Summary
One day in 2022, two years after the Lighthouse War that broke out on the Usean Continent in
2019, the superpower Osean Federation, which was also a party to the war, suddenly transferred
to another world…
CHAPTER 1: Transition

22 years ago, in 1999, an asteroid crashed into the planet.

The meteorite hit the continent of Usea, which was facing the orbit, and the entire continent was
severely damaged. Refugees poured into the Republic of Erusea, the largest within the continent,
and the country was in ruins. In 2003, Erusea became desperate and started a war against all the
nations on the continent that were forcing refugees on them. The nations of the continent formed
a coalition to fight against Erusea, and the war, known as the “Continental War,” ended with
Erusea’s defeat.

In an attempt to save the nations of the Usean Continent from the pain of both the meteorite and
the war, the Osean Federation, a major power on another continent, reached out to them. Osea
had good intentions, but to Erusea, it looked like a structure to bring in domination. That’s why,
in 2019, the Kingdom of Erusea, which had restored the monarchy from the Republic, once again
took the fight to Usea and the nations across the continent. It is commonly referred to as the
“Second Continental War” – the “Lighthouse War”.

The war took a heavy toll on both Osea and Erusea, but Erusea was divided internally and the
war ended. Osea, who had been severely beaten up, decided to withdraw from Usea.

Two years and a few months later, on January 21, 2022, a new day arrived.

It came suddenly.

At the moment the date changed, the night sky all over of Osea glowed white, and soon after, all
communication and traffic with the rest of the world was physically cut off.

Osean Federation, Heierlark Air Force Base

In the Waldreich Mountains, right on the border between the Principality of Belka and the Osean
Federation, lies the Heierlark Air Base of the Osean Air Defense Force. Its command facility was
now in a state of chaos.

“Report! We’ve lost satellite signals. Satellite communications and GPS are down!”
“Communication with Central still not restored!? What the hell was that light just now!?”
“F-22A fighters scrambled from the main base. We’re on our way to check the situation.”
20 minutes ago, there was an unusual phenomenon that suddenly brightened the night sky. The
cause is unknown, but the base’s alert level has been raised to maximum due to the possibility of
an EMP attack.

“Shit, what the hell is going on?”

The deputy commander of the early warning unit quietly raised his voice at the reports coming in
one after another to the command center. The commander is currently absent, and this man, the
deputy commander, is the acting commander. The deputy commander, who had served as a
frontline AWACS during the Circum-Pacific War 12 years ago, had a weakness for sudden
situations, and if he could, he would have given up this job right now.

“Deputy commander!”

At that moment, one of the command center operators called out to the deputy commander,
pressing the speaker of his headset to his ear. With a look of disbelief on his face, the operator
shouted.

“F-22A fighters on an emergency launch from the main base reported! Belka has disappeared!”
“…Huh?”

The deputy commander stiffened at the report.

Five hours later…

Osean Federation, Capital Oured / Bright Hill, Presidential Palace of Osea

The huge city of Oured is the largest city in Osea and the capital of the Federation. In the office
of Bright Hill, the presidential residence located in a corner of the city, the 50th president of the
Osean Federation was desperately trying to suppress the urge to hold his head in his hands.

“I mean, what is it? The moment the night sky lit up, the neighboring countries of Belka, Ustio,
and Sapin disappeared and became an ocean, and there was no contact with Yuke across the sea
or the satellites in the sky?” He asks his secretary as he takes office as the next in line after
Vincent Harling, the 48th President of Osea, who was famous in many ways.
“Yes, technically, the satellite has been lost not only in contact but also visually, and the
Ministry of Science and Technology reports that it has practically disappeared.”
It all started five hours ago, at exactly midnight, when the night sky was suddenly enveloped in a
white light. Shortly thereafter, coast guard and air and naval patrol aircraft reported that land
neighbors such as Belka, Ustio, Sapin, and Perbla had disappeared and become an ocean. In
addition, the control center at the Bassett International Space Station reported that the loss of
signal with satellites and the space station had rendered some satellite-based devices, such as
GPS, unusable. For some reason, civilians of Osean nationality who were outside the country, as
well as military personnel and supplies who were deployed abroad, appeared in open areas of the
home country, and ships and aircraft that were underway even appeared in ports and airports of
the home country.

At first, Bright Hill considered the possibility of an EMP attack accompanied by a nuclear
explosion at high altitude, since the GPS-related equipment malfunctioned immediately after the
flash. At any rate, the neighboring Principality of Belka was a former nuclear power that had
dropped seven tactical nuclear weapons on its own territory during the Belkan War. Although
Belka destroyed its nuclear arsenal in the aftermath of the Belkan War, it may still have nuclear
weapons hidden in its arsenal.

That’s why Osea suspected that the mysterious phenomenon was the work of Belka, but it was
quickly determined that this was not the case. Belka that seemed to have attacked them in the
first place had disappeared. There was no way they would go to the trouble of wiping out their
own country to do so. However, they can’t say that for sure, since Belka is the kind of country
that would drop a nuclear weapon on their own country.

In the Lighthouse War of 2019, Erusea almost fired a nuclear weapon at Osea. Strictly speaking,
it was not the Erusean military, but that does not change the fact that Erusea had nuclear
weapons. However, even if Erusea had fired a nuke and caused an EMP failure, the damage was
too small to be denied. In the first place, Erusea should have renounced its weapons of mass
destruction after the war at the peace conference.

Anyway, in addition to the theory of a nuclear attack by Belka and Erusea, several other theories
have been proposed for this mysterious event. For example, the theory that fragments of
meteorites (Ulysses) in orbit fell all at once, the theory that the entire country around Osea sank
to the bottom of the ocean due to a natural catastrophe-level volcanic earthquake, and so on. All
of them lacked convincing evidence, but there was one theory that was the most plausible, yet
the most improbable.

“Osea has been transported to another world…” The president muttered.

Yes, that was the theory that Osea had been transported to some other world. It would be a
laughable story to say that the entire country was transported to some other world, but the
evidence provided made it impossible for people to do so.
The biggest reason for this was a report from the Ministry of Science and Technology.

“In addition to the disappearance of the satellite, the pieces of Ulysses in orbit have
disappeared. Also, the celestial bodies in the sky have changed drastically. At the very least,
the sky above us is filled with stars we can’t see on Earth.”

In other words, the satellites and Ulysses have disappeared and the starry sky has changed. The
fact that there is a starry sky that cannot be seen on Earth means that they are not on Earth, and
since the evidence is in place, this theory is the most likely one. And as a bonus, the countless
fragments of the abominable Ulysses in orbit have all disappeared.

On July 8, 1999, the asteroid 1994XF04, also known as Ulysses, entered the Roche limit of the
Earth, broke into pieces, and fell to the surface. The interception of the meteorite by Stonehenge,
a huge surface-to-air railgun facility that intercepts and destroys meteorites, was unsuccessful,
and many pieces of the asteroid fell to the surface without burning up in the atmosphere. At first,
it was expected that the humanity would be annihilated, but this was not the case – at the cost of
an enormous casualty toll of about 500.000 people.

In addition to this, the refugee problem and economic depression that occurred in the continents
of Usea and Anea as a result of Ulysses’s impact caused wars and civil wars. If the victims of the
war are included, the number of casualties caused by Ulysses rose to 20 million. This is the
“Ulysses Disaster”.

The Lighthouse War of two years ago was practically caused by Ulysses disaster, and there are
many people who hate Ulysses even among the Oseans. And the bad thing is that some of the
debris drifted in orbit without falling to the surface, and fell when it is forgotten. Osea has been
working hard to remove the debris, but even now, 22 years after the impact, there are still many
pieces left in orbit.

But all of a sudden, it was gone. They felt as if all their efforts had been in vain, but they should
be happy that the abominable disaster was gone. But the fact that the fragments of Ulysses had
disappeared and they could see a different starry sky meant that there was no doubt that Osea had
been transported to another planet.

“Either way, we’re going to have to do something about it.” The President told his secretary.
“Put me through to the Department of Defense. We need to survey the area around the mainland.
We’ll need to send out some military aircraft.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Also the Ministry of Science and Technology. If this is not Earth, there may be unknown
dangerous pathogens and bacteria. We need to order an air and water quality survey
immediately.”
“Understood.”

The secretary picked up the phone on his desk and called the operator on the other end of the line
to connect him to the Department of Defense.

“If push comes to shove, we’ll have to consider invoking the Emergency Powers Act for the first
time since the Lighthouse War…”

The President chuckled to himself as he looked behind him at his secretary.

Notes
- F-22A Raptor
The world’s first practical stealth fighter developed by the Osean Federation. Since its
first deployment in the Belkan War in 1995, it has participated in several wars. With its
high stealth and maneuverability, supercruise capability, high-performance avionics, and
long-range AAM, it boasts tremendous air combat capabilities and has long reigned as
the world’s most powerful fighter. It is especially famous as the piloted aircraft of the
legendary ace pilot Mobius 1, known by the nickname “The Ribbon”. Currently, its radar
and electronic equipment are becoming obsolete compared to newer aircraft such as the
F-35, and Osea is in the process of modernizing and refurbishing them. It is very similar
to the F-22A developed by the US in our world.
- Stonehenge
Giant anti-aircraft railgun complex built by the nations of the Usean Continent to
intercept the Ulysses asteroid. The official name of the gun is the 120 cm surface-to-air
combined magnetic gunpowder acceleration semi-automatic fixed gun. The name
“Stonehenge” comes from the fact that the sight of eight of these guns lined up in a circle
looked like ruins. When it intercepted Ulysses, it played a major role in preventing the
extinction of the humanity, but it could not prevent the enormous loss of 500.000 lives.
Also, because it is so effective as an anti-aircraft weapon, it has a sad history of being
deployed in war twice as a weapon to kill people, even though it was built to protect
people.

CHAPTER 2: Encountering the Unknown

January 23, 2022, 08:00

Ocean, 600 km west of Osean mainland
Over the western ocean of the Osean Federation, two F-16C Fighting Falcon fighters belonging
to the OADF were flying in the sky above the surface of the ocean, which seemed to go on
forever beyond the horizon. In the cockpit, of course, was an Osean soldier.

“Mage 1 to Mage 3, what have you got?”

“This is Mage 3, nothing. It’s the ocean all the way.”

The two F-16 fighters, whose callsigns were Mage 1 and Mage 3, were currently on a
reconnaissance flight. They are part of the Osean military planes that were deployed on a
presidential order to survey the area around Osea, and they are carrying photographic equipment
under their wings. It is a dangerous flight in the absence of GPS navigation support due to the
recent loss of satellites, but the AWACS deployed ahead of them always reports the rough
position of the two aircraft by radar, so they won’t get lost.

“Mage 1 to AWACS Windmaker. No harvest so far along with Mage 3.”

The pilot of the F-16 Mage 1, who is the formation commander, used to be a member of the
IUN’s International Peackeeping Force stationed in Usea, commonly referred to as the IUN-
PKF.

Since the Circum-Pacific War in 2010, the Osean Federation has come to believe that it is its
mission as a superpower to maintain peace to the world, and has stationed its own troops around
the world out of sheer good will as the world’s police. Of course, Osea also sent a large number
of its own military forces to the IUN-PKF, and just before the start of the Lighthouse War, the
IUN-PKF had deployed a large force, including four large aircraft carriers, to the Usean
Continent.

Mage 1 had also been dispatched to the IUN-PKF as part of the OADF, along with other pilots
and Osean military personnel. It was rumored that the number of the personnel dispatched to the
IUN-PKF was as high as 50% of the entire force.

However, a turning point came in 2019, when the Lighthouse War broke out between the
Kingdom of Erusea and Osea. This war was started by the Kingdom of Erusea, which took the
“good will” of Osea as “domination,” in order to drive Osea out of its own continent. While Osea
is a superpower, Erusea is a mere medium-sized nation. Erusea, which was inferior in terms of
national power, countered the superpower with drones and cyber warfare, but by the latter half of
the war, neither friend nor foe was known, and the war ended in an ambiguous manner.

In the process of such a war, the Osean military suffered heavy losses. To top it all off,
immediately after the war started, all of the carriers that were at anchor or under construction
were damaged by Erusea’s surprise attack, and nearly half of them were sunk. In addition, the
land and air units of the Osea that had been dispatched to the Usean Continent were also
exhausted by the volume of drones. Furthermore, due to the confusion caused by the breakdown
of satellite communication network in the middle of the war, as mentioned earlier, both friend
and foe became unknown, and there were many shootouts.

The battle around the orbital elevator at the end of the war caused the last major damage to the
Osean forces, and many other forces were lost for various reasons. The fact that the military
budget was greatly cut for post-war reconstruction also added to the decline in the strength of the
Osean military. To sum it up, the loss of strength in the Lighthouse War forced the Oseans to
pull back their troops from overseas and devote most of them to the defense of the country,
which has a huge territory of 22 million square kilometers.

Mage 1 also belonged to the IUN-PKF, but was brought back to the country after the Lighthouse
War. The IUN-PKF now has only a small number of troops, and those few troops have also
suffered from a mysterious phenomenon: a few days ago, they suddenly appeared in a vacant lot
in the country.

“This is AWACS Windmaker. Mage Squadron, you should still have some fuel left. Continue with
the survey flight.”
“Mage 1, wilco.”

As soon as the government learned of the transition of the Osean Federation, they immediately
ordered Osean military aircraft to investigate the area around the country. Only military
personnel of the rank of lieutenant or above were informed of the transfer, and of course the
pilots were all officers, so they knew about it.

In any case, the government wanted information, so in addition to Mage 1’s F-16s and other
fighter planes, they sent out all kinds of aircraft to investigate, including B-52s and other
strategic bombers that could fly long distances, U-2s and other reconnaissance planes, P-1s and
other patrol planes, and so on.

“Mage 3 to Mage 1. I see something ahead.”

The young voice of Mage 3, Mage 1’s wingman, who was a nugget who had just come up from
the training squadron, reached Mage 1 through the radio. The decline in strength was also
causing inexperienced pilots to be sent to the front lines.

“Hmm? Is that… land?”

At that moment, Mage 1 also caught sight of something on the horizon beyond the canopy. A
part of the horizon was black and rising low, and as he got closer, he could see some green. It
was definitely land. But something was wrong. Normally, they are in the middle of the Ceres
Ocean. But as far as Mage 1 and Mage 3 could see, there was definitely land there.

“Well, I’ll be damned. I didn’t expect to see land here…”

At the moment it was still too far away to see anything but a black rise on the horizon, but there
was no doubt that it was land. It’s probably the land of this world that appeared after Osea’s
transfer. If so, it’s a great discovery.

“Mage 1, Mage 3, this is Windmaker, we have an emergency.”

Suddenly, a radio transmission came in from the AWACS in the rear.

“An Unknown has appeared at an azimuth of 270, distance 120 kilometers, and an altitude of
14.000 feet, as seen from your position. No response on IFF.”

The sudden report of an Unknown was immediately followed by a data link that delivered the
data captured by the AWACS radar and displayed on the F-16’s display. Of all things, the
Unknown seemed to be coming from the direction of the land in question.

“Unknown? What’s the speed?”

After a short pause, the AWACS operator responds.

“It’s about 200 km/h, which is pretty slow. That’s about the speed of a Cessna or a helicopter.
Mage 1, Mage 3 approach the Unknown. Confirm this.”
“Mage 1, wilco.”
“Mage 3, wilco.”

Mage 1 and Mage 3 accelerated their F-16s to approach the Unknown. Mage 3 reacted first as
they approached the remaining 20 km to the Unknown.

“…Tally ho. 1 o’clock. Slightly low.”

Mage 1 looked in the direction that Mage 3 had mentioned, and confirmed with his own naked
eye that a small black dot was flying there.

“Mage 1, I see it too. I’m going to approach and check the unknown aircraft.”
The pilots of the two F-16s steered their aircraft in the direction of the unidentified aircraft and
approached. As they approached, the full extent of the unidentified aircraft gradually became
apparent, and at a distance of 10 kilometers, the two pilots were rendered speechless by the
strange appearance of the unidentified aircraft.

“What the hell is that…?”

Its shape and appearance had enough power to make them cringe. It had a red color that stood
out in the sky, and it flapped its wings like a bird.

“Dragon…?”

January 13, 1639 Central Calendar, same time

Above the coast of Rodenius Continent

Dragon knight Maarpatima of the Qua-Toyne Principality’s Flying Dragon Corps was flying a
patrol around the mainland that day, riding his partner wyvern. In the middle of this, he and his
partner encountered a strange flying object over the ocean.

“W-what!? What’s that!?”

It was two gray objects with sharp points, like arrowheads. With a high-pitched keening sound
that seemed to cut through the air, they flew at a super-high speed that far surpassed the wyverns.

“W-what a speed!!”

The wyvern’s speed was only a little over 200 km/h, while the speed of the unidentified riders
was probably over 1.000 km/h. It’s hard to keep up with them when they’re trying to attack.

“Damn it! We can’t catch up!” Maarpatima gave up the chase, swearing and sending a magic
transmission to the command center.

“Command, command! This is Maarpatima! I’ve encountered unidentified riders, and I’m trying
to attack, but they’re too fast for me to catch up! The unidentified riders are heading towards
Maihark!”

Maarpatima’s message was immediately relayed to the headquarters of the Qua-Toyne

Principality, and a large number of wyverns immediately took off from the bases. Maihark,
where the unidentified riders were headed, was an economic city, and the command center
seemed to have realized the danger of the current situation.

That’s why the Principality command ordered an all-out sortie. However, in the end, the Qua-
Toyne’s key attack on the unidentified riders did not succeed. The reason for this was that they
were too fast for the attack to be successful. The two unidentified riders proceeded deep into the
country without being intercepted by the dragon knights, and flew freely over the principality,
finally reaching the sky above the economic city of Maihark in the Qua-Toyne Principality.

A few minutes later

Over Maihark

The two F-16 fighters encountered an unidentified dragon, then swept past it at high speed and
began reconnaissance of the mysterious land, during which they spotted what appeared to be a
city on the land and attempted to reconnoiter it with photographic equipment.

“Just when you thought you’d encountered a dragon-riding human, now you see a city that looks
like it’s from the Middle Ages… Is this from the Belka Dynasty?”

As Mage 1 maneuvered the agile aircraft, he films the ground with a camera hanging under the
wing. The cobblestone, the buildings are stone or brick, and the roofs seem to be tiled, but there
seems to be some glass technology, as the windows reflect the sunlight.

“Mage 3 to Mage 1. There are many of the same dragons that we saw earlier down below. There
are 12 of them. Are they on an emergency sortie?”

Mage 1 looked from the display showing the ground camera images to the radar scope screen
showing radar information. It showed that his radar had indeed picked up twelve flying objects.

“It could be. We’re violating the airspace as much as we can right now. But…”

Mage 1 thought for a moment, then quickly opened his mouth again.

“If that’s the case, the time before the emergency sortie seems too short. Maybe they have a
radio or some other form of communication.”

In truth, Mage 1’s guess was true, but it would be a long time before they knew that. The two
planes circled, taking several images of the otherworldly city.
At the same time
Maihark City

“It’s too fast.”

Ine, the leader of the Maihark Defense Knights, who belonged to the Principality Army, was
staring at the unidentified riders from a watchtower at her post in Maihark. In the sky, two
strange objects, clearly different from wyverns, are flying at high speed while circling. They
made a high-pitched squealing sound, lost a bit of altitude, and circled over and over again over
Maihark. It was a clear violation of airspace, but at such a high altitude, bows and arrows
couldn’t reach it, and the wyverns couldn’t catch up. Currently, there is no way to counter it.

“We can’t handle it…”

Ine tried to aim her bow and arrow at the flying object, but the speed of the unidentified riders
was too fast for her to catch it in her sights. And since it was flying too high for the bow and
arrow to reach, it was unlikely to reach it.

“It’s useless…”

Giving up, Ine lowered her bow, and underneath the two flying objects, the inhabitants of
Maihark were fleeing, and the wyverns, unable to catch up, was staring at the sky in frustration.
It was frustrating, but there was nothing she could do. The flying objects circled several times,
but eventually flew away to the northeast.

“Is there something to the northeast…?” Ine muttered as she watched the iron dragons fly away.

On this day, the two F-16 fighter planes belonging to the OADF were to discover this
otherworldly land.

Notes
- F-16 Fighting Falcon
A small light fighter made by Osea. It was developed to assist the F-15 Eagle, a large
mainstay air superiority fighter. Incorporating the most advanced technology available at
the time of its development, such as fly-by-wire, it achieved high maneuverability and
stability at the same time. Because of its versatility and superior cost, it has been adopted
and operated in many countries around the world. It is very similar to the F-16, a fighter
plane developed by the United States in the real world.

