Background
The guest lecture of this week is health talk about Polar. The talk invited Ken Chan
from Polar Electro Hong Kong - introducing Polar for us. Polar is began in 1977 in
Finland. Since there is no accurate way to measure and monitor heart rate dusting
training. After research and development, Polar launched the world’ stirs the
wearable wire-free heart rate monitor. During this talk, we also knew about the
benefits of regular exercise and how can we burn and calculate the heart rate. Then,
we can join the most interesting part—the training. The training included jumping
jack, squat with knee raise, v-sits, mountain climber, glute bridge and butt kicks.
Since we join this activity in our sport hall, we can have a better experience.
Analyses
The lecture is focus on sport performance. The polar system can display our heart
rate during exercise. Since our heart rate will increase due to training intensity during
exercise, the heart rate of different people is also different in the face of the same
training intensity, so we can know the effectiveness of this training. Will the intensity
be too high for us? During the lecture, We can observe that the heart rate of some
students can reach more than 180 during exercise, and the heart rate is higher than
140 even at rest. It can be seen that the training intensity is too high for them.
The advantage of polar is to reduce the accidents that may occur during strenuous
exercise, such as rapid heartbeat, etc. Because polar can monitor the heartbeat, it is
easier for us to grasp the physical condition during exercise. Also, there are many
people wants to control weight though exercise. Having the Polar system to monitor
their heart rate , we can also calculate the calories they burn, it helps maintain
weight loss.
Reflection
It was a valuable and interesting experience for me. I usually have regular training ,
so I didn’t feel very difficult in this experience. I have also wear the wireless heart
rate monitor in my training, I can see my data on the iPad immediately. And I need to
run as fast as I can or doing the exercise as hard as I can since the coach will also
remind me to work harder through my data, which also improve my sport
performance.
I think this activity can encourage and motivate people to do some exercises
effectively. Since during this lecture, we need to follow the program and do it about
30mins. We can get the results immediately, then we don’t need to go outdoor and
run for an hour to burn calories. The indoor exercises such as umping jack, mountain
climber and butt kicks. These exercises can increase our heart rate and fat burning in
a short time. 60%-70% of your maximum heart rate. 60%-70% of your maximum
heart rate. And the maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age. Then we can find the
best heart rate for fat burning.
In my opinion, there should be more promotions of the indoor exercise. Due to the
busy life of modern people, they have to work and go to school everyday , and there
is not enough time and space for them, so it is difficult to allocate time and go out for
regular exercise. But the level of scientific and technological research and
development related to indoor sports has been continuously improved, and we can
use the convenience brought by technology to attract citizens to participate in
regular sports, such as the polar system. We can promote some online activities like
some “challenge” in instagram. Set a 14 days challenge for them, they need to keep
exercise in a whole week and guide them to exercise without equipment.
The recent turmoil in the epidemic has caused many people to go out less to prevent
the epidemic at home, but they spend on bed or sitting on the sofa, even if they
want to go to the gym to exercise, they will still worry about the risk of group
gathering. In order not to become an excuse for not exercising, the promotion of
home exercise allows people to develop regular exercise and fitness, so that
everyone can be strong. There are different promotional methods such as inviting
some KOL or YouTuber to promote the habit and benefit of regular, and so promote
some apps about exercise lead them to try at home.
Using readily available equipment to exercise limbs and heart and lungs can reduce
the number of people entering and leaving public places, avoid unnecessary
movement and maintain social distance to reduce the risk of infection. It is a sport
suitable for all ages while maintaining privacy and full of flexibility. model. YouTube
channels such as yoga, aerobics and fitness have joined forces to bring about a wave
of home exercise.
