Dr. Jayesh Shah, Dr. Mahesh Gandhi and Dr. Sujit Chatterjee from the
other song academy, from whom I learnt different aspects of practice.
And finally to Dr. Rajan Sankaran, who made me think about going
beyond the pathology to deep within the state of the patient.
Acknowledgements
I would like to thank Dr. Rajan Sankaran, who himself is a master of the
Materia Medica and all the members at the other song – International
Academy of Advanced Homoeopathy for supporting me wholeheartedly,
always. I believe, the other song is the best place in the world to study
different approaches of homeopathy from various doctors under one
roof.
I would like to thank my family, my wife and my children for supporting
me at all times. They are the reason why I can function well at my clinic.
Also a big thanks to my clinic team at Salt Lake and Thakur Nagar for
documenting my cases.
I would like to extend a huge thanks to Armeen Jasavala, the editor
of this book. Her hard work, dedication, time and efforts are greatly
appreciated. She has turned this raw material into a gem, which could
be shared with you. She has worked tirelessly and passionately for this
book.
Special credit also goes to Dr. Nikisha Harwani, Dr. Bhavika Lulla,
Dr. Amruta Hede, Dr. S. Parkavi, Dr. Sheetal D. Bidri, Dr. Abhijit
Nanavati and Dr. Arshia Khan as they all have helped immensely to
form and refine this book.
This book was mainly Dr. Gaurang Gaikwad’s idea. A brilliant student
of mine and now a thriving practitioner, he has worked tirelessly
and passionately on this project for the past seven years by studying
different Materia Medicas, studying cured cases and countless source
books in order to correlate the different pathologies and remedies
in those pathologies with one another. He also did vast research on
various Clinical Repertories and Provings. I have added my own
clinical observations and understanding to his compilation and am very
thankful for his efforts.
Also, special thanks to Mr. Haresh Shah and HMP team for working
tirelessly on this project.

Foreword
11
In my opinion, this book can be utilized in many ways. For example:
As a reference tool when there are no clear indications at higher
levels of experience such as mental and peculiar symptoms
As a confirmation of the remedy (or as an additional indication)
As a clue to examine the commonly used remedies in each
condition
As a guide to consider rarer remedies (i.e. in cases of adenoids,
when Calc carb is indicated and fails, use Calc iod to get results)
To see if any of the listed remedies fit the whole case
When considering the use of an organ-specific remedy in cases of
severe and specific pathology
To consider related remedies (i.e. Kali iod is known as ‘the hot
Rhus-tox’ or Hippozenium is the chronic Silica)
One of the best applications of this book is to use it in connection with
all the other aspects of the case. An example I can give falls within the
first condition he has described: Acid Reflux. One remedy mentioned in
the list for this condition is Sulphuric Acid, where he writes:
Sulphuric Acid
I have found that in today’s day and age, especially in the IT profession,
there is a lot of hurriedness. Sulphuric acid is indicated more in today’s
environment than Nux vomica.
Sulphuric acid is egoistic like Sulphur, with the hurriedness, heat and
aggravation by warmth of Medo. In this remedy, there is a lot of pain.
Below this interesting description he has given the medicine’s
Noteworthy Symptoms.
When I read this, it made a lot of sense even from a Sensation point of
view. Acids generally have the polarity of too much activity followed
by collapse.
Many years ago in The Soul of Remedies I wrote:
Sulphuricum acidum has features common to the Acids and to Sulphur.
An acid represents much effort followed by exhaustion; Sulphur
12
represents the need for effort to be recognized, to appear good, to earn
a position of respect.
The most important thing that can be seen about Sulphuricum acidum is
its tremendous hurry. It is one of the most hasty remedies in our Materia
Medica. Sulphuricum acidum is hurried while eating, in movements,
he cannot do things fast enough, he is hurried in walking, in writing
and in occupation. But when we look behind this hurry, we find that
there is a constant anxiety to finish one’s work as fast as possible. The
hurry is much more in occupation than in other things. The anxiety,
for example, is more in the morning and is ameliorated in the evening,
when the work is over. It is an anxiety about completing his work and
getting the things done.
He is also “serious”, “industrious” and “restless”. On the other hand
(failed side), we have “weary”, “speech, monosyllabic”, “prostration
of mind” and “discouraged”.
This book also highlights lesser-known remedies and compares
remedies to one another. For example, under Acid Reflux, Dr. Sarkar
writes that Robina is the ‘male Platina’. This is a very useful clinical
tip, but we also must see how he came to this understanding. If you
study the Materia Medica, you will find interesting mind rubrics that
are shared between the two medicines including: delusion emperor,
delusion better than others, unfeeling, hard hearted etc. This gives
meaning to his words, rather than simply taking them at face value. As
previously mentioned, Dr. Sarkar has invested countless hours of study
to come to this point of understanding and this book will help guide the
reader back to some original sources and foundations of knowledge.