CHAPTER 3: First Contact

January 23, 2022, 13:00

Osean Federation, Capital Oured / Bright Hill, Presidential Palace of Osea

Osean President, who has been holed up in his office at Bright Hill ever since the discovery of
the recent transference phenomenon, heard back the report from the Air Force in a puzzled tone.

“Dragons?”

Dozens of hours had already passed since the Osean Federation had been transferred to another
world, but investigations by the OADF and the Ministry of Science and Technology had revealed
several new secrets.

First of all, the post-transition planet has a larger diameter than the previous planet, and the
horizon appears to be farther away. Secondly, the composition of the atmosphere and oceans is
almost the same as before the transition, and so far, no dangerous pathogens or bacteria have
been found. Then, they discovered a civilization 800 kilometers west of Osea. Finally, the
existence of fantasy creatures such as dragons and other creatures that do not exist on Earth.
These are the four.

There were a few other things that they found out, but these are the most important for now. The
latter two had just been conveyed to the President by the Minister of Defense who had been
transferred to Bright Hill. The Minister of Defense had just received the report from the OADF
officer, and when he was first told about it, it was so ridiculous that he questioned the officer’s
sanity and called in the MP. Of course, the misunderstanding was cleared up.

“So, the dragon is from a civilization on the western continent…”

The President repeated the report that the Minister of Defense had just given him, as if he was
confirming it by himself. This is a different world, so anything can happen, but even so, it’s still
unbelievable.

“Mr. President, if we can make contact with this civilization and establish diplomatic relations,
we may be able to obtain information about this world.”
The President slowly nodded his head in agreement to the Minister of Defense’s suggestion. The
Minister of Defense, eager to do his job, has been standing motionless by his desk in the Oval
Office since he came to brief the President.

“So… should we send a diplomat to make contact?”

Anyway, there are too many unknowns in this world. If Osea want information about this world,
they need a source of information. They would like to establish diplomatic relations with the
civilizations of this world that can be the source of this information.

“Can we send a naval vessel?” The President asked the Minister of Defense a short question,
which he answered immediately.
“Yes, all available ships are already ready for emergency sortie. There are some areas where the
depths are unknown due to the shifts, but if we can avoid them by having survey ships
accompany us, we should have no problem.”
“So we’ll take a survey ship from the Navy and, well… there’s too much we don’t know about
this world. Let’s get an aircraft carrier to accompany us just in case. We’ll also need a couple of
destroyers for escort.”

The government of the Osean Federation decided to make contact with the civilizations on this
world’s continent that the OADF had found, and dispatched a fleet of one aircraft carrier, three
guided missile destroyers, and one survey ship, with diplomats on the carrier.

- Hubert II-class aircraft carrier Admiral Andersen

- Arleigh Burke-class destroyers Balearic, Eastern Cattle, and Sacred
- Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration survey ship Common Reed

This was how the fleet was organized, and this temporarily organized fleet advanced westward
across the ocean.

January 25, 1639 Central Calendar

Qua-Toyne Principality

The political subcommittee of the Qua-Toyne Principality was still discussing the unidentified
riders that had attacked Maihark a few days ago.

The two unidentified riders flew at high speed without flapping their wings, emitting a high-
pitched sound, and easily broke through the air defense network of the country. They were
expected to be from the hostile country of Louria or the powerful Parpaldia, but the two riders
flew in from the northeast direction, and there was no country in that direction.

Discussions were held several times, but in the end, their identity was never ascertained. In the
meantime, the committee ordered the military to be on high alert and prepare for another attack
by the unidentified riders. For several days now, the Qua-Toyne Principality has been
increasingly vigilant centered on Maihark, and has ordered the knights and wyverns of various
regions to be on alert.

And it is the same day for the navy, which has a number of wooden sailing ships, its main
vessels, on patrol duty at sea. Among them was the warship Pima, home port of Maihark, a
member of the Qua-Toyne Navy’s Second Fleet.

January 25, 1639 Central Calendar, 11:00

Northeast Sea off the coast of the Qua-Toyne Principality

Captain Midori was dismayed to find himself on board the Pima, a warship of the Qua-Toyne
Principality. The military had been put on alert several days ago, and Pima had been ordered by
the naval command to conduct an urgent patrol. Pima’s patrol area was in the northeastern
waters closest to where the unidentified riders had come from the other day.

Meanwhile, Pima’s lookout had spotted five ships near the horizon. The navy commander
ordered them to check all suspicious objects, so they went to check them out and found that they
were the biggest ships they had ever seen.

“What is that thing? It’s like a fortress floating on the sea…”

It was an unfamiliar sight, all five ships were gray in color, and the structure on the hull was so
large that it reminded them of a fortress tower. On the masts, which were not under sail, fluttered
a national flag that he had never seen before.

The flag was white in the upper half and dark blue in the lower half, with six pointed stars in the
center and a small five-pointed star floating in the upper right corner. But Midori had never seen
a flag like that before.

“What country does that flag belong to, Vice-Captain?”

“No, I’m afraid I don’t know that flag either, sir.”
“Then do you know of any country that has a ship as big as that?”
“Well… I’ve seen what they call 100-gun ship-of-the-line when I went to Parpaldia for naval
school training a few years ago, but those five ships are all bigger than that.”

The vice-captain was right, all five of the ships were bigger than anything he had ever seen. Even
the four relatively small ships were 150 meters long. The one with “ADMIRAL ANDERSEN”
written on its hull in a language he had never seen before was probably over 300 meters long.

“Captain… what do we do?”

“…Contact the command center. We’ll make contact now.”

Pima approached the five large ships with trepidation, but was not attacked at all. Rather, a large
group of what appeared to be sailors came out on the deck of the huge ship and waved at Pima.

“They’re waving… apparently they’re not planning on going to war.”

Midori was relieved to hear that the other side seemed to be friendly. In addition to Midori, the
vice-captain and the entire crew aboard the Pima did the same. At that moment, the largest of the
five ships called out in a voice so loud it was hard to believe it was human.

“This is the Osean Maritime Defense Force, this is the Osean Maritime Defense Force. To
ship in front of us, state your affiliation.”

Midori wondered if they were using the magical loudspeakers he had heard about, but it didn’t
matter. He’d never heard of a country called ‘Osea’. What kind of country is this, with its flag
and name?

“This is the Qua-Toyne Navy! Your ship is violating the territorial waters of the Qua-Toyne
Principality! State the purpose of your ship’s voyage!” Midori shouted back at the large ship as
loudly as he could. For some reason, the people on deck started to shout. It was as if they were
surprised that he could understand them. After a short pause, the large ship replied.

“The purpose of this ship is to conduct diplomatic negotiations with your country, but we do
not have diplomatic channels with your country. We request your ship to lead us to your
country.”

I see, Midori thought. If they don’t have diplomatic channels, it’s not surprising that Midori
doesn’t know the country of Osea, and it’s not surprising that they would go to the trouble of
intruding their territorial waters.

“I need some time! Just wait a moment!”

Midori raised his voice and returned to the large ship. Then he quickly turned back to the vice-
captain and ordered, “Contact the naval command center.” The request from the large ship from
the country of Osea was delivered via manacom to the naval command center in Maihark, and
then to the political committee. A short time later, Pima received an order to lead the Osean ship
to the port of Maihark.

“This ship will now lead your ship to the home port of Maihark! I want you to follow us!”

Pima turned around and head for her home port of Maihark with five large Osean ships in tow.

On this day, the newest carrier of the OMDF, the Admiral Andersen, carrying the diplomat,
along with three guided missile destroyers and a survey ship, succeeded in making contact with
the ships of the Qua-Toyne Principality, a nation in the other world.

Notes
- Hubert II-class aircraft carrier
A large aircraft carrier operated by the OMDF. It is an air base at sea capable of operating
over 70 aircrafts. It has a full range of aviation outfitting, including angled decks, port
elevators, optical landing systems, steam catapults, arresting wires, etc., and boasts a high
level of aircraft operation capability. It was built as an improved version of the Hubert-
class aircraft carriers that the OMDF had been operating until now (the same type of
ships includes the aircraft carriers Kestrel and Barbet), and the same type of ships were
assigned to the mainstays of each fleet. However, due to the sinking of many ships of the
same type during the Lighthouse War, only a few ships are currently in service. The
Hubert III-class aircraft carrier (equivalent to the GR Ford-class) is currently under
construction as a successor. It is the equivalent of the US Navy’s Nimitz-class aircraft
carrier in the real world.
- Arleigh Burke-class destroyer
The mainstay Aegis destroyer of the OMDF. It was built as a successor to the Cassard-
class destroyers and OH Perry-class frigates, and many of them were assigned to the
fleet. Armament includes a 5-inch (127 mm) single rapid-fire gun, VLS, 20 mm CIWS,
25 mm single machine gun, and short torpedo tubes. It also carries a patrol helicopter for
anti-submarine use. Although many of the ships were sunk during the Lighthouse War, it
is still the numerical mainstay of the OMDF due to the large number of ships of the same
type. It is the equivalent of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the real world.

CHAPTER 4: Talks
January 25, 2022/1639 Central Calendar, 14:20
Qua-Toyne Principality, Economic City Maihark

Kanata, the Prime Minister of the Qua-Toyne Principality, and Rinsui, the Minister of Foreign
Affairs, along with their followers, decided to meet with the diplomats of the country of Osea.
The meeting took place at a certain trading post in the city of Maihark, and the two of them sat in
chairs in the trading post’s reception room, waiting for the arrival of the Osean diplomats.

From the window of the reception room, they could side the port of Maihark and five huge ships
anchored in the sea. As Kanata looked at the huge ships in the distance, he remembered what had
just happened at the political meeting.

A few hours ago

The political meeting is held in the center of the capital, in an unexpectedly fairy-tale place
called the Lotus Garden, where a table is set up in the middle of a lotus garden covered with
water. As with the previous day, that day’s political meeting was filled with discussion about the
two unidentified riders that had flown into Maihark.

“Hm? Commander of the Second Fleet!? What’s going on, we’re in a political meeting!!”

A sudden intruder appeared at the political meeting. It was Commander Nouka, who controlled
the naval command center in Maihark. Rinsui, the foreign minister, shouted at the intruder who
suddenly appeared, but Kanata stopped him.

“Enough, Foreign Minister. This is an urgent matter. What is it, Commander Nouka?”

Rinsui snorted and backed off, while Nouka, at his urging, began to report in a calm, low voice.

“Yes, I’m here on urgent business. A short time ago, the Second Fleet warship Pima came into
contact with five huge ships, claiming their nationality as Osea, and requesting diplomatic
negotiations. The Pima is currently leading the fleet to Maihark.”
“What does it matter?”

The military commander asked Nouka, who didn’t seem too sure about the situation. He had
never heard of the country of Osea, but it was common for countries in the region to send
military ships to seek diplomatic negotiations without making an appointment.

“The colossal ship is over 300 meters long.”

“300 meters!?”
“Yes. It’s also possible that this is related to the unidentified riders that flew into Maihark the
other day. If Osea has the technology to build a 300-meter-long ship, it’s possible that they have
a dragon species that can easily outrun a wyvern.”

The participants of the political meeting looked at each other. There was nothing they could do
about the unidentified riders that had flown to Maihark the other day.

“But if Osea is sending us unidentified riders, it’s clearly hostile action!! What the hell is wrong
with you!?”
“And Osea, you say!? I’ve never even heard of that country, turn them away!!”

The conference room was filled with shouts of anger. There was no way around it, if they had
acted in a clearly hostile manner by violating the airspace, and then asked for diplomatic
negotiations a few days later, there was a high probability that they were the enemy, and that
they would pose an impossible challenge.

“I say this, but I would like you to think about the situation surrounding our country. In addition
to the fact that the neighboring Louria Kingdom is exerting armed pressure on us, we don’t have
the capacity to deal with a country that has flying dragons that can fly faster than wyverns and
super-large ships.”

His tone was strong, but he was certainly right. Their ally to the south, the Quila Kingdom, is a
poor country that doesn’t have a flying dragon, and they’ve been friends with them for a long
time, so they’re not a threat.

However, its neighbor to the west, Louria, has been massively expanding its military ships and
mobilizing large numbers of soldiers to put pressure on the border area, as if it is trying to start a
war. In such a situation, Qua-Toyne does not have the strength to go to war with the unknown
nation of Osea.

“Prime Minister, please make your decision.” Nouka pressed the Prime Minister.

Kanata thought for a moment, but then opened his mouth.

“You are right… Let’s have a meeting with Osea for now. At least we have to find out what they
came for.”

And now.
Just as Kanata and Rinsui’s minds were racing with the prospect of what was to come, a female
elven civil servant opened the door and walked into the reception room.

“Prime Minister, Lord Foreign Minister, the diplomat from Osea is here… Please come in,
mister diplomat. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister are waiting for you.”

The civil servant called out, and several crisp, oddly dressed human men entered the reception
room. Kanata and Rinsui left their seats, and the representative of the Osean side greeted them.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Hughes, a diplomat from Osea.”

“I am Kanata, Prime Minister of the Qua-Toyne Principality.”
“I’m Rinsui, Foreign Minister of the Principality.”

Finally, a meeting between the two countries—the first of kind in the world, according to the
Oseans—had begun. Hughes, a diplomat from the Osea side, immediately spoke.

“Well… I’d like to thank you for arranging this meeting so quickly.”
“Thank you for taking the time to come here. I’m sorry to be so quick, but we don’t know much
about your country, Osea. I would like to ask you to explain your country if possible.”

In fact, Kanata, as well as Rinsui, or rather, none of the people of Qua-Toyne have ever heard of
the name of the country of Osea, do not know the flag or the location of the country.

“It is no wonder that you don’t know our country, since we are not inhabitants of this world, after
all.”
“…? What the hell does that mean?”

Hughes said frankly in response to Rinsui’s question.

“It may sound absurd, but our country originally existed in another world. I don’t know what
happened to us a few days ago… but we suddenly moved to this world.”

Kanata and Rinsui looked at each other when Hughes answered, but Rinsui quickly continued.

“Do you have any proof that your country really came from another world?”
“There is not much evidence, but there is a world map of the world we used to live in. Here it
is…”

Hughes’s attendant pulls out an aerial projection display from his bag. The map was projected in
front of Kanata and Rinsui in their direction, showing an image of the world map.
Kanata and Rinsui were surprised to see a machine that could project a magical map in space, but
the content was more important right now.

What was projected was a surprisingly elaborate map. Qua-Toyne does have a map of the world,
but it is an overly sketchy map purchased from Parpaldia that looks like it was made in the 16th
century. However, this was a well-formed map that even an amateur could judge to be quite
accurate, and it had the names of places written on it (in unreadable characters).

But the shape of the map on it was very different, at least from the overly sketchy Parpaldian
map.

“In the middle of the map is the continent of North Osea, here is the Osean Federation, and
across the Ceres Ocean to the west is the Union of Yuktobanian Republics, a superpower like our
country. Have you ever heard of it…?”
“No, I’ve never heard of it.”
“I’ve been working as a foreign minister for a long time, but I’ve never heard of Yuktobania.”

This would not have been possible for a person from the pre-transition world who did not know
about the superpowers of the Osean Federation and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics.

“You’ve never heard of the Principality of Belka, the Kingdom of Erusea, the Republic of
Emmeria, the Federal Republic of Estovakia, the Kingdom of Nordennavic, Verusa, Nordlands,
or the Federation of Central Usea?”

They both shook their heads at Hughes’s question.

“I’ve never heard of any of them.”

“I knew it… I’m sorry, this only makes sense to us.”
“No, we don’t know of any country that can build a map machine in that space and that colossal
ship that you guys came on. Well, the Holy Milishial Empire and Mu might be able to do it, but
I’m more convinced that it was built by a country from another world.”

Hughes remembered that in Rinsui’s words, the countries of Milishial and Mu might have the
same technological capabilities as their own.

“By the way, our country was invaded by unidentified riders the other day, is that…?”
“Yes, there is no doubt about it, it was our country that did it. Our country was also confused by
the suddenness of this situation, so… we would like to apologize on this occasion.”
“No, it can’t be helped. If we were in your shoes, we would have done the same thing.”
“Thank you very much.”
At this point, Kanata and Rinsui finally decided that Osea was not a dangerous country like
Louria.

“Our country, Osea, would like to establish friendly relations with your country. So… we have
one thing we would like to ask you.”
“…What is it?”

If Hughes was to make an unreasonable request, both Kanata and Rinsui would politely decline.
But the words that came out of Hughes’s mouth were far from alarming.

“…It’s information. We want information about this world. If you can’t answer, you don’t have
to. But if you provide us with the information, we will pay you a reasonable price.”

Kanata and Rinsui looked at each other again. Information has a certain value. But it is a very
tasty proposal, just to provide that information and get paid back.

“I can’t give you an immediate answer, but I’ll do what I can. Let’s have a working-level
discussion in the near future.”
“Thank you very much. I look forward to a good response.”

And thus the first meeting between the Osean Federation and the Qua-Toyne Principality came
to an end.

Later, a working-level conference was held between Osea and Qua-Toyne, and two weeks later,
the two countries officially established diplomatic relations.

CHAPTER 5: The Beginning of Turmoil

March 22, 1639 Central Calendar

Qua-Toyne Principality, Capital Qua-Toyne

It had been almost two months since the Osean Federation had established diplomatic relations
with the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom. It was also the most transformative day
in the history of Qua-Toyne.

Osea asked Qua-Toyne to export information about this world, and Qua-Toyne complied. The
Quila Kingdom also has a treasure trove of underground resources, according to Osea, and the
Quila Kingdom exports a large amount to Osea in exchange for information.
Osea, on the other hand, proposed domestic development in both countries in exchange for the
above, including highways connecting major cities, long-distance railroads connecting nations,
and port facilities that can accommodate large ships of several hundred meters in size.

All of this has stimulated the logistics between the two countries like a clogged pipe flowing
through a muddy stream. The infrastructural systems coming in from Osea would fundamentally
change the way of life in Qua-Toyne and Quila.

They did not require magic. Advanced water technology, electricity to power various things,
propane gas to start a fire with a simple twist of the hand. There is a story that the person in
charge of the economic department was so shocked when he saw the samples that he collapsed,
saying that the country would become incredibly wealthy.

“It’s amazing, isn’t it, the country of Osea? It is clearly beyond the level of civilized nations.”

Kanata, the Prime Minister of the Qua-Toyne Principality, spoke to his secretary standing beside
him in a state of unrestrained excitement. Kanata has been acting like this ever since he got
involved with Osea.

“Perhaps our country will surpass the civilized nations in terms of living standards.”
“It is still unthinkable that our frontier nation could have a standard of living that exceeds that of
the civilized nations, but even after reading the delegation’s report many times… I still can’t
believe it. But if this is true… our country will change a lot.”

Kanata and his secretary were filled with anticipation for the future of the country. Just last
month, a delegation had been dispatched to Osea to hold working-level talks on the conclusion of
diplomatic relations, and they had brought back a variety of information from Osea.

“But thank goodness they are pacifists… I shudder to think of the hegemony their technology
and national power could have won.”
“At least ostensibly. Well, but I heard that Osea was also at war just two years ago, but it’s nice
to know that they are still interacting with us peacefully. But there is another threat to us now…”
“Louria, yes…”

Kanata nodded seriously at the secretary’s words.

On the same day

Osean Federation, Capital Oured / Bright Hill, Presidential Palace of Osea
“It’s been two months since the transition…”

Osean President was talking to himself as he watched the news program of OBC, the largest
television station in Osea, on the TV in his office. A month ago, when the government officially
announced that the Osean Federation had been transferred to another world and had concluded
diplomatic relations with the Qua-Toyne Principality, the media was abuzz with excitement
every day. But within a week, the media had run out of topics to talk about, and now they were
all in the background. The OBC news program that the President was watching was now only
reporting on local events and crimes.

“Mr. President, I’m here to discuss trade plans and other matters.”

The Foreign Minister came to the President, who was watching TV, and presented him with
several documents. The President looked over the documents.

“As you know, our country has established diplomatic relations with two countries in this world.
The Qua-Toyne Principality and the neighboring Quila Kingdom, which we established
diplomatic relations with afterwards. The Qua-Toyne is an agricultural power with a self-
sufficiency rate of over 3.000%, and the Quila has large reserves of underground resources that
flow out of the ground.”
“…Underground resources aside, we don’t need food, do we?” The President muttered and the
Foreign Minister nodded.

