree may guide maximum 5 candidates every year. College/University teachers with Ph.D. Degree may guide maximum 10 candidates every year. Selection of the Topic for the Dissertation: In consultation with the Guide/Supervisor the candidate has to choose three topics for dissertation, list them in the order of preference and forward them in the prescribed proforma to the Head of the School concerned. After getting intimation from the University about the topic approved by the school the candidate can proceed with his/her dissertation work. A copy of the topic approval letter should be submitted to the University along with copies of dissertation. Dissertation Submission: Dissertation may be in Tamil or English. Number of pages of the dissertation may be around 100 to 150 Two copies of the Dissertation shall be submitted to the University for evaluation. The student shall submit their dissertation within six months from the date of the Term End Examination. 1

Evaluation: There shall be internal assessment through Assignment / Open Book Tests carrying 25% weightage and Term End Examination with 75% weightage for the three papers prescribed for the M.Phil. Programme. In the case of dissertation, there will be internal assessment for 25 marks, to be allotted by the research supervisor / guide based on the performance / progress made by the candidate. Dissertation will be valued by the external examiner appointed by the university for a maximum of 100 marks, of which, passing minimum will be 45 marks. Candidates securing less than 45% in dissertation will be asked to re-submit the dissertation. The viva-voce examination will be conducted by the examiner appointed by the University for a Maximum of 75 marks. The passing minimum for dissertation and viva-voce put together will be 100 marks out of 200. Question Paper Pattern for Theory Papers The External Examination (Term End Examination) Question Papers shall comprise two parts Part-A and Part-B. Part-A shall consist of short answer questions (answer for each question not to exceed one page), carrying five marks each. The candidates have to answer any three out of five questions from Part-A. Part-B shall consist of Essay type questions/problems carrying fifteen marks each. Any four out of seven questions have to be answered from Part-B. Thus, the distribution of marks in the external examination shall be as follows:Part A Three questions @ 5 Marks each = 15 Marks Part B Four Questions @ 15 Marks each = 60 Marks ----------Max. Marks for the Term End Examination = 75 Marks ----------Classification of successful Candidates The passing minimum shall be 50 % in each examination for all three theory courses and also for Dissertation & Viva Voce put together. The Candidates who secure 60% and above in aggregate will be placed in the First Class. Those securing 50% and above but below 60% in aggregate will be placed in the Second Class.