Further, this book encourages us to look at the source of the remedies
we use and also facilitates the opening of the mind to discover new
remedies. Dr. Sarkar’s approach broadens our horizons and takes us
out of our comfort zone. For example, his experiences with remedies
outside of their conventional use are fascinating. He has utilized
Indian remedies, Bach Flower Remedies, and often relies on allopathic
pharmacopeia to help his patients. He uses homeopathic preparations
of Cisplatin and Cyclophosphomide in cases of bladder cancer and
gives specific indications that match the side effects of these medicines
allopathically. I can say that this expansion of the materia medica by
the inclusion of all these allopathic remedies is definitely appreciated.
13
I recall a case of mine where the patient had severe peripheral
neuropathy. She was female and could not bear the slightest amount of
touch on her feet. She found it impossible to put her feet on the ground.
I tried many remedies using her symptom totality with little effect, and
then remembered Dr. Sarkar. I went back to the patient and tried to trace
the reason for the problem in the first place. She explained that this
problem began after taking a medicine called Linezolid.
After hearing this, I went to study the Pharmacopeia and found that
neuropathy was not only a main side effect of Linezolid, but the
patient currently had all of the side effect symptoms. We procured the
medicine in its homeopathic form and it provided significant relief
to the patient. Interestingly, the side effects of allopathic drugs also
become its homeopathic indications - and Dr. Sarkar has used this to
great advantage.
Additionally, Dr. Sarkar’s forte is treating cancer cases and the
information he has provided in this work is of incredible value and
it is well-documented. For example, in cases of stomach cancer he
mentions the medicine Agrimony (a well-known Bach flower remedy),
and compares it to having a similar internal grief to Ignatia. He gives
insights into his own clinical experience and observations as well,
explaining that these patients feel tortured, yet talk with a smiling
face. They do not discuss their suffering with others (this is known
as ‘artificial smiling’). When we go back into the archives and study
the Bach flower remedy understanding, we find that Agrimony has
interesting symptoms like cheerfulness with sadness while thinking
about death, laughing when sad, and saying he is well when he is
very sick. We must realize while reading this book that Dr. Sarkar’s
knowledge and ideas about remedies were not originally invented by
him, but come from a much deeper study of homeopathic literature,
which has been applied in countless amounts of cases.
One of the best qualities of this book is its modernity. Books on
homeopathic therapeutics do exist, but he has brought his study into
today’s day and age, including information on diseases like ALS, AIDS,
and Cancers.
A book like this is quite alluring and some may say that it will be used as
a short cut by practitioners or it could potentially create a dichotomy in
14
the minds of aspiring students as to whether or not to use a therapeutic
approach or a traditional and classical approach. It might even seem
that a book like this encourages a more superficial case-taking and not
one that goes into the depths of the patient’s mind. But all of this is
untrue. Dr. Sarkar completely bases his case taking on a holistic and
individual approach and I strongly suggest that all homeopaths stick to
these fundamentals of case-taking and analysis to ensure success.
Dr. Sarkar’s significant contribution is very valuable and gives us very
useful clinical hints, which are quite in sync with our own observations.
I do feel that each case must be studied in depth and in its totality.
I also believe that if we put all of the different viewpoints together
we will get a more rounded picture of the patient. I further hold that
no work (including this one) should be studied in isolation. This work
specifically focuses on a pathological approach to cases, but in the
end, we must see how this information relates to the other aspects of a
remedy such as the mind, the sensation, the kingdom, the miasm, the
genius, the modalities, the source, etc. A more complete understanding
of the remedies and of our patients allows for more consistent results
in practice. With this basic understanding, if one has a case where there
is a strong pathological foundation, this book is invaluable and can be
used in a smart and judicious way.
We all owe Dr. Sarkar a great debt of gratitude for putting this bountiful
amount of information down on paper. It is truly a labor of love from a
man who lives and breathes homeopathy.
I salute him.
Dr. Rajan Sankaran

Introduction
17
For example, in the chapter CANCER BREAST there is the following
list of medicines:
I. Asterias rubens
II. Hydrastis canadensis
III. Bellis perennis
IV. Conium maculatum
V. Scirrhinum
VI. Tamoxifen
VII. Oestrogen
VIII. Arseniciodum
IX. Phytolocca decandra
X. Lobelia errinus
XI. Bromium
XII. Mercurius iodatus flavus
XIII. Scrophularia nodosa
XIV. Aconitum lycotonum
XV. Chimaphilla umbellate
Each remedy has a detailed description of how it is applied in the given
condition, along with a clinical differentiation of similar remedies, and
a list of noteworthy, keynotes, modalities, and concomitant symptoms.