The food self-sufficiency rate of Qua-Toyne is in the wrong order of magnitude—the country has
a population of three million, but with the blessings of the earth, it can produce enough food for
100 million people—but the President is no longer surprised to hear this.

“Well, it’s true that we don’t need food in Osea, which is self-sufficient in food. The only thing
we are currently importing from other countries is information. However, wouldn’t it be a good
idea to import food as a reserve for the future? Now that the food-exporting countries have
physically disappeared, we should be prepared in case our country has a bad harvest. I think we
should also import oil for the same reason, as a stockpile.”
“Not bad. What else do you have in mind? For example, contacts with other countries?”

The President looked at the documents and asked the Foreign Minister back, but there was no
answer. When the President looked up, he saw the Foreign Minister, his eyes wandering.

“…In fact, the other day we attempted to make contact with the Louria Kingdom, a country to
the west of the Rodenius Continent, but… we were turned away.”
“What?”
The President furrowed his brow.

“What do you mean?”

“A diplomat who went there said… ‘We can’t have diplomatic relations with a country that has
diplomatic relations with a hostile country of Qua-Toyne and Quila’…”
“Hostile country? …Oh, I’ve received such information via Qua-Toyne before.”

The President had no choice but to accept the situation. Because the “information” that he was
importing from Qua-Toyne included some information about Louria. According to him, the
Louria Kingdom’s national guideline is the annihilation of demi-humans, and the Qua-Toyne
Principality and Quila Kingdom, which have a high percentage of demi-humans in their
population, just can’t stand each other.

In this world, there are actually fantasy demi-humans such as elves and dwarves that appear in
mythology and North Point anime. He also found out later that there is magic in this world,
which made him feel that it is an interesting world.

“If Louria were to invade Qua-Toyne, what would we do about it?”

The President addressed the topic to the Foreign Minister, but it was the Minister of Defense,
who had entered the Oval Office before he knew it, who answered.

“Let me explain about that. In order to prepare for emergencies, our country has already built
straight roads in Maihark, Qua-Toyne, and Barlaat, which are thick enough and long enough to
be used as runways. In addition, a port facility and stockpile warehouse are being built in
Maihark, albeit on a small scale, and a large amount of fuel and ammunition has already been
brought to both countries. A railroad connecting the two cities has also been built. If the need
arises, the main force of the Osean military will be able to operate for a long time.”

The President was surprised to find that the preparations for war were much better than he had
expected. This means that as long as they send troops, they can start a war at any time.

“I see… well, in moderation.”

“Don’t worry about that. No troops are on the field yet. But don’t forget, according to our
information, Louria is expected to start a war soon. When that happens… I’ll be counting on
you.”
“I know, I know. But let’s hope it doesn’t start.”
Same day, 19:00
Louria Kingdom, Royal Capital Jin-Hark, Hark Castle

It’s a beautiful moonlit night, and even though it’s spring, the air is slightly chilly in Jin-Hark,
the capital of the Louria Kingdom. A large number of people are gathered in a conference room
in a corner of Hark Castle, located in the center of the city surrounded by three walls.

“King Louria, all preparations are in order.”

A muscular, middle-aged man in armor knelt down to speak to a mature man sitting in a
magnificent throne. His name is Patagene. He is the commander-in-chief of the Lourian Army.

“Can you win against two nations at once?” A dignified, mature man sitting in a throne asked
Patagene. He is the current king of Louria, King Hark Louria XXXIV.
“Don’t worry, one country is made up of peasants, and the other country is made up of barren
land dwellers, neither of which can defeat us.”
“Prime Minister, do you have any information on the country of Osea, which contacted you
about a month ago?” King Louria asked the Prime Minister.
“It is an emerging nation about 800 kilometers northeast of the Qua-Toyne Principality. 800
kilometers away, it is unlikely to have any military impact. Besides, they were surprised to see
our wyverns, saying they had never seen them before. It seems like a barbarian country where
wyverns don’t even exist. The fact that they have diplomatic relations with the Qua-Toyne is
worrisome, but… I don’t think the pose much of a threat.”
“Hmm, I see.”

King Louria nodded as he heard the conclusion that Osea would not be a threat. He could not
hide his joy at the fact that his wish from the previous kings, to eradicate the demi-humans and
unite Rodenius, was finally about to be fulfilled.

“The day will come when Rodenius will finally be united, and the abominable demi-humans will
be eradicated, and… I am glad.”
“Great King, don’t forget that promise when Rodenius is unified. Kukukuku…”
“I know!”

The man in the pitch-black robe whispered in a sickening voice to the king, and the king snapped
back angrily.

‘Damn you, you’re making fun of us, thinking we’re a barbaric land outside of civilization.
When I unite Rodenius, I’ll invade the Philades Continent.’
The man in the robe was an emissary sent by the Parpaldia Empire. Parpaldia was a powerful
country, and Louria had received support from the empire to prepare for this war. The king
decided to ask Patagene for an explanation to take his mind off things.

“Patagene, give us an overview of what’s going on.”

“Sir! The total number of troops for this operation is 500.000. 400.000 troops will be sent to the
Qua-Toyne Principality, and the rest will be for the defense of the mainland. As for Qua-Toyne,
the city of Gim, close to the border, will be raided and suppressed. As for the logistics, we will
procure them locally, as it is said that everywhere in that country are fields, and even the
livestock eat good food. After Gim is conquered, the capital city of Qua-Toyne will be
conquered in one fell swoop with a massive force. Our wyverns will be able to deal with the air
force in sufficient numbers. At the same time, from the sea, we will land a large fleet of 4.400
warships on the northern coast of Maihark and subdue it. Furthermore, the Quila Kingdom,
which is completely dependent on imports for food, will dry up simply by stopping exports from
Qua-Toyne. Their resistance would be meaningless in the face of overwhelming material
resources. Six years of preparation will bear fruit.”

Patagene finished his explanation. When he looked at the king, he noticed that he was trembling
slightly. For a moment, Patagene wondered what was going on, but he soon realized that King
Louria was pleased.

“Pfft… Haahahahahahaha!!” King Louria let out a satisfied laugh.

“Tonight is the best night of my life! The world grants war against Qua-Toyne and Quila!!!”
“““WOOHOO!!”””

The conference room was filled with a clamor. The war was about to begin.

CHAPTER 6: War Preparation

March 25, 1639 Central Calendar, 10:00

Qua-Toyne Principality, Capital / Osean Embassy

After the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Qua-Toyne Principality, the morning of
Hughes, the diplomat who was to remain there as a representative of Osea, was suddenly
changed by the report of an official who came to see him. Apparently, the diplomatic
representative of Qua-Toyne had requested an unannounced meeting with him, saying that he
had urgent business. Feeling a strange premonition, Hughes decided to accept the visit.

“Thank you for waiting.”

When Hughes opened the door to the reception room, he was met by a young man named Yagou,
an employee of the Foreign Ministry.

“I apologize for the suddenness of this visit, Mr. Ambassador. Something has come up that I
must inform you of immediately.”
“What is it?”

It seemed that he was not wrong in saying that he had a bad feeling about the situation. And it
was solidified by the words that came out of Yagou’s mouth.

“…I believe you already know that there is a kingdom of Louria to the west of our country. As a
result of careful examination of the information we have received from numerous sources, it is
almost certain that the Louria Kingdom will invade our country.”
“Oh. War, huh?”

Hughes had already heard from his home country that there was a high possibility that the Louria
Kingdom would invade Qua-Toyne, if only for information.

“Yes. A large group of Lourian troops is already gathering on the west side of Gim, a town
located near the 20 km border. If there is a war with Louria, the…”

Yagou stammered. Hughes had also heard that Louria was likely to go to war with the aim of
eradicating demi-humans. If they go to war and lose, it goes without saying that the demi-human
inhabitants of this country will suffer terribly. Yagou is a human being, not a demi-human, but
he probably has a certain number of demi-humans among his acquaintances and friends.
Thinking about them, Yagou might be filled with a sense of helplessness. What’s more, the only
countries with which Osea has diplomatic relations at the moment are Qua-Toyne and Quila, and
if both of them lose the war, there will be no other countries with which Osea has diplomatic
relations, and the information they can obtain about this world will be cut off, and they will be
completely isolated. This must be avoided at all costs.

“…I understand. I will report this matter to my home country immediately. Perhaps, but I believe
our country will send reinforcements.”
“Thank you very much, sir. I hope you will give me a good answer.”

March 28, 1639 Central Calendar, 19:00

Osean Federation, Capital Oured / Bright Hill, Presidential Palace of Osea
At Bright Hill, the President, the Vice President, the Minister of Defense, the Ministers of
Foreign Affairs, Trade, Science and Technology, and the Interior have gathered. The President
spoke plainly.

“Now, gentlemen… war is about to begin. A few days ago, I received a call from Osean
Ambassador of Qua-Toyne. There is a definite possibility that the Louria Kingdom will invade
the neighboring Qua-Toyne Principality.”

The President gestured to his secretary and had her spread out a map of the Rodenius Continent
on the table.

“Qua-Toyne has a total force of about 50.000. In contrast, Louria… has at least 400.000 men
according to Qua-Toyne.”

The difference in strength between Qua-Toyne and Louria that is almost eight times caused a lot
of buzz among the ministers who had not heard about the Louria Kingdom. It was an
overwhelming difference in strength.

“If Qua-Toyne and Louria go to war, the Qua-Toyne will be defeated. If the Quila Kingdom is
also defeated, we will be completely isolated in this world as we have no other country with
which to establish diplomatic relations.”

The President turned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“We have already instructed the Foreign Ministry to contact Louria and try to find a peaceful
solution through diplomacy, but we are unable to even come to the negotiating table with Louria
in the first place.”

The President continued.

“So, I’m going to send the Osean Defense Forces from our country. I haven’t gotten permission
from Congress yet, but I’m sure it will pass. So I have a few questions for you today.”

The President turned then turned to the Minister of Defense.

“Minister of Defense, how many sorties can the military send out?”
“There are only a few troops that can be sent out of the country due to the damage caused by the
last Lighthouse War, but… I believe that the air force can send out a good number.” The
Minister of Defense Said, remembering what he had told the President.
“For example, a small number of LRSSG from the OADF should be able to inflict heavy damage
on the enemy.”
“Hoo, LRSSG? The Three Strikes?”
“Yes. The Three Strikes’ unit.”

The official name of the unit, commonly called the LRSSG, is the Long-Range Strategic Strike
Group.

The LRSSG is a task force that uses a small number of fighters to poke holes in the enemy air
defense system, fly in from far away from the target point with repeated aerial refueling, and
launch a blitzkrieg surprise attack on the target point. Sinc the end of the Lighthouse War, it no
longer has any significance, but it still exists today as a special unit of the OADF.

In particular, the ace pilot who belong to the unit, known as the ‘Three Strikes,’ is famous for
their horrific results in the Lighthouse War. Above all, the LRSSG played a key role in ending
the Lighthouse War.

“Then there is the strategic bombing force with its B-52s and other large bombers, and the other
fighter squadrons should have no problem using the Qua-Toyne’s makeshift airstrip.”

In order to compete with the neighboring Principality of Belka, which is also known as an air
force powerhouse, the OADF had to possess a powerful force. This is why it has a high
percentage of newer fighters and a large number of bombers.

Although it had suffered considerable losses in the Lighthouse War, the OADF still had enough
strength left now that most of the troops stationed overseas had returned to the country.

“The rest is the Army, but… it won’t be ready in time for the start of the war. The Navy suffered
heavy losses in the last war, so there’s not much of a fleet that can be sent out… Oh, I’m sure the
Third Fleet can be deployed.”

The damage suffered by the Osean navy in the last Lighthouse War was particularly large among
the land, sea, and air forces. Immediately after the start of the war, the Erusean surprise attack
damaged all aircraft carriers under construction and at anchor, and the navy continued to take
losses in the subsequent battles with the Eruseans.

As a result, the number of naval ships left in the OMDF after the Lighthouse War was greatly
reduced, and now the navy is building new carriers and repairing ships that survived the war,
such as Vulture and Andersen, in order to rebuild the carrier force.

“I know it’s not bad, but, uh, can you win with just air and sea?”
“I’m not sure how you define victory, but if you mean inflicting substantial damage on the
enemy, then yes.”

The Minister of Defense quickly replied.

“As long as we can only provide air and naval forces, I think we can force the Lourian army to
bleed out with air strikes and then force the Lourian leaders to talk.”
“Not bad. But be prepared to dispatch an army force in case of emergency. You never know
what might happen.”

After some more discussion, it was decided that right after the Lourian army crossed the border,
Osea would declare war on Louria, and the OADF would bomb it and then attack the Lourian
fleet approaching from the ocean.

At a later date, the Congress authorized the deployment of the Osean military, and the ODF was
dispatched to the Qua-Toyne Principality.

Qua-Toyne Principality, Maihark / Makeshift Osean Military Airfield

After concluding diplomatic relations with Osea, Qua-Toyne exported information about this
world to Osea, and in return, Osea took on the task of developing the country’s infrastructure and
transportation network. As a part of this project, highways were constructed in various parts of
the country, but on that day, one of the straight roads in the suburbs of Maihark was suddenly
blocked by the knights of Qua-Toyne.

“What’s going on?”

“The knights blocked the road. The wagons can’t get through.”
“…Hm? Hey, is that iron dragon flying over there coming towards us?”

A group of onlookers gathered to see what was going on, but soon after, a CH-47 Chinook
transport helicopter of the Osean Marine Corps landed, and the Osean soldier who had come
down from the plane were calling out something on their radios. Eventually, eight F-15C Eagle
fighter jets belonging to the OADF arrived at the blocked straightaway.

“It’s the Osean iron dragons!”

“It looks a little different from the ones that came to Maihark last time…”
“And it’s coming right at us. It’s going to land on this road!”
The Eagles aimed at the straight road as a runway and landed on the road one after another under
the control of the ground controller who got off the helicopter. Also coming from behind them
were F-16C fighters and A-10C Thunderbolt II attack planes, also from the OADF.

Soon, larger B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers and E-767 early warning & control planes
arrived one after the other, their landing gears creaking as they descended to the ground. After
landing, the planes used the parking lot on the shoulder as a tarmac and rested their wings on the
ground.

“The war is about to begin…”

“Yeah… but I’m sure Osea will take care of it…”

The onlookers muttered to themselves as they watched the Osean aircraft landed one by one.

Osea had designed this straightaway to be used as a runway that could withstand the take-off and
landing of large jets in case of emergency, and it was now being used as a runway for the Osean
military frontline airfield. The Third Fleet of the OADF was approaching the Louria Kingdom
from the sea, and the Third Fleet intended to use this frontline base to face the Lourian army
from the land.

And the eight F-15C Eagles that landed first had “WW” tailcodes on their vertical tails, and one
of them had three claw marks painted in white lines, as if scratched by a beast.

Notes
- CH-47 Chinook
A large transport helicopter operated by the OADF and the Osean Marines. It is a
tandem-rotor type (two huge propellers on the front and back of the aircraft) and can
transport up to 55 personnel or nearly 10 tons of goods. It has been used for a long time
by the Osean military for transporting supplies and personnel, but the Osean Marines in
particular use it for aerial maneuvering operations and aerial assault operations, and also
operate it on board aircraft carriers. It is equivalent to the CH-47 in the real world.
- E-767
The E-767 is an early warning and control aircraft (AWACS) developed by North Point
using Osea’s technology. The E-767 is a B-767 airliner with a huge radar radome on its
back. It has a high-performance radar that can see over a radius of several hundred
kilometers, high communication processing capability, and control capability. Because of
its high performance, it has been adopted by the air forces of various countries and is
used worldwide. Some countries use it as an electronic warfare aircraft, and the Leasath
Air Force used it as an anti-submarine patrol aircraft with anti-submarine armament and
equipment on a used E-767. It is the equivalent of the E-767 in the real world, but with
some differences, such as it cannot carry ECM pods or anti-submarine weapons.

CHAPTER 7: Outbreak of War

April 11, 1639 Central Calendar, 18:30

Near the Louria-Qua-Toyne border, the Lourian Eastern Conquest Army main camp

On the Lourian side of the border, 400.000 Lourian soldiers and 150 wyverns were gathered at
the main camp of the vanguard of the Eastern Conquest Army. The Qua-Toyne Principality had
sent out numerous manacom transmissions asking for troops to be withdrawn from the border,
but the Lourian army had ignored them all. The decision to go to war has already been made.

“We will seize Gim tomorrow.”

General Pandour declared in front of his men who have been training with him for years. The
vanguard he commanded consisted of 20.000 infantry, 5.000 heavy infantry, 2.000 cavalry,
1.500 engineers, 1.000 light infantry, 350 mages, and 150 dragon knights, for a total of 30.000.

Although the infantry outnumbered the dragon knights, the wyvern cavalry were the champions
of the sky, capable of stopping 10.000 infantry with 10 wyverns, and the fact that there were 150
of them was reassuring. Pandour looked at his men with a faint smile on his face. A wyvern is an
expensive weapon, and with the power of the Louria Kingdom, even if you could get all of them
from all over the country, you would barely be able to get 200 of them.

But this time, 500 wyverns were prepared for the battle against the Qua-Toyne Principality.
Rumor has it that the Parpaldia Empire, a powerful nation in the Third Civilization Area, has
provided support in the form of military supplies, but he’s not sure if this is actually the case. In
any case, Pandour is more than happy to have 150 wyverns at his disposal.

“What shall we do with the spoils of war from Gim?”

Adem, the second-in-command, spoke to him. He was a famous knight of Louria, but he was
also known as a ruthless sadist. He is said to have committed atrocities in the occupied territories
when Louria was at war with other small countries to expand its territory.

“I’ll leave you in charge, Adem.”

“Understood, hehehe.”
Adem bowed to the general, turned around, and immediately went back to his men. Adem
eventually stopped his men in the tent.

“Tell all men in the vanguard, ‘You may do as you please, for we do not condemn looting in
Gim.’ Oh, and torture the women, but dispose of them all when you’re done with them. Not a
single one of them will make out of town alive, is that clear?”
“Sir!”

When the messenger heard the message from Adem, he immediately tried to leave the tent.

“No… wait a minute.”

However, Adem, who seems to have thought of something, stopped the messenger, shows a
thoughtful expression for a moment, and then immediately tuns to the messenger with a grimace.

“I see… let’s not kill them all… Let 100 of them live and let them go. Let the fear be
contagious.”
“Yes…”
“And… if there are any family members of enemy knights in Gim, dispose of them as brutally as
possible. For example, throw them in a demon cage… hehehe!”
“Y-yes, sir!”

This is a horrible order, this Adem’s mind is not human. With that in mind, the messenger ran
out of the tent to escape and faithfully passed the order to the other soldiers. In the end, the order
was not carried out.

The next day, the Lourian army began its invasion of Qua-Toyne.

April 12, 1639 Central Calendar, 07:30

Qua-Toyne Principality, Maihark / Makeshift Osean Military Airfield

It was 7:30 a.m., just as the sun was beginning to rise, when an unnamed reconnaissance plane
flying near the border caught sight of the Lourian army crossing the border. In response, the
federal government of Osea declared war on Louria through the intermediary of the Qua-Toyne
Principality. However, Louria, who had judged that Osea was not a serious threat, did not pay
any attention to it. But Osea still took action to strike Louria, and an emergency sortie order was
issued to the frontline airfield of the OADF in the Qua-Toyne Principality.
“Scramble, scramble. We’ve confirmed that the Lourian forces are moving across the border.
All aircraft participating in the offensive against the Lourian army, take off immediately.”

An announcement was made throughout the airfield, and the pilots and mechanics of the OADF
came out of the tent that had been turned into a temporary waiting room one after another. One
of them was a pilot heading for an F-15C Eagle fighter, with three claw marks painted on its
vertical tail. Behind him is a woman in a tank top, probably a mechanic, followed by other
mechanics.

The pilot ran up the ladder on the fuselage and settled into his seat. The woman also climbed up
and directly connected the pilot’s G-suit to the fuselage and checked his seatbelt. The woman
takes the helmet from another mechanic under the aircraft and hands it to the pilot, who puts it
on and connects the oxygen mask, then gave a thumbs-up, to which the woman gave a thumbs-
down.

As the woman descended the ladder, the mechanic removed the ladder from the aircraft, the
flight instructor gave the signal to start the engine, and the pilot pressed the starter switch. The
auxiliary power unit activates, and a high-pitched whine echoes through the air.

“Go ahead, dumbass.”

