Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education is the mode of education that

use information and communications technology to support, enhance, and optimize the delivery of
information.
Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and
manage
information.(6) In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning interaction,
through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students’
own smartphones or other devices for learning during class time, and the <flipped classroom= model
where students watch lectures at home on the computer and use classroom time for more interactive
exercises.

TASK:
1.  ICT can be used in testing to administer tests, to score the tests, to analyze the result and to facilitate
teachers in assessing learning outcomes. Besides, ICT can be integrated in completing student’s task
such as portfolio and project-based assessment. ICT provides opportunities for students to create
electronic versions of their portfolio. ICT can also support students to complete their project. It is
essential for teachers to realize that the rubric used to assess e-portfolios and projects must also assess
students’ technology use.

2. As a future teacher, I will assess my student in the following ways.

a) Oral Interview – I can do a one-on-one interview with each of my students to get a good idea of
their listening and speaking abilities.
b) Class Presentation – using any kind of presentation that related to technology, like PowerPoint
presentation and video presentation.
c) Assessment – using online platforms.

3. DISADVANTAGES
 Misleading and misguiding information
 Risk of cyber attacks and hacks
 A risk to the traditional book and handwriting methods
 Implementing computers and the internet for ICT replace the convention education curriculums
 Managing courses online is difficult
 Misuse of technology
 Not accessible everywhere
 Teachers require experience to handle ICT
 implementing computers and the internet is expensive
ADVANTAGES
 Enhanced the modes of communication
 Cost-efficient
 Paperless: Eliminate the usage of paper. Eco-friendly
 A better teaching and learning methods
 Enhanced data and information security
 Minimize cost and save time
 Easy student management
 Automatic solutions to manual paper-based processes and procedures
 Interactive and collaborative teaching and learning methods
 Direct classroom teaching
 Spread awareness of the social impact of technological change in education
 Independent learning platforms for students
 Teachers can teach better with images, videos and graphics while delivering lessons
 Educators can create engaging, interesting, and well-designed classroom activities
 Improve the administration and enhance the quality and efficiency of education
 Promote and improve the digital culture in schools, colleges, and universities

Conventional Assessment Method

Conventional, more traditional, assessment tools evaluate what skills students can perform with success. They
are generally knowledge-based, versus hands-on or performance-based. They include traditional types of tests
like multiple-choice, short answer essays or constructed responses, and standardized tests such as those districts
administer to all students.

4. There are four considerations to examine when designing an appropriate assessment method that will
reflect the established learning goals and activities:
A. Reliability is the extent to which a questionnaire, test, observation or any measurement procedure
produces the same results over a period of time.
B. Standardization establishes a set precedence, therefore enhancing an assignment, test or
projects’ reliability.
C.  Validity is defined as, the extent to which the instrument measures what it sets out to measure.
Teachers must identify the expected learning outcomes and goals of the course in order to
appropriately assess student work.
D. Practicality refers to the action of the assessment method and its relevance to the overall learning
goals in the course. It also addresses whether or not the workload for the instructor is reasonable.

What I know
 Online distance education is a method of studying in which lectures are broadcast or classes are conducted by
correspondence or over the internet, without the student's needing to attend a school.

What I want to know

 I want to know how effective this online distance education for the students. Also, what is the
advantages and disadvantages of this method. And how about the other student that has no
materials for this kind of method.

What I learned
 In some cases it is really hard for me to study in the online distance education. But then, I’ve
learned to stand up on my own. I also learned to explore new things in the world of technologies.