Here, I want to stress that this book is mostly compiled of clinically-
verified remedies, that have been used by various masters and
Dr. Sarkar in practice.
This book also will act to encourage the reader’s curiosity and broaden
their minds. In each chapter, the reader will not only see common
polychrest remedies, but also organ-specific remedies, Indian remedies,
Bach flower remedies, allopathic remedies in potentised form,
pathological remedies, etc. proving that there is an entire spectrum of
remedies we can use and that we should not be limited in our view. As
Dr. Sarkar says, we should just think out of the box.
18
After reading this magnum opus, one may consider utilizing different
approaches while treating various diseases, and especially while trying
to analyze the case. For example, we should think of the application of
Indian drugs like Rauwolfia in cases of hypertension with the keynotes
of insomnia, depression and an amelioration from being outdoors; or
we can consider the application of Tamoxifen, a potentized allopathic
medicine to be used in cases of breast cancer; or the use of sarcodes like
Thyroidinum or nosodes like Scirrhinum to be successfully applied in a
number of modern-day disease conditions.
In short, JUST YOU THINK will broaden one’s vision and equip
them with more than one approach when the classical or conventional
approach fails.

For example, the Osteoarthritic nosode has very similar symptoms
to Rhus tox with right sided affections and a Sepia-like indifference.
Bowel Nosodes
Bowel nosodes are also very useful in practice. For example, the
Sycotic compound is one of the main remedies for recurrent urinary
tract infection. Sycosis: catarrhal infection of the mucous membrane
in U.T.I. Catarrhal condition, yellow, greenish thick discharge < cold,
damp weather.
Bach Flower Remedies
Bach flower remedies are very useful in homoeopathic practice and
we can use them in potentized form as well. For example, Agrimony is
comparative to remedies like Ignatia, who like to keep grief inside.
This remedy feels tortured and is fearful, yet talks with a smiling face.
There is suppressed grief, and these patients hold their breath to get
rid of pain (DDX. Belladonna). There are hepatic and renal affections.
This remedy is useful after suppressed mental traumas, and is often
used in cancers of the stomach. These patients will never discuss their
suffering with anybody, and often there is a conflict between employer
and employee. The suppression can lead to psychosomatic disorders.
There is also artificial smiling in this remedy.
Tautopathic Remedies
One major asset for a homeopath to have is a deep understanding of the
diagnosis, prognosis and approach of modern medicine (allopathically).
There must be a clear understanding of the patient’s allopathic medicines
along with the side effects of each respective drug. For example, the
utilization of of Taxus baccata in cases of cancer.
In Volume 1 of the JUST YOU THINK series, we completed diseases
alphabetically arranged from A to H. Here, we examine from I to Z
plus an addendum for further knowledge. Please enjoy and use this
material wisely.

JUST YOU THINK...
In this magnum opus, Dr. Sunirmal Sarkar along with Dr. Gaurang Gaikwad, who worked
on this book for many years, compiled information of more than two hundred disease
conditions along with a list of remedies that are commonly indicated in each condition.
This work is not going to replace the older and classical method of individualization and
case analysis, but it is a Repertorial Materia Medica that can be used as a reference for
various pathologies, from simple to complex.
This book was formed based on the study of Boericke’s Materia Medica, Clarke’s
Dictionary Practical Materia Medica, Pulford’s Graphic Drug Pictures, NM Chaudhary’s
studies, Hering’s Guiding Symptoms, Farrington’s Clinical Materia Medica and
Hahnemann’s Materia Medica Pura. Repertories like Knerr’s Repertory, Kent’s Repertory
and Boericke’s Repertory were also extensively examined. Old homeopathic journals
including Hahnemanian Gleanings and the North American Journal of Homeopathy were
reviewed and an in-depth investigation of other writings of various masters like Burnetts,
Lippe, R.T. Cooper, Grimmer, and Bernoville was conducted.
Many cured cases of Dr. Sarkar were assessed and reviewed, as well as cases of various
other Kolkata masters.
This book acts to encourage the reader’s curiosity and broaden their minds.
In each chapter, the reader will not only see common polychrest remedies, but
also organ-specific remedies, Indian remedies, Bach flower remedies, allopathic
remedies in potentised form, pathological remedies, etc. proving that there is an
entire spectrum of remedies we can use and that we should not be limited in our
view. As Dr. Sarkar says, we should just think out of the box. – Dr. Rajan Sankaran