The woman—mechanic Avril Mead—unhooked the wheel stops of the F-15C and watched the
pilot salute from the canopy from the Eagle with Three Strikes as it began to move toward the
runway. Avril looked around and saw that not only the other F-15Cs, but also the F-16C fighters
and A-10C Thunderbolt II attackers on the tarmac had started moving to the runway. The same
goes for the larger aircraft such as the B-52 Stratofortress bombers and E-767 early warning
planes. At the head of the group, the Eagle with Three Strikes was about to take off from the
runway ahead of the others.

“Strider 1, you are cleared for takeoff.”

And so Trigger, the ace pilot of the Lighthouse War, took to the skies, piloting a fighter with
claw marks called Strider 1.

The Osean military strategy was clear and simple. First, the fighters would shoot down the
enemy wyverns in the sky above the Lourian positions, seize control of the airspace, and then the
bombers and attackers would drop a large number of bombs and missiles on the Lourian forces
to destroy them. For this reason, the eight F-15Cs in the lead formation, including Trigger’s,
were loaded with a large number of AIM-9L Sidewinder short-range missiles (AAM) and AIM-
120C AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles (4AAM).
“Hey Trigger, I heard the enemy has triple digits. Let’s play a game after a while to see which
one of us can get more scores.”

With the sheer number of enemies, the F-15Cs that was responsible for securing airspace – the
LRSSG – was even trying to compete to see how many of them they could shoot down. This was
not the first time for them to fight against a large number of enemies, as they had experienced
many battles against unmanned aircraft during the Lighthouse War.

This time, however, the enemy were wyverns, which was much slower and less maneuverable
than the drones of the Lighthouse War. It is incomparable to the Erusean drones, which
repeatedly performed frighteningly high maneuvers by incorporating the flight data of that
‘Mister X’.

In the end, the formation approached the Qua-Toyne-Louria border where the Lourian army was
closing in. The radar information sent from the E-767 AWACS aircraft deployed behind them
told them that they had detected a large formation of wyverns totaling 150.

“This is AWACS Long Caster. There are many of them, but they’re just like big, slow birds. Aim
calmly. We’re going to turn those birds into roast chicken with our missiles.”

After the AWACS radioed, countless target markers appeared on the HUDs of each aircraft,
telling them that they had locked on to the enemy wyverns.

—There are too many.

There were so many that the entire HUD was completely covered with yellow squares indicating
enemy wyverns. The Eagle pilots switched their weapons on the cockpit’s touch screen display
and selected the medium-range air-to-air missiles. Once they had locked on to the enemy swarm,
they put their finger on the trigger of the control stick.

“Strider 1, engaging. Fox Three.”

Eight F-15C Eagles in the blue sky unleashed dozens of AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range
AAMs into the air. Dozens of plumes of smoke filled the sky, a beautiful sight, but one that
would bring certain death to their opponents.

April 12, 1639 Central Continent, 08:00

Qua-Toyne-Louria Border, Lourian Army
At long last, 30.000 vanguard troops of the Lourian army began their march toward the Qua-
Toyne Principality, and set out to capture Gim, a city of 100.000 people near the border. As the
Lourian soldiers marched in formation, 75 wyverns of the first strike force preceded them from
the sky.

“It’s strange, there’s no sign of the demi-humans anywhere…”

Adem, who was moving on horseback with Pandour, muttered quietly that no one could heard
about the strange things he felt during the match. Even though it was almost at the border, there
was no sign of any action on Qua-Toyne’s part.

‘Something is wrong… is this a trap? Should we turn back?’

Adem thought in his mind. He didn’t know that the Qua-Toynese knights had already withdrawn
from Gim, and that the inhabitants of Gim had evacuated with the support of the Osean military.
And they didn’t know that they were being held at the throat with a blade.

Shortly after, the foremost of the 75 wyverns flying in the sky suddenly exploded.

Notes
- F-15C Eagle
The F-15C Eagle is a large air superiority fighter developed by Osea to compete with
Yuktobania’s Su-27 fighter. It boasts high performance in terms of speed,
maneuverability, and survivability due to the combination of an airframe designed with
combat in mind and two powerful turbofan engines. Although it has very high combat
capability, it is particularly famous for the story of a mercenary ace pilot who lost one of
his wings during combat in an F-15, but returned safely to complete his mission and was
later called the ‘Solo Wing Pixy’. For a long time after its development, it was
undefeated in air battles, and is called the ‘humanity’s strongest fighter’. However, its
disadvantages are that it is too expensive and its stealth is low. The equivalent of the F-
15C in the real world.

CHAPTER 8: Battle of the Border

Over the Qua-Toyne-Louria border

The Dragon Knight Commander Aldebaran, who commanded the 75 Dragon Knights of the First
Wyvern Strike Force, the vanguard of the Lourian Eastern Conquest Army, was puzzled. Their
mission is to secure control of the airspace over Gim, the border city of Qua-Toyne, and to
provide close air support to friendly forces.

Behind them, the 75 wyverns of the second strike force had also arrived, bringing the total
number of wyverns to 150, far outnumbering the total number of wyverns in the Qua-Toyne’s
army. However, despite the fact that they had already crossed the border, there were no Qua-
Toyne wyverns charging forward.

“There were no enemy wyverns…?”

Just as Aldebaran expressed his doubts, tragedy struck the wyvern unit. Suddenly, the 12 allied
wyverns in the vanguard flying in front of the squad exploded.

“……Huh?”

The wyvern’s body was crushed into a pulp so small that even the rider was reduced to nothing.
It sprinkled vermillion-red flesh and blood, and scattered pieces of flesh around him.

“W-what the hell!?”

The exploding wyverns probably didn’t even know what had happened to them. In an instant,
they were dead, and their corpses slowly fell to the ground, leaving their bodies to gravity.

“What the hell was that!?”

“The front row was wiped out in an instant!”
“An attack! Where did it come from!?”

The frantic voices of his allies echoed in the manacom. In the next moment, Aldebaran witnessed
arrows of light flying from the front at breakneck speed, hitting 16 allied wyverns.

The wyverns were all enveloped in the explosion and immediately turned into black flowers
blooming in the sky. In addition to Aldebaran, several other dragon knights also witnessed it
ramming into the wyverns, but their thoughts were all the same.

—What the hell was that?

—What happened just now?
—What just happened?

It was a natural reaction. They had never seen a missile before, and they would never in their
lives have the chance to know what a missile was.
“Enemy attack! All riders, break off, take evasive maneuvers!”

Aldebaran saw the light arrow as a wyvern’s guided flaming projectile and determined that the
enemy wyvern had attacked from somewhere with a guided fireball. At that moment, Adebaran
saw the light arrows approaching from the front and immediately began to dive for evasive
maneuvers. However, the arrow of light closed the distance at an unbelievable speed, changed
direction as if it had a will, and rushed towards Aldebaran.

“Wha—the fireball changed direction!? Impossible—AAH!!”

Immediately after Aldebaran shouted, he and his wyvern were swallowed by the explosion and
scattered into the sky. In the meantime, the dragon knight and the wyverns are crushed in the sky
by the arrows of light that fly one after another.

“Squadron leader, give the order! Where’s the commander!?”

“Shit, shit, shit!”
“H-hey! What the hell was that!?”

When the wyverns of the first strike force were down to 43 riders, the Dragon Knight spotted
eight of them approaching from the front. It was the eight F-15C Eagles from the Osean LRSSG,
but there was no way that the Lourian Dragon Knights and the others could have known who
they were, as they were literally from another world.

“What is this, gyaah—”

“Stop it!! Help me!!”
“Everyone run!! We-we can’t win this—”
“No way… no way!!”
“Damn monsters!! Damn devils!!”

The eight fast-approaching Eagles went from long-range missile attacks to dogfighting, which
added further confusion in the manacoms.

The wyvern, which can only fire slow-guided fireballs, is faced with a variety of high-
performance armaments, including 20 mm Vulcan cannons, short-range multipurpose missiles,
and medium-range air-to-air missiles, and there is no way it can defeat the subsonic, highly
maneuverable F-15C.

The Lourian army, which was supposed to have an overwhelming numerical advantage, was
annihilated in the blink of an eye. One by one, the dragon knights riding them scattered into the
sky, along with their wyvern partners who had shared their pain and suffering with them. The
Eagles were like gods of death.
“Partner! What’s wrong with you, buddy!?”
“Dammit! Dropping down!”
“That one with three-striped thing is especially nasty!”

One of them, the Eagle with three claw marks on its vertical tail, repeatedly performs unorthodox
hyper maneuvers that the original Eagle could not perform due to the pilot’s own qualities and
the customization of the aircraft. The Eagle, with its out-of-the-ordinary super maneuvers, had
shot down a particularly large number of wyverns in a short period of time, but in this chaos, all
eight of them were demons to the Lourian Dragon Knight.

“I’m trapped! Help me!!”

The last of the first strike force was shot down by a clawed Eagle. The second strike force of 75
Lourian Dragon Knights arrived later, but they too were destroyed by eight planes without being
able to fight properly, and about two minutes later, there was not a single wyvern flying in the
sky.

Near the same border

After destroying the wyverns with missile attacks and dogfights, the eight F-15C Eagles of the
LRSSG had temporarily turned back to the rear, their mission complete. They had already
consumed a large number of ammunitions, and the medium-range AAM special weapons had
zero ammunitions remaining.

“This is the AWACS Long Caster, we have confirmed the total destruction of the enemy air
force! Good. All wyverns are now fried chicken. Well done.”

The AWACS Long Caster, deployed to the rear, reports to the LRSSG that are leaving the
battlefield.

“I thought you said roast chicken.”

“I’m happy to eat both.”
“Whatever you say, man.”

As Count, a member of the unit, deadpanned to Long Caster, they received a radio transmission
from another unit, an OADF bomber unit consisting of B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers.
“This is the 1816th Bomber Squadron, Gray Moth, have you completed your sweep over enemy
territory?”
“AWACS Long Caster to Gray Moth, perfect. The destruction of the enemy wyverns is complete,
but we’re going to take a break now. Please eat our leftovers instead.”
“Understood, Long Caster. We will now begin our attack on the enemy ground forces.”

Eventually, the LRSSG Eagles and the Stratofortress of the Bomber Squadron passed each other.
The B-52H, so large that they were derided as BUFF—Big Ugly Fat Fellow, was about to arrive
over the Lourian forces in a few dozen seconds.

Near the border/on the ground

“T-the wyverns!!”

Adem was shocked to see an unprecedented air battle – or rather, a one-sided slaughter –
unfolding in the sky. There were 150 wyverns, far more than the total number of wyverns owned
by Qua-Toyne.

They were supposed to dominate the battlefield, but they were annihilated in the blink of an eye
by just eight of them. Not only Adem, but also the Lourian soldiers on the march and even the
commander, Pandour, were astonished.

“What!?”

But the tragedy was only the beginning.

“What is that huge iron dragons!?”

At that moment, the biggest flying dragon Adem had ever seen – the B-52 Stratofortress strategic
bomber of the OADF – formed a formation and was rapidly approaching Adem and the others.

“Mages, anti-air magic charges! Shot down those iron dragons!”

Since the wyvern is lost, Adem ordered the mages belonging to the vanguard. The mages begin
to fire the anti-aircraft magic ‘Fire Ball’ into the air, but it is obvious that they do not have
enough altitude to reach the target.

And when the bomber reached directly above Adem and the others, it opened the weapon bay in
its belly and dropped a large number of bombs on the Lourian army.
“Did it drop something? Is that—”

Immediately after that, a large number of fuel vaporization bombs – FAEBs – were dropped
from the B-52s, and the scorching fires they ignited burned the Lourian army in an instant.

The area of several hundred meters from the point of impact was enveloped in a blast of high
temperature of 3.000 degrees Celcius, and the high temperature that melted even steel burned
away all people and horses, reducing them to ashes.

In addition, most of the oxygen at the point of impact was instantly burned off, and even if
anyone survived the blast, the gas containing a large amount of carbon monoxide flowed into
their oxygen-deprived lungs, and they suffocated to death from lack of oxygen, carbon monoxide
poisoning, and breathing difficulties.

In this FAEB attack, General Pandour and Lieutenant General Adem passed away along with
30.000 other Lourian soldiers under their command.

“The enemy invasion force is gone!”

“Understood. Continue to conduct airstrikes on the enemy’s main camp and work to clean up the
remaining enemy.”

Two minutes later, the B-52s of the Osean air force conducted FAEB airstrikes on the main
camp of the Lourian Eastern Conquest Army, which had 400.000 Lourian soldiers.

After destroying it, an air force consisting of A-10C Thunderbolt IIs and F-16C fighters loaded
with anti-surface armament and the LRSSG that had been refueled carried out a sweep of the
remaining enemy. If they tried to counterattack with magic, bombs would rain down on them,
and if they tried to escape on horseback, 30 mm Avengers would open fire.

After 15 minutes of battle, the 400.000 soldiers of the Lourian army were completely wiped out,
and the Louria Kingdom’s plan to invade Qua-Toyne Principality suddenly stumbled.

Notes
- B-52H Stratofortress
Eight-engine strategic bomber of the OADF, one of the most popular bombers. It was
developed as a nuclear bomber and cruise missile launcher platform during the Cold War
with Yuktobania, and acquired a payload of nearly 30 tons to carry nuclear bombs and
cruise missiles. It was nicknamed the ‘bird of death’ because it could carry a large
number of conventional bombs and rain them down on the enemy when carpet bombing.
It also has an extremely long range, almost limitless if it is refueled in the air. The B-52H
was made in Osea, but after the end of the Cold War, it was exported to Yuktobania, and
then to Erusea and the Anean Continent countries, and is now owned by air forces all
over the world. It is the equivalent of the B-52H in the real world.

CHAPTER 9: Threat from the Sea

April 13, 1639 Central Calendar, 17:30

Qua-Toyne Principality, Port of Maihark

Breweye, Chief of Operations for the Principality’s Second Fleet, thought he was dreaming. He
couldn’t believe what he was seeing before him. He was going to be dispatched as an
observation officer to the Third Fleet of the Osean navy, which was scheduled to intercept a fleet
of 4.400 Lourian warships that were expected to sail from the sea towards Maihark.

Breweye was told that only six ships, including auxiliary ships, would be dispatched from the
Third Fleet of the OMDF, and he doubted that they would be willing to take on the 4.400-ship
Lourian fleet. However, when Breweye saw the Osean fleet arriving at Maihark, he realized that
he had been wrong.

“It’s… it’s so big…!!”

The Osean ships anchored off the coast of Maihark were all incredibly large, bigger than
anything he had ever seen in his life. During the contact with Osea, Breweye had heard about the
arrival of a 300-meter class colossal ship in Maihark, but Breweye was not in Maihark at the
time and thought it was an exaggerated story.

However, even though they were anchored far off shore, the Osean ship was incredibly large,
and he had to realize that it was true.

Eventually, a strange flying object that looked as if it had a windmill on its head flew in from one
of the larger ships. Although they had been informed in advance that they would be picked up,
Breweye was speechless when he actually saw the only way to fly besides the wyvern.

“We are the Basilisk Team of the Osean Marines! We’re here to welcome one of the observer
officers of the Qua-Toyne Principality!”
When the object landed in the plaza, the door next to the body opened and a man came down
from inside. Breweye shouted back at it in a loud voice.

“I’m the Chief of Operations for the Second Fleet of the Qua-Toyne Principality, Breweye!”
“You may have been informed in advance, but are you ready to board?”
“Yes, thank you very much!”

Forced to speak in a loud voice by the wind generated by the object, Breweye carried his luggage
and boarded the HH-9B helicopter of the Osean Marine Corps. With a strange floating sensation,
the HH-9B begins its flight. After a few minutes, they approached the carrier anchored offshore,
and were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the ship, which was incomparable to what they had
seen from a distance.

‘What the heck is this size…!?’

The size of the ship was beyond Breweye’s comprehension, and he had no idea how it had been
built.

The Admiral Andersen is a carrier of the OMDF, which was stranded on the Usean Continent at
the end of the Lighthouse War two years ago, but was repaired after running aground and is now
part of the Osean navy’s carrier force.

Aircraft carrier Admiral Andersen

Specifications
Displacement : 101.000 tons
Length : 333 m
Overall width : 77 m
Armament :
- 2 close-range SAM launchers
- 2 SeaRAM point defense systems
- 2 20 mm Phalanx CIWS
- 4 catapults
Aircraft carried : 70

The carrier Andersen was protected from all sides by Aegis ships, and behind them was a large
supply ship carrying 16.000 tons of ammunition and fuel. The fleet formation was as follows:
- Hubert II-class aircraft carrier Admiral Andersen
- Ticonderoga-class cruiser Excalibur
- Arleigh Burke-class destroyers Eastern Cattle, Jack Snipe, and Wimbrel
- Towada-class supply ship Blue Throat
As Breweye stepped out onto the deck of the ship, which was large enough for a jousting match,
with its F/A-18Fs, F-14Ds, Rafale Ms, and F-35Cs, he began to feel rather sorry for the Lourian
forces that had to fight against such a huge ship. After landing on the deck of the aircraft carrier
Andersen, Breweye walked around the ship and entered the bridge, guided by the crew. Once on
the bridge, Breweye meets the captain of the Andersen and Breweye salutes him.

“I am Breweye, an observer officer of the Qua-Toyne Principality. Thank you for your support.”
“Nice to meet you. I am Liam, the captain of this ship, and I’d like to explain to you what we’re
going to do.”

Captain Liam began to explain to Breweye.

“First of all, we already know the location of the Lourian fleet. They are 1.500 kilometers west
of our current position, well, we just left port, but we are currently approaching at a speed of
about 5 knots. We, the Third Fleet, will set sail at midnight and make a preemptive attack on the
Lourian fleet in the early morning of the day after tomorrow. After that, our fleet will move off
the coast of the Lourian capital, but until then, please make yourself at home on board.”

As expected, they were going to take on the large fleet of 4.400 ships by themselves without the
help of the Qua-Toyne Navy. The ship was certainly large enough to hold a large number of
cutters. There are no ballistae or wooden shields to protect against fire arrows, but the ship seems
to be made of iron, and even Breweye, who had just arrived, thought that this ship would never
sink.

Next day, 07:30

Outskirts of Maihark/Osean Air Force Base

“We will now begin the briefing. A large fleet of wooden sailing ships of the Louria Kingdom
was detected by the AWACS that was flying on patrol in the northern ocean of the Rodenius
Continent. This large fleet is currently approaching the port of Maihark in the Qua-Toyne
Principality. It is presumed that the enemy’s objective is to land at Maihark Port and take control
of the city. Our Navy’s Third Fleet is scheduled to engage them, and in order to prevent damage
to Maihark by the landing force, your squadron should eliminate the enemy in cooperation with
our allied fleet. I wish you good luck. That is all.”

In the tent that was being used as a temporary briefing room at the Osean frontline airfield in
Maihark, the members of the Osean LRSSG were being briefed. The LRSSG, which participated
in the air battle near Gim, was scheduled to participate in the interception of the large fleet of
ships from the Louria Kingdom, and they were on their way now. As soon as the briefing was
over, the LRSSG members jumped out of their tents and headed for their respective aircraft.

Trigger, who had shot down a large number of enemy wyverns yesterday, was also heading for
his own plane, but just as he was about to board, he was stopped by Avril, who was doing
maintenance on his plane.

“Hey, are you sure you want to ride this thing?”

Avril is so skilled at repairing and even remodeling scrap aircraft that she is known as the ‘Scrap
Queen’ when it comes to maintenance.

She can maintain the aircraft to a higher level of perfection, but it wasn’t because of the poor
maintenance of the aircraft that she stopped Trigger from boarding the plane. It was the type of
the aircraft that Trigger was about to board that was the problem. Trigger nodded his head to
Avril’s question.

“When did you become an attacker pilot, dumbass?”

What Trigger is flying is clearly not a fighter plane, but an A-10C Thunderbolt II – an all-out
ground attack aircraft. Moreover, it carries fuel-air-explosive bombs (FAEBs) under its wings,
and is clearly not an aircraft that a fighter pilot should be flying.

It’s true that even among the LRSSG troops, Trigger has often switched planes from the F-15C
to the F-15J, F-22, Typhoon, and MiG. And since this mission is an anti-ship mission (although
the enemy is a wooden sailing ship), attack planes are perfect, but why would a fighter pilot need
to fly an attack plane.

“…Well, whatever. Go on a rampage, dumbass.”

However, Trigger often did this kind of absurd things during the Lighthouse War, and even
though she was disgusted, Avril eventually allowed Trigger to board the aircraft. At least the
Thunderbolt II was in better than perfect condition, thanks to the skills of the Scrap Queen.

