Internet
The Internet is the way most kids connect with each other using social networks
such as MySpace or Facebook. With so much action taking place behind a
computer screen, adults and teachers are concerned about the loss of social skills
among young people.
Young people, today, are able to log on and talk to their counterparts in
other parts of the world. The Internet literally opens up the possibilities of a new
world culture enabling them to understand and appreciate its diversity.
Furthermore, young people who regularly use the computer have better reading,
spatial and visual skills.
However, some of the information accessed may not be good for young
people. Therefore, parents should keep a watchful eye without seeming to
smother their growing child’s independence.