A short time later, seven F-15C Eagle fighters and one A-10C Thunderbolt II attack plane soared
into the sky.

Same day, 07:45

The Third Fleet of the OMDF, which had departed from Maihark sometime in the middle of the
night on the 13th, was cruising at 20 knots through the ocean towards the Lourian fleet.
Breweye, the observer officer of the Qua-Toyne Principality, was out on the deck of the aircraft
carrier Andersen.

‘I thought it was big, but I didn’t realize it was also fast… Isn’t it the maximum war speed of our
sailing ships, or maybe even faster than a cavalry horse?’

The fact that a hunk of iron weighing nearly 100.000 tons could sail at 20 knots was no small
shock to Breweye. This would allow him to move around and strike unilaterally while avoiding
enemy attacks, and more importantly, he could get to the battlefield quickly and leave without
being pursued by the enemy.

Breweye was wondering how to tell this to the higher-ups, but before he could get an answer, the
enemy showed up. One after another, F/A-18Fs and F-35Cs took off from the flight deck, and
soon the Lourian fleet appeared over the horizon.

The naval battle that would later be known as the ‘Great Naval Battle of Rodenius’ was about to
begin.

Notes
- Aircraft carrier Admiral Andersen
One of the Hubert II-class aircraft carriers belonging to the Third Fleet of the Osean
Maritime Defense Force. The ship is named after the captain of the aircraft carrier
Kestrel, Captain Nicholas A. Andersen, who served in the Circum-Pacific War. During
the Lighthouse War, Andersen ran aground while on a mission to transport aircraft to a
friendly base, and was used as an offshore air base before the war ended. After the
Lighthouse War, Andersen was one of the few remaining Osean aircraft carriers in the
hands of the OMDF, so she underwent restoration work and returned to service. She is
one of the largest aircraft carriers in the Osea today, so she has always been at the
forefront of the Osean navy.
- Ticonderoga-class cruiser
The main Aegis ship of the OMDF. The Ticonderoga-class cruiser was developed as an
anti-aircraft ship to prevent the Belkan Air Force, known for its strength, from attacking
allied fleets by air, and to protect the fleet from missile saturation attacks from the
Yuktobanian Navy’s ships, which emphasize surface combat. The first ship was
commissioned just before the start of the Belkan War, and many more of the same type
have been built and are in service to this day, with improvements made since then. The
high-performance radar and information processing capabilities of the Aegis system, the
fleet’s air defense system, enables the ship to instantly assess more than 100 fighter
planes and anti-ship missiles at the same time, and intercept them in order of threat.
Although it was unable to participate in the Belkan War, ships of the same type exported
to Erusean and Usean countries was deployed in the Continental War, demonstrating the
high air defense capability of the Aegis system. The Oseans also used them in the
Circum-Pacific War and the subsequent Lighthouse War, and while most of the same
type of ships were sunk, they achieved a great deal in air defense combat. It is equivalent
to the Ticonderoga-class cruiser in real life.
- Towada-class supply ship
A fleet supply ship made by North Point. The OMDF purchased it from North point and
is operating it. It is similar to the real world’s Towada-class supply ship.

CHAPTER 10: Great Battle off Rodenius – Part 1

April 14, 1639 Central Calendar

Louria Kingdom/Northern Waters

There was a large fleet of ships acting in a dense formation. The 4.400 ships of the Lourian
navy’s Eastern Conquest Fleet were leisurely sailing forward across the ocean towards Maihark,
the economic city of Qua-Toyne Principality.

“It’s a spectacular sight. It’s really beautiful.” The fleet commander, Admiral Sharkun, muttered
in satisfaction as he looked at the fleet in the tower of the fleet’s flagship. A fleet of sailing ships,
their sails filled with the breeze of the tide, pushed forward across the ocean.

There were a whopping 4.400 of them, carrying 140.000 sailors as they headed for Qua-Toyne.
As far as the eye could see, they were all ships. As the saying goes, a ship is worth seven times
as much as the sea is worth three.

After six years of preparation and military assistance from the powerful Parpaldia Empire, a
large fleet had finally been completed. The countries of the Rodenius Continent would have no
way of opposing this fleet. No, perhaps the Parpaldia Empire could be subdued. This is the
largest and strongest fleet on this continent, and he has a feeling that it will be able to defeat the
enemies without any trouble.

“…No, wait, I thought Parpaldia had gunboats…”

He used reason to quench the flames of ambition that had momentarily appeared. Challenging
the powerful nations of the Third Civilization is risky for Louria now. To distract himself, he
looks out at the sea in front of him. Just then, something enters his field of vision.
“Hmm? …Something’s flying?”

Far in the sky, too far away to be seen as anything more than a dot, there are multiple things
flying. Qua-Toyne’s wyverns clearly don’t have enough range, and the Lourian military wyverns
are not in the vicinity.

—If so, what could it be?

It passed over the fleet at a frighteningly high speed. It was shaped like an arrowhead, painted
gray, and spitting flames from behind, and just before it passed, a roaring sound reached them.

“It’s too fast!!”

“What the hell was that!?”

What they saw was a fighter squadron consisting of F-35Cs, F/A-18Fs, and Rafale Ms of the 7th
Carrier Air Wing of the OMDF, which had made a flyby over the fleet at the ferocious speed of
Mach 0,9. The Osean fighter squadron made one flyby over the fleet to confirm that the fleet
sailing over northern Louria belonged to the Louria Kingdom. The pilots zoomed in on the gun
camera and confirmed that the fleet was flying the Lourian flag.

“The target fleet is confirmed to be that of the Louria Kingdom. All aircraft, commence attack.”

With wings glowing, the F-35C and F/A-18F began to swoop down one after another, loaded
with large quantities of various anti-surface armaments. Noen of the Osean aircraft carried the
LSM, a long-range air-to-ship missile ideal for anti-ship attacks, as it was deemed not cost-
effective against sailing ships. In other words, they were not necessary.

“Let the attack begin! Teach the Lourian guests on the Qua-Toyne trip to swim!”
“All fighters, engage!”
“Target locked! Fox Two, Fox Two!”

With the order to begin the attack, all of the planes simultaneously fired and projected all of their
onboard weapons at the target, the Lourian sailing ships. The unleashed bombs, missiles, and
cluster bombs rained down on the Lourian fleet, following gravity and the Seeker’s guidance and
control. A storm of destruction hit the Lourian fleet in the hundreds.

All manner of anti-surface armaments dropped from the Osean planes reliably unleashed their
power against the Lourian forces. Dozens of sailing ships were engulfed in the explosion, and
many more capsized in the water column. Pieces of wood and ship parts were blown to pieces
and scattered around with flesh, pouring out to sea in pieces.
The fact that the Lourian fleet was sailing in a dense formation proved to be its undoing, as
dozens of ships were quickly swallowed up by the explosion and reduced to mere wreckage as
they drifted across the sea.

“Hit, hit!”
“Good, good, drop more bombs!”
“I can do this with my eyes closed!”

A large number of Lourian ships could be seen blowing away from the Osean aircraft in the sky
above. In addition, the oil from the napalm bombs that did not burn up remained in flames and
burned the sea. Eventually, several pieces of debris and flesh floated on the calm sea, and the
surface of the sea was filled with various objects. A mixed chorus of screams, shouts, and cries
of despair, which were heard late, echoed in the sea, accentuating the hellish scene even more.

“W-what… what just happened!!?”

Sharkun was shocked by the suddenness of the event. A formation of mysterious unidentified
riders came towards him once, and immediately after that they dropped a large number of
something towards the fleet, and the next moment the sea exploded.

Sharkun had never seen anything like this before, and it was understandable that he was shocked.
But then the formation of unidentified riders headed for the fleet again, dropping something in
large numbers again, and the entire ocean exploded. While Sharkun dived into the sea of
thoughts, the ships of the fleet were being sunk, one by one, in seconds.

“Oh no, we’re going to be wiped out! Signalman, call in aerial support for the wyvern force! Tell
them we’re still within range of their wyverns, and we’re engaged with the main enemy force!”

Sharkun ordered his radio operator. There were less than 20 unidentified riders in the air, and he
was sure that a horde of wyverns would be able to defeat them. He didn’t know yet that it was
futile.

Same time
Louria Kingdom, Royal Capital Jin-Hark/Royal Army General Headquarters

“Message from the Eastern Conquest Fleet of Louria. This fleet is currently engaged in a battle
with the enemy’s main air force, requesting air support.”
“Oh, the enemy’s main force…”
Patagene heard the transmission from Sharkun and immediately flies out instructions.

“Order the Dragon Knights. Send 250 wyverns immediately to provide air support for the fleet.”
“250? We’ll have no wyverns left in the main army…”
“Didn’t you hear me? 250. It’s a fool’s errand to send in a few at a time.”
“Yes, sir!”

The order is passed on to the Dragon Knights. If Patagene had been informed at this point that
the 400.000 troops scheduled to march from the ground to conquer the east had disappeared,
none of this would have mattered. However, since the Eastern Conquest Army disappeared in
such a short period of time, there was no communication to report it.

Therefore, Patagene was unaware of the disappearance of the Eastern Conquest Army, and it was
only natural that he flew the wyverns. At Patagene’s command, the dragon knights, the symbol
of the kingdom’s elite, donned their light armor and mounted their wyverns one after another.
The wyverns flapped their wings and flew into the sky.

Off the coast of the Louria Kingdom/Osean Fleet

The Osean fleet had E-2C early warning aircraft in the air above the fleet in case of emergency.
The E-2C’s disc-shaped AN/APS-145 radar had detected a large formation approaching the fleet.

“Radar contact! There’s movement in the Lourian army. 250 wyverns have been confirmed to
have sortied from the royal capital, and they appear to be heading towards the Lourian fleet.”

The operators aboard the E-2C, who had been monitoring the movements of the Lourian army,
immediately informed the carrier Andersen, the flagship of the Osean fleet, of this movement. At
the same time, they also transmitted the E-2C’s radar information via datalink. In response,
Andersen and the other ships of the Third Fleet’s CIC were in a flurry of activity. Captain Liam,
who doubles as Andersen’s captain and fleet commander, immediately gives out orders.

“Order the strike force to stand down temporarily and send out the Tomcats to secure airspace.
Other ships, prepare for battle. All hands, prepare for anti-air combat!”

Twelve F-14D Super Tomcat fighters, which had been ready to launch on the carrier Andersen’s
flight deck, were launched one after another by steam catapults and formed a formation in the
sky.
“Captain Liam!”
“What?”
“Good news, sir, the Air Force’s LRSSG will be arriving in this airspace shortly!”

Liam was lucky enough when he heard the report that the LRSSG was about to arrive, flying in
as the F-14D proceeded to launch. It’s that ace, the Three Strikes’ unit. Captain Liam believed
that the ace, the Three Strikes would surely make a splash. And the time to prove him right was
fast approaching.

Over the fleet

The OADF LRSSG, consisting of one A-10C attacker and seven F-15C fighters, was reaching
the skies above the Third Fleet of the Osean navy, which was facing the Lourian fleet at sea.

“It’s the Lourian fleet.”

At the same time, the large fleet of the Lourian navy comes into view. They were so large that
they filled the entire ocean. The horizon was farther than the Earth’s, and since they were in the
sky, they could see the Lourian fleet in the distance.

“Wow, that’s a lot of people.”

“The sea is filled with ships and boats. How many ships did they prepare?”
“This will be a good story for my son back home.”

The members of the LRSSG were leaking their impressions one by one. They were amazed at
the fact that they had prepared so many ships, and dismayed at the fact that all of them were
anachronistic wooden sailing ships.

“This is Long Caster. I have some bad news.”

The LRSSG flying towards the enemy fleet received a transmission from the AWACS.

“Today was supposed to be a big wooden ship eating contest with the navy guys, but it seems
that someone wants to interrupt our meal. 250 wyverns of the Lourian army are approaching
from the west. Intercept them with naval aircraft.”

This was an unexpected appearance of enemy air power. However, during the Lighthouse War, it
was not uncommon to be told that you were flying an anti-surface mission… but turned out to be
an anti-air mission. In any case, the majority of the units were F-15C Eagles, which are strong in
air combat, but the one remaining aircraft was an A-10C Thunderbolt II, which is clearly
unsuitable for air combat.

“What are you going to do, Trigger? Your aircraft is an attacker, it is not suitable for air
combat.”

And even more so when it is the captain’s plane. The aircraft that Trigger, the leader of the
LRSSG, was currently operating was the A-10C Thunderbolt II, an attack aircraft with no long-
range anti-aircraft missiles and weak air combat maneuvers.

Normally, in this case, only the commander’s plane should stand by in the rear and only the other
planes should fight, but the problem was that the pilot flying the commander’s plane often did
reckless things, and the customization of the commander’s plane. In conclusion, Trigger flew the
A-10 at supersonic speed to engage in an air battle and rushed into the air.

“Well, that was it. You’d do battle with that plane.”

Trigger didn’t care if the members of his unit told him so. Trigger’s A-10 is capable of
supersonic flight due to Scrap Queen’s magical modifications. In addition, if the opponent are
wyverns that are not very strong, he can at least fight air battles. It is quite absurd, but the ace
pilot, Trigger, has been doing that absurdity until now.

“This is OMDF Tomcat squadron, we are heading to intercept the enemy wyverns jointly with
your squadron… I didn’t expect you to come in an A-10.”

In the end, the LRSSG met up with a formation of navy F-14Ds that had departed from the
aircraft carrier Andersen. They seem confused at the inclusion of an A-10, but it can’t be helped.

“Don’t mind me, it was originally intended for anti-ship missions only. Besides, this A-10 can fly
at Mach, so it’s fine, no problem.”
“…Huh?”

While the LRSSG and the Tomcats were conversing over the radio, the enemy wyverns were
closing in, and soon they were in range of all the missiles.

“It’s about time. Let’s rampage to our heart’s content.”

And so, in the skies above the Rodenius Continent, a large-scale air battle began.
Notes
- A-10 Thunderbolt II
A heavily armed and highly durable ground attack aircraft developed by Osea for close
air support. It has anti-surface equipment such as the GAU-8 Avenger 30 mm Gatling
gun, which can be said to be dedicated equipment, stable maneuverability acquired at the
expense of speed, and heavy armor that is unbecoming of an aircraft. Although it was
originally developed to destroy the tank forces of the Yuke Army, it was vulnerable to air
attacks due to its over-specialization in ground attack, and for a long time it was not
given a chance to play an active role, and some of it was sold to other countries including
Belka. However, in 1995, during the Belkan War, both Oseans and Belkans deployed the
A-10 in battle, and using a variety of anti-surface armaments including a 30 mm machine
gun, the A-10 achieved overwhelming results, including the destruction of approximately
500 tanks of both armies. As a result, the A-10s were used as the main attack aircraft by
the air forces of various countries, including the A-10s of Osea, and their avionics were
modified, such as the A-10C of the OADF. Some of them even have magical
modifications that allow them to fly at supersonic speeds. It is equivalent to the A-10 in
the real world.
- E-2C Hawkeye
An early warning aircraft (AEW) of the OMDF. It was developed for the purpose of
monitoring air defense over the fleet using radar, and was designed to be small enough to
be mounted on an aircraft carrier. It is currently being upgraded to an improved version,
the E-2D. It is equivalent to the E-2C in the real world.

CHAPTER 11: Great Battle off Rodenius – Part 2

The first to launch an attack on the 250 enemy wyverns was the Cevennes Squadron, consisting
of F-14D fighters launched from aircraft carriers. Unlike the LRSSG, the Cevennes were
originally equipped with long-range AAMs for aerial combat. As the carrier was located close to
the royal capital of Louria, the Tomcats was able to bring the wyvern group within range of the
AIM-120 medium-range AAMs just a few seconds after launching.

“Cevennes Squadron, we will not begin our attack against the enemy. Cevennes 1, engage. Fox
Three!”

All twelve F-14D Tomcats opened the lids of the externally mounted weapon pods suspended
under their wings, and fired the AIM-120s stored inside at once.

“Cevennes 2, Fox Three!”

“Cevennes 3, 6, Fox Three.”
“Cevennes 7, 12, Fox Three!!”
The AIM-120s, 96 in number and flying at Mach 4, quickly approached and closed the distance
to the formation of 250 wyverns, and in the blink of an eye, many of the missiles impacted one
after another. The air-to-air missiles triggered their proximity fuses and exploded, and 96
wyverns were swallowed up in the explosion of several missiles that rose into the sky and
crashed into pieces of flesh.

“What the hell happened!?”

“Those guys in front of us were wiped out in an instant!”
“Hostiles! Spread out, spread out!!”

The Lourian dragon knights were confused by the tragedy that had suddenly befallen them. In
the meantime, twelve F-14Ds, having confirmed the results of their missile attack, were about to
launch another attack against the enemy wyverns. The Osean fighters could reload their missiles
in the air, but because of the proximity of the two sides, the F-14Ds entered the dogfight before
the missiles could be reloaded.

“Strider and Cyclops Squadrons, engage the enemy! Don’t fall behind the Navy guys!”

At the same time, the 7 F-15Cs and one A-10C of LRSSG also charged at Mach speed. Both
formations quickly closed the distance between them, bringing their targets within range of the
short-range missiles.

“Something’s coming from the front!”

“It’s a guided fireball! Intercept them!”

Meanwhile, the Lourian dragon knights also noticed the formation of Osean fighters about to
enter a dogfight. They signaled each other with their manacom, and each wyvern spread its
wings, stretched its neck, and gradually formed a fireball in its mouth.

“AWACS Long Caster to all planes, dogfight. Bite down the target of your choice in front of
you!”
“This is Cevennes 1, Cevennes Squadron, disperse and move freely, go!”

An A-10C, 7 F-15Cs, and 12 F-14Ds faced the 154 enemy wyverns head on. It was the Lourians
that fired first, with the wyvern formation firing guided fireballs and conducting surface
suppression fire on the space. Immediately after, the Osean fighters fired a total of 40 AIM-9
Sidewinder short range AAMs, and both sides moved into evasive maneuvers.

“Spread out, evade the enemy’s fire bombs!”

“All planes, break! Break!”

A storm of destruction by iron and flames rushed to both sides one after another. They crossed in
the air, and both of them met each other. However, while the Osean fighters were able to avoid
the slow and unguided fireballs by soaring, the wyverns, who had neither chaff nor flares, were
unable to avoid the missiles.

Despite the overwhelming numerical inferiority of 1:13, the loss of the Oseans was zero. In
contrast, the Lourian wyverns, which was supposed to have an overwhelming numerical
advantage, saw 26 of its riders shot down.

“All planes, commence dogfighting. There are still more than 100 enemies left, so don’t let your
guard down!”

The Osean fighters and Lourian cavalry approached each other at a frightening relative speed and
intersected at sea. The two sides entered a dogfight. From then on, it was truly a mixed battle.
No, more accurately, it was a one-sided battle, or rather, annihilation. The Lourian wyverns were
bushed and crashed in front of 20 Osean aircraft.

“What the hell are these people!? What the hell!”

“Goddamn it, I keep shooting and shooting, and I don’t feel like I’m getting any less! How many
of them are there!?”

There is wailing confusion on both sides in the radio and manacom, but there is no Osean plane
among the objects that are being crashed. The Osean side is quickly reducing the number of
wyverns with zero loss. As a tactic, the Tomcats keeps a constant distance from the wyverns and
fires missiles unilaterally into the swarms, while the LRSSG plunges into the fire themselves.

Taking advantage of their high speed, the F-15Cs of the LRSSG rampaged through the wyvern-
filled sky. The A-10, the only one of its kind, fired its 30 mm Avenger machine gun wildly.

“That Trigger guy, what a maneuver for an attack plane!”

“Only that different looking iron dragon is terrifyingly strong! Avoid it!”
“Shit, the captain’s down! I’ve got to get out of here!”

Trigger’s A-10 attacker is repeatedly maneuvering at uncommonly high speeds, thanks in part to
modifications to the plane, and is shooting down wyverns with missiles and 30 mm machine
guns. The A-10’s 30 mm Avenger was originally a machine gun designed to break through thick
tank armor, so it was not hard to imagine what would happen if it were to hit a living wyvern.
In addition, Trigger is able to hit the wyvern with a hundred shots with the precision of a sniper,
so Trigger alone has earned most of the battle results of the Osean aircraft. This is why the Osean
fighters shot down nearly 160 wyverns in four short minutes, with almost no damage.

On the other hand, there was an entity from the sea that wanted to join the battle.

“This ship will join the battle. Prepare for anti-air combat!”
“Preparing for anti-air combat!”

When there were less than 70 wyverns left, a part of the Osean fleet was about to join the
interception battle against the wyverns. The Osean fleet included four Aegis ships, one
Ticonderoga-class cruiser and one Arleigh Burke-class destroyer equipped with the Aegis
system.

One of those Ticonderoga-class ships began to join the battle. This cruiser, Excalibur, had also
participated in the Circum-Pacific War, and was an old ship that had undergone various updates
while remaining in service until the present day.

“Pulse laser, aiming ready.”

“Aiming, ready!”

The update included the installation of the PLSL, which had been developed as a dual-purpose
surface-to-air weapon for aircraft, delivering a series of high-powered lasers in short, intermittent
bursts. The PLSL turret mounted on the rear deck of the cruiser Excalibur swivels to precisely
target the wyvern in the sky using the FCS. The PLSL was originally designed to be mounted on
aircraft, but with the addition of more room on the ship, the PLSL was enlarged, greatly
increasing its power and range.

“This is the anti-aircraft ship Excalibur. We will now commence anti-aircraft fire. PLSL,
commence firing.”
“Commence fire!”

Immediately afterwards, lasers are fired intermittently into the sky from the PLSL. Excalibur
fired pulse lasers one after another with great accuracy to avoid misfiring on friendly aircraft.

Wyverns that could not evade the precisely aimed lasers were instantly burned to death in midair
and plummeted to the sea, emitting a savory smell of burning and black smoke. Some of the
wyverns and dragon knights went up in flames and plunged into the sea, rubbing their cones as
they caught fire.

“Damn it, we can’t win this thing!!”

“This is crazy! We’re dealing with the Qua-Toyne, right!? Their wyverns can’t possibly be this
far apart in performance, GYAAH—”
“The wings are burned out! I’m falling!”
“Somebody cover me! Cov—GAH”
“Gyaaaaah!! Agh, ack, ack, aaaah!!!”

Of course, that didn’t slow down the attack by the Osean fighters. One by one, more and more
Lourian wyverns were being brought down from the sky. The cruiser’s PLSL attacks and the A-
10C, F-15C, and F-14D destroyed the wyverns in the blink of an eye, and 30 seconds after the
start of Excalibur’s PLSL attack, the wyverns were completely annihilated.

The battle ended in the sky, and silence reigned over the great sea.

Same time
Ocean

“The wyverns…”

Sharkun was stunned. The wyvern, a literal one-horse race, probably numbering more than 200,
had been annihilated in the blink of an eye by just a few flying objects.

No, it wasn’t just Sharkun. All the Lourian soldiers belonging to the fleet witnessed the entire
thing and were equally stunned. Or shocked.

—This can’t be happening.

—This kind of hell is unacceptable.
—This can’t be real.

They all tried to deny the unbelievable scene that was unfolding before them. But they did not
have the material to do so. And the tragedy gave them no time to deny it.

“E-enemy riders! The enemy riders are coming at us again!!”

Someone shouted, and the Lourian sailors looked up at the sky in panic. The flying objects that
had attacked the fleet and wyverns earlier reappeared in the sky and attacked the fleet again.
Sharkun’s face turned pale. Now that the wyverns were gone, there was nothing they could do to
counter the enemy in the sky. In other words, they would be attacked unilaterally.

No, the wyverns were no match for them from the start, but at least they could have retreated
with their own fleet using their allied wyverns as cover. But it was too late for regret. Because
the attack had resumed.

The signal for the resumption of the attack came when a fireball of FAEB, fuel vaporization
bombs dropped by the A-10C Thunderbolt II attacker, appeared on the sea, calming down the
many wooden sailing ships that were there.

“T-the enemy are going to attack us again…!!”

Sharkun glared at the F-35Cs, F/A-18Fs, Rafale Ms, F-14Ds and F-15Cs that had returned and
replaced their anti-aircraft armament with guided bombs, and the A-10C, which for some reason
only had one plane.

The Osean fighters in turn reduce altitude and unleash guided bombs (GPBs), anti-ground
missiles (AGMs), stand-off dispensers (SODs), napalm bombs (NPMs) and fuel vaporization
bombs (FAEBs) on the fleet.

The unguided bombs maintained their kinetic energy as they rushed forward, while the missiles
and guided bombs fell with their guidance systems maintaining the optimal position to hit the
target.

Immediately afterwards, several explosions occurred again, and huge columns of water rose out
of the sea. The wooden sailing ships of Louria sank one after another, either swallowed up by the
explosions and torn to pieces, ignited by the napalm and set ablaze, or tossed about by the water
column. Seeing this scene, the Lourian sailors were terrified, desperate, and sat down, saying
something incomprehensible. The Lourian fleet was becoming dominated by a state of complete
panic.

“Ugh… how am I supposed to face an enemy like this!?” Sharkun lamented as he watched the
sailing ship explode into flames and be dragged into the sea. That sailing ship had also been
sailing next to Sharkun’s ship just a few moments ago, but was sunk in an instant.

Every time bombs and missiles rained down, Louria’s sailing ship was instantly engulfed in
flames and blasts that cut it in half and sank into the sea, along with the sailors who were
unlucky enough not to be killed immediately.
Even cluster bombs unleashed from the SOD would shatter a wooden ship, which would be
unable to withstand the explosion. Not to mention the air-to-surface missiles that could destroy
even the MBTs in one hit.

“There’s no way we can win like that!”

“Run! Run! There’s no way we can fight that thing!”
“Calm down, calm down!”

The Lourian fleet was in a state of panic due to lack of control, and some ships even started to
turn around to escape on their own. As a result, there were many accidents and collisions
between warships, and the fleet did not know which way to go, causing further confusion.

Sharkun aimed to maintain control among the sailors, but even in the midst of this, the aerial
bombardment of the Lourian fleet by Osean planes continued, turning it into a completely futile
effort.

“Admiral! Enemy flying object approaching rapidly from low altitude ahead!”
“What!?”

Meanwhile, the A-10C, the only attacker in the Osean fighter squadron, approached rapidly from
a very low altitude of 20 feet. Of course, it was Trigger’s plane.

With his skillful piloting skill, he flew the A-10C at an altitude of 20 feet (6 meters), and rapidly
approached the Lourian fleet. The sight gave Sharkun a bad premonition.

“Get down!” Sharkun shouted, and instantly, the A-10C’s 30 mm Avenger opened fire. The
machine gun fires horizontally from a very low altitude, and the high-powered depleted uranium
shells that smash through even the armor of tanks shot overhead.

“—!!”

Sharkun lets out an inarticulate scream. The ship’s sails are riddled with holes, and the mast is
snapped off and impaled on the deck.

The firing of the machine gun from very low altitude shredded many ships into a beehive, and
the penetrating machine gun shells even destroyed the ships beyond. In an instant, hundreds of
sailing ships were riddled with holes. While firing, the A-10C passed right over the ship with the
missing mast at a speed as slow as a wyvern’s – but fast enough for Sharkun and the others.

“Just one attack… and we’re screwed!”

When Sharkun saw that the A-10 had passed, he stood up and looked around in astonishment.
The surrounding sailing ships were all covered in holes and flooded, and the sea was swallowing
them up.

“Admiral!”
“What is it this time!?”
“More enemy riders approaching from the east… there are enemy ships in sight!”
“That… that is ridiculous!”

From the east came the HH-9B general purpose helicopters and CH-47 transport helicopters that
had been launched from the carrier Andersen. They were armed with 7,62 mm M134 miniguns.
Four aegis ships escorting the Andersen were also approaching the scene and were about to start
a bombardment with their main guns and PLSLs.

The helicopters flew in, firing their miniguns like gunships to take out the ships one by one
without fail. The Aegis ships fired their main guns and lasers, sinking the enemy ships one by
one in the blink of an eye.

Then, the fighters with zero missiles left joined in, firing 20 mm Vulcans at the Lourian fleet,
shredding and breaking the wooden ships that had been hit by the 20 mm rounds.

A wooden ship hit by 7,62 mm minigun was not sunk by itself, but its fabric sails were torn off
and its wooden hull was easily pierced by the supersonic bullets. The wooden hull of the ship
was easily pierced by the supersonic bullets, and if one of the unlucky bullets that pierced the
hull found a pot of oil that had been prepared for fire arrows, the ignited oil would instantly
engulf the wooden ship in flames.

“Another ship has sunk!”

“Damn it, damn it, damn it!”
“Help me, I don’t want to die!!”
“Don’t come… don’t come to me!!”

The area became like a hunting ground, and the Lourian soldiers were all surrounded by fear.
Puddles of water formed under the feet of the sailors, and their limbs trembled in fear as their
allies sank one after another, unable to resist.

“No, we can’t win…”

While the soldiers were terrified, Sharkun was also standing there in despair. No matter what he
did, he can’t win. No, they are not even able to fight in the first place.
At this rate, the lives of his men would be reduced to nothing. But no matter what he did, there
was nothing he could do. Even the ship that Sharkun was on had been hit in the mast, and he
could not even escape.

It was all over now—Sharkun realized that completely, but God had not abandoned him.

“…Hmm?”

Sharkun noticed that the area had suddenly gone quiet. He took a look around and saw the flying
object that have been relentlessly projecting explosive magic attacks from the sky have stopped
attacking. The same is true of the flying objects and enemy ships that have stopped their attacks.

“This is the Osean Maritime Defense Force. Attention, Royal Navy of Louria, surrender. I
repeat, surrender. If you surrender, lower your sails, stop your ships, raise the white flag, and
surrender your weapons.”

In a voice so loud that he wondered if it was using the magical loudspeaker used in civilized
countries, the flying object recommended surrender.

But for Sharkun, it was more surprising that the opponent he was fighting was not the Qua-
Toyne, but a country he had never heard of called Osea.

But that was not the point right now. The question was whether or not to surrender.

The biggest fleet in the Louria Kingdom’s history was defeated with almost all of its strength. If
he returned to his country, he would be punished for his actions—at worst, he would be
executed, and his name would forever remain in the history books as an incompetent general.
But he can’t let all his men die.

“…Signalman.”
“Sir…”
“Send this to all warships. Tell all ships to comply with the Oseans’ recommendation to
surrender…”

A manacom went out to all the ships in the Lourian fleet. The Lourian soldiers, who had
experienced the horror to the fullest, immediately disarmed themselves according to the
instructions, stopped the ship, and thrust their underwear on the ship as a white flag.

The OADF LRSSG and OMDF’s Third Fleet sank about 3.500 of the 4.400 ships in the Lourian
fleet, allowing nearly 100 ships to escape, but forcing about 800 ships to surrender.
The naval battle that would later be known as the “Great Battle off Rodenius” came to an end
here.

Notes
- F-14D Tomcat
A large carrier-based fighter plane for the OMDF’s fleet air defense. It has stability due
to its variable wing shape, and long-range air defense capability due to the combination
of high-performance radar and long-range anti-aircraft missiles. Since its development in
the 1970s, the F-14D had undergone a series of modernizations and upgrades, and its
poorly maintainable engine and variable-wing mechanism have been improved in the
process, and it is now a fighter with excellent maintainability and availability. It is the
equivalent to the F-14D in the real world.
- HH-9B
A carrier-based rescue helicopter operated by the Osean Marine Corps. Although it is
called a rescue helicopter, it is actually intended to rescue friendly pilots who have crash-
landed in enemy territory, and is also operated as a gunship by being armed with heavy
machine guns and miniguns. Although not as powerful as a transport helicopter, they can
be used to transport personnel and supplies.
- Cruiser Excalibur
One of the Ticonderoga-class cruisers belonging to the OMDF Third Fleet. It was
commissioned in the 1990s and has participated in the Circum-Pacific War and the
Lighthouse War. In the Circum-Pacific War in 2010, she faced a surprise attack by
enemy air forces on Port St. Hewlett, but escaped from the port. She continued to work
on various fronts and managed to survive the war. She also took part in the Lighthouse
War, but since she was already becoming an obsolete ship at that time, she was deployed
only for air defense warning missions in the seas around her home country, and the war
ended without any particular damage. As of 2022, it is already a very old ship, but with
modernization and refurbishment, including the installation of laser weapons, it is
expected to remain in service. The name of the ship is unusual for an Osean navy ship,
and it is often used as a joke on the internet in its home country. Also, since the ship is
equipped with laser weapons, it is often used as a reference to Belka’s Excalibur.

CHAPTER 12: End of War

April 15, 1639 Central Calendar, 10:00

Louria Kingdom, Royal Capital Jin-Hark/Hark Castle

At the Hark Castle in Jin-Hark, King Hark Louria XXXIV was about to hold an urgent meeting
with the participation of the King of Louria. Just two and a half weeks ago, a meeting had been
held to decide whether to start a war with the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom,
but this time the meeting was even more important than that.

“The Royal Conference will now begin…” Patagene, who was facilitating the meeting as in the
previous one, opened his mouth.

But now, everyone could see that he had completely lost his enthusiasm from last time.

“About two hours ago, we received a message from Admiral Sharkun of the Royal Navy’s
Eastern Conquest Fleet, which was marching towards the Qua-Toyne Principality…”

And as if to match Patagene’s depression, the participants of the meeting and even King Hark
Louria remained silent. The silence was deepened by the next words that came out of Patagene’s
mouth.

“The Eastern Conquest Fleet engaged the Osean Maritime Defense Force two days after setting
sail. Despite the fact that the fleet was supported by 250 dragon knights, nearly 3.500 of the
fleet’s 4.400 ships were sunk, and 250 dragon knights were also wiped out…”

For this war, the Louria Kingdom prepared a scale of wyverns, warships, and men never seen
before in the history of its founding. In spite of this, both the wyverns, which claimed to be the
best of all worlds, and the warships, which were prepared in very large numbers, suffered
unprecedentedly heavy losses.

“In response, Admiral Sharkun has surrendered to the Osean navy…”

The total damage suffered by the Lourian Navy in this battle was approximately 4.300 ships,
including surrendering to the enemy and sinking. They also lost 135.000 of their 140.000 sailors,
which was a tremendous loss. In the first place, it took six years to gather the fleet, and there is
no prospect of rebuilding it.

“In addition, the Eastern Conquest Army led by General Pandour, which was scheduled to
invade the Qua-Toyne Principality from land, has been out of contact for three days.”

As soon as Patagene started talking about this, the conference participants reacted by raising one
eyebrow and widening their eyes. It was as if they hadn’t heard about it – or rather, they hadn’t.
This is because the information had just been delivered to them a short while ago, and apparently
only a few of the people participating in the meeting had been told about it, other than Patagene.
“We dispatched wyverns from capital to confirm, and found that the Eastern Conquest Army’s
main camp near the border had disappeared. There were no survivors, and the remains of the
main camp left a pile of corpses and burnt earth…”

The silence in the conference room, which seemed to go on forever, was only slightly broken by
Patagene’s report. There were whispers and startled monologues. It was a sign that the people in
the room were upset.

Naturally, the participants in the meeting had not been told about Patagene’s story, and if you
counted only human casualties, the damage was much greater than that of the navy.

“If the Eastern Conquest Army is considered to have been completely wiped out, its losses would
amount to 400.000 soldiers and 150 dragon knights… Considering the damage caused by the
naval battle, I’m guessing that Osea is involved here as well…”

The room was once again enveloped in silence, this time probably due to the fact that all the
participants in the meeting were in raptures. However, as if to break the silence, Miminel, who is
known as one of the three great generals of Louria, slammed the desk and stood up angrily.

“Prime Minister! In the first place, according to your story, wasn’t Osea supposed to be a country
that posed no serious threat? And why didn’t you report the declaration of war from Osea right
after our army crossed the border?”

As Miminel glared at Maus, the Prime Minister, Maus also opened his mouth to argue.

“I’m sure I said that, and I didn’t report it. But who could have predicted that a new country
without even a dragon knight would be able to go this far? It’s precisely because we didn’t
expect it that we all agreed to go to war, isn’t it?”
“Oh, you’ve got it backwards. You’re a fool if you can’t even take responsibility for what you
say.”
“Hmph, isn’t it the fault of the army that they couldn’t win against the enemy despite having
such a large force? How dare you try to put the blame for our defeat on others?”
“It’s a problem with the Prime Minister who didn’t read deeply into what kind of country Osea
was in the first place, not the responsibility of the military—”
“Enough!”

Miminel and Maus fell silent at the sound of that one grave voice echoing through the room. It
was Hark Louria. Miminel and Maus, who had cooled down, were also embarrassed that they
had made such an abomination in front of the king. While keeping a close eye on them, King
Louria asked Patagene.
“Patagene, how much strength do you have left to attack Qua-Toyne again?” In a dignified
voice, King Louria asked Patagene, and he meekly answered.
“…About 100.000 soldiers, 100 warships, and 100 dragon knights left. This alone is more than
the total strength of Qua-Toyne, but considering the defense of the country, it is unlikely that we
will be able to invade other countries.”

King Louria pondered over Patagene’s reply, then turned to the black-robed man who seemed to
have a particularly odd presence among the participants in the conference room and asked.

“Emissary of the Parpaldia Empire, may I once again ask for your support in this crisis in the
Louria Kingdom?”
“……”

However, the black-robed man did not answer. Eventually, he reluctantly got up from his seat,
and he tried to leave the room in silence. King Louria shouted at his back.

“Where are you going?”

“Hmm… I want you to take a break from being an idiot. We’re scrambling to make ends meet
because of their incompetence… The only reason we risked investing in Louria was because of
the return we would get from unifying Rodenius. Now that it’s over, I really don’t care about the
survival of Louria. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
“What…! You’re disrespecting the Great King!”

Maus protested against the black-robed person’s response, but he just left the room. The king
could have had his guards restrain him, but he is a messenger of Parpaldia. If he did that, Louria
would be at war with Parpaldia. There was no choice but to leave him alone.

“It’s over…”

Now that there is no more help from the powers, there is nothing more that Louria can do. Just as
King Louria was muttering to himself as he watched the black-robed man leave the room, a man
from the Lourian army burst into the room.

“Excuse me for interrupting the meeting!”

The eyes were drawn to him.

“I’ve just received a manacom from the Osean Federation, which appears to have been relayed to
us by the diplomatic corps of Qua-Toyne…”
“What?”
The people in the conference room all turned their gaze to the man, as the manacom from the
enemy, Osea, had been sent.

“The contents… the contents, it says. ‘The Osean Federation advises the Louria Kingdom to
surrender. If you surrender, please send a magical message to that effect, and cease fire with
Qua-Toyne and Louria.’”

It was an unexpected recommendation to surrender.

“And then…”
“And then?”
“Yes, sir… ‘Currently, our naval forces are deployed in the waters near your capital. In the event
that you do not accept this recommendation to surrender, Osea is prepared to launch an attack
against your capital that will obliterate your invasion force.’”

Once again, the room was enveloped in silence. This time, it was neither quiet nor stunned. It
was an exclamation. The attack that had annihilated 400.000 invading troops was now, albeit
threateningly, being directed at this capital city. If that happens, what will happen to this capital
and to them in the royal castle?

“Your Majesty, it’s possible that this is a plot by the enemy. You should make a calm judgment
here—”

Patagene makes a suggestion to King Louria, but he denies it, saying, “No…”, and spoke.

“Let us surrender. In any case, we have lost enough strength to invade. There is no way we can
invade in this state. Besides, if the enemy attack is directed at this place… there will be many
casualties. Our ambitions have been crushed.” King Louria said in a very calm voice. It was a
voice of resignation that was almost refreshing.

“Maus, tell Osea that I surrender.”

King Louria ordered the Prime Minister to tell the man who had reported to him the contents of
the reply message.

It was at noon on April 15, 1639, that the Louria Kingdom announced its surrender to the Osean
Federation, and announced a truce with the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom in a
magical message.
It was humiliating for them to surrender so soon after the war with Qua-Toyne, but it was better
than the death of their country. In response to Louria’s declaration of surrender, the Osean Third
Fleet, led by the aircraft carrier Andersen, which had been deployed off the coast of Jin-Hark,
anchored at a port north of the city.

In the next few days, the Osean diplomatic corps from the home country flew in V-22 Ospreys to
the carrier Andersen, and then they landed at Jin-Hark.

This was the end of the war. It took only three days for the Louria Kingdom to declare surrender.
This was much shorter than the Circum-Pacific War, which lasted only three months, and for
Osea, who had experienced the Lighthouse War, which lasted more than half a year, it wasn’t
much of a war.

Parpaldia Empire National Strategy Bureau

The National Strategy Bureau is the department of Parpaldia Empire that is responsible for
securing the interests of the Empire abroad. In one of the rooms of this department, there were
two Parpaldian men.

“…It seems that the Louria Kingdom has surrendered to the Osean Federation, and a truce has
been reached with the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom.”

One of the men—Parso, broke out in a cold sweat and reported to his boss, the other man—
Ianos.

“The support for the Louria Kingdom is at the sole discretion of our National Strategy Bureau…
Do you know how much support we’ve given to Louria? Of course, we’ll try to cover it up, but if
the emperor ever hears about this, the National Strategy Bureau itself will be in danger. If that
happens, you and I won’t get off scot-free.”
“I… I’m very sorry!”

Parso bowed to Ianos at a near 90-degree right angle and apologized.

“No, I’m not angry. It’s just that… if things went well, we would have taken control of the
resources and interests of the Rodenius Continent in one fell swoop, and we would have reported
to the Emperor with the credit. If we had done that, our reputation would have been
considerable… Now, you and I both have to consider the risk to our own lives.”
Ianos put his hand on his chin and thought about it. After a moment, he spoke.

“It’s hard to believe that a country the size of Louria was defeated by an unknown new power in
just three days, despite our support. What kind of weapons did the enemy use?” Ianos turned to
Parso and asked.
“About that, I… I have instructed my local agent, Valhal, to accompany the Lourian fleet to
check on the battle, but he was lost in the fighting. Details unknown.”
“Even if the agent is dead, there are probably some Lourian soldiers who participated in the
battle. We should be able to get at least some information from them.”

But Parso’s gazes wandered, and he answered after a moment.

“That’s why… the intelligence officer who replaced Valhal in the field is collecting information,
but he can’t gather any information because there are no survivors in the invasion force…”
“Nonsense. I believe there were 400.000 invading troops, and they were wiped out within three
days of the start of the war?”
“Yes… there were a few survivors of the navy, but the information is all ridiculous: Osea
controls flying dragons that flies at the speed of sound and uses a series of explosive magic like a
divine dragon. There were only a few survivors, but the information they were able to get out of
them was so ridiculous that there were less than ten of them so far.”

Ianos thought again, but quickly opened his mouth.

“Hmm, that’s information manipulation. I’m sure it is, since there are only a few people who
could get it out of them. But if the local agent is dead… hmm, that’s convenient.”
“Huh?”
“Don’t you see? Erase the evidence. Burn all documents related to the support of the Louria
Kingdom. Suspend all intelligence gathering and have your agents stand down. Leave no
evidence of our involvement. For the sake of this bureau, yourself, and your family.”

The National Strategy Bureau, which had been supporting the Louria Kingdom, decided to
thoroughly cover up the entirety of the war of aggression caused by Louria.

Qua-Toyne Principality, Capital Qua-Toyne/Political Subcommittee

“—in conclusion, the Louria Kingdom has surrendered to the Osean Federation, and has made a
truce with our country and the Quila Kingdom. Louria has not been able to suppress the
dissenters due to this defeat, and is doing its best to suppress domestic issues. Louria cannot
afford to send troops out of the country at the moment, and some Osean troops have begun to
enter Louria to help with security operations. Our country, the Qua-Toyne Principality, has been
saved.”

The place was abuzz. At first, there were those who questioned the power of Osea, but they were
silenced and the majority became pro-Osea.

“What is the remaining strength of the Louria Kingdom?”

“There are nearly 100.000 men left, but since Louria needs to suppress the rebellion inside the
country, these men will not be heading out of the country at this time. The damage to the Lourian
army in this war has resulted in the loss of more than half of the dragon knights and more than
450.000 soldiers have died in this war. As for the navy, they were sunk by the Oseans in the
Great Battle off Rodenius, and most of them were captured when they surrendered, so there are
almost no warships or sailors left. In addition, some of the Lourian princes have declared their
independence from Louria and have sent a letter to our country to improve relations. And the
civilian death toll is… zero.”

The head of military finishes his long report. Osea has done some pretty spectacular things, but
to have no civilian deaths is a pretty clean war. Just like Erusea did when the Lighthouse War
first started.

Perhaps this is the only time it has happened, but it’s still a big deal. Kanata, the prime minister,
raised his hand and slowly began to speak.

“In any case, our country has been saved, and we should be happy about that. I hope we can
continue our friendly relations with Osea.”

The war on the Rodenius Continent, which began with the attack on the Qua-Toyne Principality,
came to an end in just three days due to the intervention of Osea.

CHAPTER 13: Post-War Processing

April 25, 1639 Central Calendar, 17:30

Oured/Bright Hill, Presidential Palace of Osea

In the capital city of Oured, there were currently a few people in suits coming and going. They
were bureaucrats who were busy dealing with the postwar situation. They were busy filling out
paperwork to make up for the economic losses caused by the military’s actions and to determine
the details of the peace treaty.
For Osea, the war with Louria was too short. Although they had entered the war with the aim of
fighting a short battle, it was no surprise that the war had ended in just three days, from the start
of the Lourian invasion to the surrender of Louria.

The fact that the war ended so quickly and before any decision had been made on how to deal
with the aftermath of the war was one of the reasons that the bureaucrats were immersed in
paperwork at a pace that could have caused them to die of exhaustion.

“The war is over, somehow.”

“Yes. To tell the truth, I was worried about what would happen, but I didn’t expect it to be over
so soon.”

While the bureaucrats were busy dealing with the aftermath of the war, members of the Osean
leadership were meeting in the presidential palace.

“Fortunately, that the ‘magic’ in example wasn’t that much of a threat. If Louria had used the
same kind of magic as in the fantasy, we would have been in a lot more trouble.”

The ministers nodded their heads in agreement to the President’s words. In this world, magic
actually exists, and the Osean leadership were aware of its existence based on information
obtained from Qua-Toyne. However, they didn’t understand how this could be a threat.

Louria’s level of science was that of the Middle Ages, and it was obvious that they would be no
match for the modern science of Osea. However, if magic was used as a means of attack, they
had no idea how much of a threat it would be to the Lourian army.

But when they opened their eyes, they realized that while it could replace guns and
communication devices, it was not as capable as field artillery or missiles. If this was the kind of
magic seen in fantasy movies, the Osean military would have had a hard time.

“The Lourians were only as strong as their level of civilization, but what is your assessment of
this war, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?”

The President asked one of the men in the Oval Office, Chairman Edwards. This is the man who
was the vice chairman of the Osean Defense Forces General Staff during the Lighthouse War,
but became chairman after the war. He is also the man who was in charge of planning the
operations for this war.

“Yes, frankly speaking, I think we were on the edge.”

“What do you mean, on the edge?”
The President listened back to Edwards’s impressions.

“Yes, we did minimize the number of troops sent by the Osean military for this war, but because
we minimized the number of troops, we had less strength, and if Louria had been stronger, the
troops we sent would have been forced to bleed.”
“I see…”
“But we had no choice but to send the minimum. With the shrunken military budget after the
Lighthouse War, the army can’t take it seriously. At the very least, if we had the budget, we
could do a large-scale deployment.”

In this war with Louria, the Osean military dispatched only the bare minimum of forces: less
than a hundred air force fighters and bombers, and a small mobile fleet of only one aircraft
carrier and four escort vessels. That was all.

After the war, only the Marines were stationed by Louria by transport helicopters under the guise
of maintaining security, but the rest of the ground forces were practically nonexistent. The reason
for such a small deployment was due to the Lighthouse War two years ago, in which the Osean
military suffered heavy losses.

Immediately after the start of the war, a surprise attack by the Erusean forces damaged all the
ships of the OMDF at anchor, a war of attrition with the Erusean military, which had mobilized a
large number of unmanned drones, confusion and friendly fire due to the collapse of the satellite
communication network, and a decisive battle between the Conservative Coalition and the
Radicals in the orbital elevator.

In this war, which lasted for more than half a year, more than half of the naval ships of Osea
were neutralized, and the army and marines were still in the middle of reorganization. Only the
air force can function to some extent as a fighting force, but the overall strength of the Osean
military has declined considerably.

And this has been spurred on by the reduction of military budget. What is needed after the war is
a reconstruction budget to restore the country to the state it was in before the war, rather than a
military budget to build up the military. The military’s budget was taken up by reconstruction
and its activities were greatly restricted.

This is the reason why Osea was unable to send a large-scale force to Louria. In the first place,
the Lighthouse War had exhausted the nation of Osea itself, and it was even whispered that the
rapidly developing multinational corporations would soon surpass the nation.
At the very least, the multinational corporations have been weakened by the Osea’s transition,
and the Osean Federation, which obtained a large number of resources from Quila, has revived
itself, so the rumors are unfounded.

“But in any case, it will be a problem if the Osean military cannot deploy on a large scale.
Minister of Finance, regarding the large increase in the military budget…”
“…will have to do.”
“Okay, well, let’s talk about the military expansion…”
“…This is a different world. We don’t know what will happen. I’ll give you a budget.”
“That’s good to know.”

The Minister of Finance replied to the President’s words with a reluctant face. He was reluctant
to accept the idea, but he knew that he had no choice but to increase the military budget and
expand the military. After hearing the Finance Minister’s reply, the President changed the
subject.

“What are your plans for Louria?”

“Basically, we will not depose the king, and we will not dismantle the Lourian military. But
other than that, we will allow private companies to enter the country, send political advisors, and
station troops there.”

It’s like colonization. But if they don’t do something like this, the worst that can happen is that
they might come after Osea again. In addition, Louria is an attractive market, so it would be best
to weaken its power but not eliminate it completely.

“By the way… I heard that some countries were supporting Louria behind the scenes in this
war?”
“Yes, according to Qua-Toyne, it seems that a country called the Parpaldia Empire was
providing military support to Louria.”
“Parpaldia… isn’t that a country that looks pretty bad?”

When the State Minister mentioned the name of the Parpaldia Empire, all of the leaders of Osea
frowned in unison. They had already heard the bad rumors about Parpaldia from the information
delivered by Qua-Toyne.

Parpaldia is a major power in this world, located west of Osea. It controls most of the Philades
Continent, having conquered the surrounding 72 countries, and its technological level is
relatively higher than that of its neighbors, at the level of just before the Industrial Revolution.

However, according to information obtained from Qua-Toyne, the Parpaldia Empire has recently
been pursuing a policy of tremendous expansion, sending unreasonable demands to neighboring
countries, and when they rejected, invading them without question and increasing the number of
territories they belong to.

By providing military support to Louria, they have indirectly occupied Qua-Toyne and Quila,
and have been trying to control the Rodenius Continent. However, it seems that this plan was
foiled when Osea unilaterally kicked Louria out of the country.

In addition, Parpaldia is one of the superpowers in this world, and because of this, the pride of its
people is high, and they basically look down on anyone other than the other four powers. The
leaders of Osea were aware of this from the information they had gathered.

“We are already gathering information on this country by all means, including via Qua-Toyne
and air reconnaissance, but it would be best not to get involved with this country.”
“If the worst comes to worst, we might as well assume a war with that country… Chairman of
the General Staff, please think of an operation plan for the war against Parpaldia.”
“Yes, sir!”

The war in Louria was over, but it didn’t seem that Osea would be able to live in peace in this
world yet.

“Minister of State, as much as I don’t want to associate with Parpaldia, are there any other
countries with which you plan to establish diplomatic relations?”
“Based on the information we have received from Qua-Toyne, we will prioritize friendly and
nearby countries, focusing on the neighboring Fenn, Gahara, Sios, and Altaras, and we plan to
make contact with one of the superpowers in the near future.”
“The first time we made contact with Louria, we were turned away, so make sure we don’t
repeat that, okay?”
“I know, sir. I understand, but if it comes to it, I’m willing to go as far as gunboat diplomacy.”

The President thought that they don’t need to go that far.

Note
- Multinational Corporation
General Resource Ltd. is a multinational corporation specializing in heavy industry,
construction, urban development, and electronics, headquartered in the Usean Continent.
The company has been expanding its business through reconstruction and maintenance
projects on the Usean Continent, which was damaged in the asteroid and continental
wars, and has been rapidly gaining strength since the 2010s. In the official history,
General Resource grew to be a huge corporation with a scale that exceeded that of a
nation, but it was weakened when it lost contact with its headquarters due to the transfer
and became only an Osean branch, while the Osean Federation restored its power as a
nation. After the transfer, the Osean branch continues to conduct business as usual in the
other world, and even though it has been weakened, it still has a certain amount of
influence over Osea.

CHAPTER 14: Fenn Kingdom

May 6, 1639 Central Calendar, 18:00

Fenn Kingdom, Capital Amanoki/Royal Castle

Fenn Kingdom. It is a small island nation with a population of 700.000 people, located on a
comma-shaped island between the continents of Osea and Philades. There is no magic in this
country, and instead all the people learn to use swords. The country has a unique culture where
those who have mastered the sword are respected, while the opposite is ridiculed.

In Amanoki, the capital of the country, there is a royal castle called Amanoki Castle. The castle
is made of a combination of wood and stone, and the people of Japan who were supposed to be
summoned to the castle would probably think it looked like Himeji Castle or Osaka Castle.

In the reception room of Amanoki Castle, the diplomatic corps of Osean State Department was
there. The diplomatic corps had been dispatched to Fenn after it was determined that the country
could be used as a base for trade with the Philades Continent.

“There’s something strange about this country, isn’t it?”

“Yeah. I feel like I’m in a North Point historical drama, or a game I played a while back called
Ghosts of Everything.”

The members of the diplomatic corps discussed while waiting in the parlor of Amanoki Castle.
Fenn is a strange country. From the perspective of the Oseans, it is a country with a culture
similar to that of North Point in ancient times, with its Japanese-style wooden architecture and
swords.

“Thank you for your patience. The Sword King is about to enter.”

After a long wait, a man who appeared to be a member of the Sword King’s entourage opened
the sliding door of the reception room where the diplomats were waiting. At the end of the
sliding door, a gray-haired man with a long beard, wearing a simple, inconspicuous kimono,
appeared.
This elderly man was the King of the Fenn Kingdom, Sword King Shihan, and his
swordsmanship is excellent. The diplomats felt that Shihan had some kind of aura or supreme
power.

“Are you the emissaries of Osea?”

The diplomats decided to get right down to business with Shihan.

“Yes, that’s right. We have come from the Osean Federation to negotiate for diplomatic relations
with your country.”
“Thank you for coming all this way. Now, let me ask you straightforwardly, what is that you are
seeking when you say ‘negotiations’?”
“Please refer to this document.”

The diplomat handed Shihan a document written in the lingua franca of the continent, which, if
Shihan believed everything he read in it, seemed to be an irresistible offer for Fenn.

Osea was going to give Fenn almost free money for projects such as port and infrastructure
development. The reason seems to be that Osea wants to make Fenn a major transportation hub.
At the very least, Fenn will benefit from this if it accepts it.

‘Osea… awesome.’

There was also another document about Osea. The document, which also included a photo, was
astonishing even from Shihan’s point of view. According to Osea, they are a nation that has
moved from another world, and they seem to have a national power that exceeds that of the
superpowers.

If you believe all the contents of the document, you can guess that Osea is a nation with a power
that surpasses the superpowers. The paper quality of the document is too fine, and the content of
the document had an extra level of authenticity.

“…Well, I get the gist of it. Your proposal, if it is true, will allow us to establish equal relations
with a country with tremendous national power, which is perfect for our country.”
“Then—”
“No, wait a minute.”

The diplomat tried to proceed, but Shihan interrupted.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know much about your country. I want you to show me your power –
directly – outside of this document.”
“What do you mean?”
“That’s right. It’s still too early for a military festival… since it’s 4 months away.”

Shihan wanted to use the Military Festival to lure the Osean military into the country and see
how powerful they were, but the Military Festival was still a long way off, so he gave up. It’s a
Fenn event, a kind of joint exercise in which militaries from countries outside the civilization
area participate and compete in prowess.

Held every two years, it is an event where the armies of each country show off their best
equipment and soldiers, and improve each other without war. It is also an important event for
each country to show off their military strength and to restrain each other.

A military festival would have been a good way to directly measure the Osean military strength,
but since it was to be held in four months, he had to give up. Shihan wondered how he could
ascertain the power of Osea, and then a thought occurred to him.

“I heard that your country defeated the great army of Louria using flying iron dragons.”
“Iron dragons? Oh, you mean airplanes, right? That’s right, sir. Incidentally, our country has a
very active aviation industry—”
“Then—”

Interrupting the words of the diplomat, Shihan made a proposal.

“I want you to invite it here.”

“Huh?”

The diplomats stiffened, unable to understand the meaning of Shihan’s proposal.

“In short, I would like to have your flying dragon… fly through the skies of Amanoki, and if
possible, I would like to have it fly in combat formation. I want to see it with my own eyes.”

The Osean diplomats were stunned by the proposal. In other words, this man, the King, is asking
them to fly a military aircraft into the skies of his country just because he wants to see the power
of Osea. They would never have listened to such a proposal, at least not before the transfer.

The Osean diplomatic corps was at a loss as to how to respond, so they reported Shihan’s request
directly to the home country via radio, but the country informed the diplomatic corps that they
had accepted Shihan’s proposal, saying that it was inevitable if they wanted to establish
diplomatic relations.
2 hours later, 12:00

Shihan was on the balcony of the royal castle. According to the diplomats, his request to send a
flying iron dragon over Amanoki had been accepted. The Fenn people and even the ambassadors
of the various countries stationed in Fenn had heard the rumors and had gathered at Amanoki.

“Our fighter plane… the flying iron dragon, will be arriving shortly.” One of the members of the
Osean diplomatic corps told Shihan. Shihan’s eyes read his movements and determined that he
was some sort of military officer.

“Which way are the iron dragons coming from, mister Osean emissary?”
“It’s coming from the southeast, so it’ll be in the sky to our left.”
“Hmm, this way, huh.”
“Well, it’s time… the air show will begin.”

Shihan looked at the southeast sky. Three flying objects approached noiselessly from the
southeast, trailing white clouds in a linear pattern. It was only after the objects were very close
that they finally began to make noise, and the high-pitched explosion that cut through the air
shook Shihan’s eardrums.

Shihan stared at the object with his own sharp binoculars as it appeared above Amanoki.

It was as sharp as an arrowhead and had the appearance of a rabid insect. After flying through
the sky at high speed, the three flying objects began to soar. The iron dragon continued its climb,
drew a loop, decided to make a 180-degree turn, and disappeared beyond the blue sky.

The Immelmann Turn is a type of maneuver performed by fighter planes. The three Osean planes
performed a 180-degree loop and 180-degree roll with a sudden climb, and then made a vertical
U-turn.

“Whoa!” Shihan shouted out.

He stared excitedly at the fighters that appeared before him. The three flying objects that flew
over Amanoki were three F/A-18F Super Hornet carrier-based multirole fighter belonging to the
OMDF naval air force.

They belonged to the OMDF’s aircraft carrier, the Vulture, and happened to be training in the
waters near Fenn, but at the request of the government, which had received a request from
Shihan, they immediately conducted an air show over the capital of Fenn, Amanoki.
“So that’s the flying iron dragons!”
“Two of them will be back shortly.”
“They just flew over there and now they’re back!? It’s so fast!”

The two planes returned to the Amanoki sky, this time from the east and west directions, and the
two planes dive down and make a 180-degree turn to cross each other, and just before they
collided with the surface of the sea off Amanoki, they shifted to level flight at a very low altitude
and take off at a low altitude.

This maneuver is called the “Split S” maneuver. It is the opposite of the Immelmann turn, a steep
descent into a vertical U-turn. It was quite a sight for Shihan to see the aircraft that had been
descending rapidly shift to level flight just before it hit the sea.

“Ooh! Not only are they fast, but they also seem to have tremendous maneuverability!”

This time, the three planes formed a formation and, just as they had done earlier with the
Immelmann turn, they soared from a low altitude and made a single turn. The loop maneuver,
which is said to be an aircraft maneuver for elementary aerobatics, was performed by three
aircraft in formation.

The air show was enough to excite Shihan. The Fenn Royal Army’s soldiers had gone pale, but it
was still a spectacle that was enough to excite Shihan, the people gathered in the royal castle, and
the residents of Amanoki.

The three fighters performed all kinds of maneuvers. The people, including Shihan, never got
tired of watching the fighters, which roared like distant thunder and circled each other in a
complicated loop.

“The Osean iron dragon is amazing! I didn’t expect it to be like this, it’s a masterpiece!
Hahahaha!”

While Shihan was excited, his face dyed with joy, Maglev, the chief knight in charge of the
military affairs of the Fenn Kingdom, who was watching the air show with Shihan, was pale and
looked as if he was about to faint and collapse.

He had been to the mighty Parpaldia Empire, and the flying iron dragon of Osea was clearly
superior to that of the Parpaldian wyvern. The Osea must have surpassed the powerful Parpaldia.

Maglev wondered if the appearance of an existence that surpassed the powerful nations would
change the military situation of the surrounding countries in the near future. Maglev’s stomach
churned as he wondered how the country should move forward in the face of the changing
military situation.

Eventually, the air show ended, and the three Super Hornet multirole fighters headed back in the
direction they came from. But even so, the excitement of the people of the Royal Castle and
Amanoki showed no signs of letting up. This includes Shihan, of course.

“My goodness, the Osean people, you’ve shown us something wonderful! I didn’t expect it to be
as good as it was!”
“I am honored by your compliments, sir.”

Shihan spoke to the Osean military officer with a smile of joy on his face. The military officer
was also smiling, probably because he had been praised by someone from another country for his
country’s military show.

“With an iron dragon like that, it seems that your country is indeed quite powerful. It’s decided! I
think I’ll try to have friendly relations with your country, Osea.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Well, if you have iron dragons like that, I’d rather have you sign a security treaty as well,
anyway.”

At a later date, the Osean Federation and Fenn Kingdom officially concluded diplomatic
relations, and discussions were held regarding the future conclusion of a security treaty as well.

Notes
- F/A-18F
Mainstay multirole surface combatant of the OMDF. It is an improved version of the
F/A-18 fighter, which was developed as a light fighter and carrier-based attack aircraft to
supplement the F-14 fighter, which specializes in air defense. It has a heavy armament
capability comparable to that of an attack aircraft, as well as high combat capability in the
low-speed range, making it a very high-performance naval aircraft. Just before the start of
the Lighthouse War, the same aircraft was exported to Erusea via Gründer Industries, so
the F/A-18Fs of OMDF and Erusean Air Force even faced each other. This is the
equivalent of the F/A-18F in the real world.
- Aircraft carrier Vulture
One of the Hubert II-class aircraft carriers belonging to the OMDF. It was first
commissioned in the 2000s as a Hubert-class aircraft carrier, the predecessor to the
Hubert II-class, but was severely damaged by a ballistic attack by the submarine carrier
Scinfaxi shortly after the start of the Circum-Pacific War in 2010. After the war, the ship
underwent drydock repairs and a considerable major refit during which she was
reclassified to the Hubert II-class and returned to the Osean navy, where she participated
in the 2019 Lighthouse War. In the Circum-Pacific War, she was immediately
neutralized, but in the Lighthouse War, she was active in all directions despite losing all
aircraft, and was one of the few Osean carriers to survive the Lighthouse War. She is a
quasi-sister ship to Admiral Andersen, another Osean carrier.

CHAPTER 15: Strange World, Aircraft Graveyard

Altaras Kingdom, Royal Capital Le Brias

The Altaras Kingdom is an island nation located southwest of the Philades Continent. It has a
population of 15 million people, a large number despite being outside the civilized world, and is
rich in magic stone resources. It is a large country outside of the civilized world that has built up
enormous wealth through the export of magic stones, and is comparable to civilized countries in
terms of both national power and population.

Le Brias, the royal capital of Altaras. In this city with a warm climate unique to a tropical
country, there are many round buildings based on a circle. In one of these round buildings, a
certain trading house, unfamiliar figures from another country can be seen.

They were the Osean diplomatic corps that had been dispatched to Altaras as well as the Fenn
Kingdom. They were negotiating with the diplomats of Altaras to open diplomatic relations, just
as they had done in Fenn.

“…So, it looks like we’re done with the trade treaty.”

“Yes. Then let’s talk about the other treaties as well.”

So far, the negotiations were going relatively smoothly. The diplomats on the Altaras side
included Princess Lumies, the country’s princess and diplomat, but her mild-mannered
personality kept the meeting from getting too heated.

While negotiating, Princess Lumies suddenly thought. It seems that the country of Osea is not an
ordinary one. She and the other diplomats on the Altaras side could tell from the information that
the Osean diplomatic corps had provided during these negotiations.

First of all, it was already known from information such as the victory over Louria that Osea was
overwhelmingly more powerful than Altaras, but in spite of this, they demanded negotiations on
an equal footing between countries, unlike the Parpaldia Empire.
Osea’s stance that a powerful country would not look down on another country more than
necessary was a shock to Altaras, who had been accustomed to the arrogant ways of Parpaldia. In
addition, the conditions that they offered in conjunction with the conclusion of diplomatic
relations also shocked the Altaras side.

Osea’s demand was an unbelievable deal: if they were allowed to expand their businesses,
supply their ships, and do other things related to trade, they would expand and dredge the ports
in Altaras and build up the electrical and water infrastructure at a low cost.

Osea wanted to make Altaras a transportation hub like the Fenn, and since Altaras was wealthy
and had purchasing power, Osea was planning a large-scale trade. It seems that Osea is willing to
support its trading partners.

This kind of quid pro quo would only be a joke to a normal country in the Third Civilization.
However, they already know that Osea has the national power to offer such a thing, and it’s not
like they don’t believe them now.

First of all, this negotiation must go well—Lumies concentrated on the meeting.

Later on, the Altaras Kingdom and the Osean Federation established diplomatic relations and
signed a treaty of friendship and trade. At the same time, Osea also sent diplomatic missions to
neighboring countries such as the Sios Kingdom and Topa Kingdom, and opened diplomatic
relations with them on almost the same terms as Altaras.

Needless to say, when Altaras, Sios, and Topa learned of Osea’s national strength, they
demanded the conclusion of a security treaty, just as Sword King Shihan of the Fenn Kingdom
had said. And Osea, too, had begun to think about concluding a security treaty with the
surrounding countries.

A National Research Institute in the Osean Federation/Bana City

“This world is incomprehensible. It’s like some kind of fantasy.”

In a certain national laboratory, a scientist is holding his head in his hands. Anyway, there are a
lot of incomprehensible things in this world. For example, the existence of ‘magic’ in this world.
It is known that magic actually exists in this world.
Also, the races are incomprehensible. There is a wide variety of races in this world, and the
existence of races such as elves, dwarves, and beastmen, which appear in fantasy movies and
novels, has been confirmed.

Elves are long-lived and good at magic, dwarves are short in stature with dexterous hands and
strong arms, and beastmen are physically strong and have animal heads, ears, and tails. There are
also races such as dragonfolk and winged people.

“And it’s not just a fantasy world, it seems…”

This world is indeed a fantasy world, but it is not a perfect fantasy world. For example, there is
news that something was recently found to be stored in Qua-Toyne.

What was stored in Qua-Toyne was a North Point Type Zero Fighter (A6M). They had no idea
why a piston fighter developed by North Point in the previous world was found in Qua-Toyne.

The existence of the Zero fighter was discovered while investigating the “Angels of the Sun
God” from the mythology of this world. In a place called Divine Forest in Qua-Toyne, there is a
magical copy of a divine ship left behind by the Angels of the Sun God.

There is a magical photograph of it. When researchers in Osea looked at the picture provided by
Qua-Toyne, they found that it showed a Zero Model 21 fighter. They’d like to investigate in
detail, but since Divine Forest refuses to allow outsiders to enter, the only thing they have at the
moment is that magical photograph.

However, the Zero fighter has a red circle as its nationality mark, and it is said that it may have
nothing to do with North Point, which developed the Zero fighter. In any case, they can’t know
the details since they can’t investigate the actual object.

“By the way, did you know that we found a country in the west that has had science and
technology since the Industrial Revolution?”

He remembered that the other day, the government had confirmed the existence of a country in
the far west that had the technological level of the 1900s, and had sent a diplomatic mission to
that country. Rumor has it that the country even has airplanes and automobiles.

But what is it about this fantasy-like world that makes it possible to have a country with cars and
airplanes? It seems like a fantasy, but it’s not a perfect fantasy, it’s an extremely strange, real
world.
The government is receiving information about this world one after another through diplomatic
missions and intelligence officers dispatched to various countries and via Qua-Toyne, but at the
same time, the more information they gather, the more confused they become about what kind of
world this world really is.

“This world is completely incomprehensible.”

In addition to magic and races, there were many other things that he didn’t understand, such why
the Osean language was understood by the inhabitants of this world, why units such as the metric
system existed in this world, and why Osea had moved to this world.

It’s a strange world indeed, the scientist thought. There’s still a lot to find out.

Osean Federation, Solo Island

Solo Island is a small island northwest of Osea. Most of the island is made up of volcanic
escarpments and canyons. Military facilities were once built on the plains, but the powerful
geomagnetic disturbances caused by volcanic activity caused the military facilities to be
abandoned.

Abandoned military facilities are now being used as aircraft graveyards. These are mainly
military aircraft that have been damaged or have reached the end of their service life, or aircraft
that have been decommissioned due to disarmament or other reasons, and are stored in mothballs
or left to rot.

“All right! All right!”

“Careful with that plane. We’ll restore it and have it redeployed.”

However, on this day, the military aircraft stored in the scrapyard were pulled out and loaded one
after another onto a transport ship anchored in a small harbor on the island. The aircraft, which
were supposed to be discarded, were given jobs again.

The other day, the decision was made to increase the military budget at the will of the Osean
leadership, and to expand the Osean military. This was done in order to recover the forces lost
during the Lighthouse War, and to prepare the forces to survive in this world after the transition.
In the process, planes that had been lying in scrapyard were also woken up. The decision was
made to increase the number of fighters, bombers, and attack planes, but it would take some time
to produce them in sufficient numbers.

Therefore, the OADF decided to pull out good condition aircraft stored in scrapyards and recycle
them for deployment. Even though they were used, they could be deployed faster than
production and at a lower cost.

“There are a lot of fighters and bombers… that’s an F-14 over there, and that’s a disassembled
B-52 over there. You’re taking all of these?”
“Look over there, too. They even pulled out the Phantom II. They’re going to use anything they
can get their hands on.”
“Is that a B-2 over there…? They even stored that thing?”

The workers engaged in loading the stored aircraft onto the transport ship, some of whom were
familiar with military aircraft, were amazed at the variety of aircraft that had been pulled out. It
seemed like they were going to take all the aircraft that were here.

Almost all the planes that had been placed in the scrapyard, from the newer F-22A Raptor to the
older F-4E Phantom II, were taken (relatively newer planes like the F-22A were decommissioned
and put into storage due to the disarmament with Yuktobania after the Circum-Pacific War).

The same aircraft were being pulled out of the scrapyard in the desert to the west, and OADF and
OMDF persisted in pulling them out regardless of whether they were used aircraft or not, and
trying to set up an air force right away.

“Hmm? Is that…”

There were some oddities among the aircraft, and one of the workers noticed them.

“…Morgan?”

ADFX-01 Morgan. It was a forward-swept canard-type multirole fighter developed by the South
Belka Munitions Factory of the Principality of Belka, which was seized from Belka by the
Oseans after the Belkan War of 1995 and stored in the OADF after technical verification.

When the workers found the Morgan being carried away, they were both impressed and
disturbed by the determination of the OADF to recreate and use such a thing. The Osean military
wanted all the power they could get.
- Type Zero Fighter Model 21
A piston carrier-based fighter developed by North Point in the 1940s, known by its
nickname, Zero. At the time, North Point was at war with Yuktobania across the sea, and
this aircraft was a type of military aircraft that was deployed in the war. As fleet battles
between the two countries often took place in the Eusian Ocean (both North Point and
Yuktobania were fleet battle supremacists), a fighter that could be operated from an
aircraft carrier at sea was needed. As a result, the Zero fighter was born as an aircraft
with overwhelming combat capability with an emphasis on long range capability and
mobility. The Model 21 was one of the variations of the Zero fighter. When this type was
in operation as the main force, the Zero fighter showed unparalleled strength against the
Yuktobanian military fighters.
- ADFX-01 Morgan
An all-weather multirole fighter developed and tested by the South Belka Munitions
Factory of the Principality of Belka (later known as North Osea Gründer Industries). It is
the ultimate 4th generation jet fighter. It is capable of operating a number of special
weapons, such as the TLS (tactical laser system), MPBM (multi-purpose burst missile),
and built-in ECM pods, making it a high-performance aircraft that far surpasses existing
fighters. Including its sister ADFX-02, there are only two Morgans in service, and even
during the Belkan War, official records indicate that both aircraft were not put into
service in time. After the Belkan War, the ADFX-01 was recovered by the Allied Forces,
and after various tests in Osea, it was stored in mothballs except for occasional flying
ceremonies.

CHAPTER 16: Mu, Mechanical Civilization Country – Part 1

June 10, 1639 Central Calendar, 10:30

Mu, Mykal City/Ainank Airport

The mechanical civilization nation of Mu is the strongest nation in the Second Civilization Area
and the second largest power in the world. Although it is a perpetually neutral country, it is a
major power that controls the Second Civilization Area, and is one of the most powerful
countries in the world after the Holy Milishial Empire, which is considered the strongest in the
world.

On this day, Myrus, a technical officer of Mu, received a sudden call from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. He was summoned to Ainank Airport, a civilian airport with an air force base
attached. This is one of the few large airports in the world that has regular international flights.

‘How could the Foreign Ministry call a technical officer all the way to the airport?’
In the airport waiting room, Myrus pondered the reason why he was called. He didn’t understand
why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would call a technical officer to the airport. In the first
place, it was unusual for a military officer to be called to the Foreign Ministry, so he had no idea
why.

Myrus pondered for a while, but then his thoughts were interrupted when the door to the waiting
room was opened. There were three men in the waiting room: Myrus’s boss and two men in
diplomatic uniforms. The latter was probably from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Myrus… Mr. diplomat, this is technical officer Myrus.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Myrus, a technical officer.”

Introduced by his superior, Myrus smiled warily and greeted the people from the Foreign
Ministry. The four of them sat down on a sofa in the waiting room, and one of the people from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – probably a diplomat – began to speak.

“Now, I’d like to ask you to do something… To put it simply, we’d like you to find out the
technological level of an unidentified country.”
“Unidentified country, you mean…?”

Myrus thinks of a country that might come to mind, but he has no idea. Incidentally, the Gra
Valkas Empire became famous all over the world after they destroyed the powerful Leifor with a
single battleship and turned it into their own colony four months later.

“…I’m sorry, but I don’t have much of an idea what that might be.”
“I see. Today, a gray ship appeared on the eastern coast. The navy inspected it and found that it
belonged to a country called the Osean Federation, with its ambassador on board. Does the name
of the country mean anything to you?”

Myrus had an idea about the name of the country.

“Osea… The only thing I know is that it is a country that defeated the Louria Kingdom in three
days, which was said to be on par with the great powers in terms of populaton.”
“I see. The ambassador of Osea wants to negotiate the opening of diplomatic relations with our
country. It’s a common story so far…”

The next words that came out of the diplomat’s mouth startled Myrus.

“The problem is the ship they came on. Their ship is not a sailing vessel.”
“No way…”
“And there was no response on the magic detector either. If it’s not a magic ship, then it’s
probably a mechanically powered ship.”
“What… this is a surprise, there are other nations with mechanically powered ships besides us?”
“But there’s more to it than that. In order to show our technological superiority, we designated
this airport as the meeting place, and they got permission to fly in and flew in flying machines.”
“Huh…!? Are you sure?”

Myrus was astonished. At any rate, flying machines were something that only Mu was
manufacturing and developing. At the very least, the operation of flying machines requires a
certain level of technology, which means that Osea has a very high level of technology.

“Yes, judging from their ships and flying machines, they seem to be a force to be reckoned with.
I would like to ask you a favor.”
“What is it?”
“The meeting will take place in a week, and I would like you to show them our technology and
find out about theirs by showing them around the country.”
“I see… I understand. I’ll do it.”
“Please. Oh, yeah. I have some photos of the flying machine and the mechanically powered ship,
would you like to see them?”

The diplomat handed Myrus two photos, which Myrus did not recognize, showing the
Andromeda, a communications and intelligence ship of the OMDF, and an H-9 helicopter. The
helicopter was a rotorcraft.

He could at least that the helicopter was a kind of rotary wing aircraft, but Myrus could not
understand what kind of ship the Andromeda was. It looks like a warship, but it’s not well armed,
and for some reason it has a lot of what looks like communication antennas attached to it.

Myrus observes a picture of the ship that doesn’t seem to exist in Mu, but in the end, he decided
that it’s impossible to determine the Andromeda’s performance from that picture alone and gives
up. They all dismissed to get back to their own work.

Five minutes later

Airport Gues Reception Room

Myrus opened the door to the guest reception room of the airport where the Osean ambassador
was waiting. Two men and a woman were sitting on a sofa in the room, and they stood up to
greet each other as Myrus entered.
“Hello. My name is Myrus, and I will be introducing you to Mu for a week before the meeting
takes place.”
“I’m Sinclair, an Osean diplomat. I’m very pleased to be able to be introduced to Mu by you.
This is my aide, Scott.”

They greeted each other and shook hands. Myrus was surprised by the other’s calm demeanor
and polite language, which he could not believe for a person from outside of civilization, and at
the same time he wondered if the ambassador of Osea, who introduced herself as Sinclair, was a
woman, he thought to himself.

“I’m sure you’re tired after your long trip, so I’ll start showing you around tomorrow. Today, I’ll
show you around this airport and then take you to your hotel.”

Myrus led the three of them out of the waiting room and headed for the Air Force hangar at
Ainank Airport. As they entered the hangar, they saw several biplanes parked there with the
emblem of the Mu Air Force painted on them. Myrus began to explain to them.

“This is our newest combat flying machine, the Marin. It has a top speed of 380 km/h, which is
faster than the wyvern, and it has two machine guns in the front – two guns that can fire
continuously. It is less expensive to operate than the wyvern because it is not a living organism,
and its air combat capability is superior to that of the wyvern. We are the only nation to have
developed and operate it independently.”

Myrus decided to test Osea’s technological capabilities by showing them his latest country’s
latest product and seeing their reaction. While explaining Marin, he looked at the Oseans and
saw that they were both looking at Marin and letting out an impressed, “Wow.”

“It’s completely homemade… Even so, I’ve never seen a biplane fighter in service before. I
think it’s about the same generation as the Belkan fighters right after the Osean War, right?”
“Well, the Osean War was a hundred years ago, wasn’t it?”
“That was 112 years ago. The war ended in 1910.”

Myrus felt uncomfortable with the conversation between Ambassador Sinclair and his aide,
Scott, he thought his name was. From the content of the conversation, Myrus guessed that the
Oseans knew about fighter planes.

But it sounded to him as if they were talking about Marin as a fighter that was over 100 years old
and of the same generation. Is it possible that the Oseans have a fighter plane that can replace
Mu’s latest fighter plane as if it were 100 years old?
And there’s something that still bothers him. From the conversation between the two of them
earlier, it seems that a war called the ‘Osean War’ took place more than 100 years ago, but they
said the war ended in 1910. This year is 1639 Central Calendar. Myrus took the liberty of asking
a variety of questions.

“Excuse me, but what exactly is the Osean War?”

“Eh? Ah, the Osean War was fought 112 years ago between our country and the neighboring
Principality of Belka. It is said that it was the first war in which aircraft were recognized as a
force to be reckoned with.”

The Osean War.

In 1905, a five-year war broke out between the Osean Federation and the Principality of Belka,
two countries that were competing for military and territorial expansion, one of several wars that
had raged between the two countries prior to the Belkan War, which took place 27 years ago in
1995.

It is also known as the first war in which mankind realized that aircraft could be a force to be
reckoned with, when Franklin Gernitz, a special colonel in the Belkan Air Force, saw the
bombing potential of aircraft that had initially been deployed for reconnaissance missions.

After this war, countries around the world established their air forces and began to expand their
air power under the slogan, “He who controls the sky controls the ground.” Of course, the
countries of the world here refer to the countries that existed in the world before transition of
Osea.

“Wow, 112 years ago… yeah?”

Myrus felt uncomfortable. From what the aide Scott had told him, Osea had deployed flying
machines in that war 112 years ago. But Mu didn’t have flying machines 112 years ago. Don’t
tell me that Osea has surpassed Mu in the field of aviation?

‘Is Osea developing flying machines decades ahead of our country? No, no way… Let’s ask them
something else anyway.’

Myrus decided to ask the Oseans something else as well.

“Are you saying that aircraft are a force to be reckoned with, because Osea has fighter planes?”
“Yes, of course we do.”
Scott answered Myrus’ question. It seems that they do have fighter planes. Myrus decided to
probe a little further.

“Um… what exactly are the different types?”

“Well… there’s the Eagle, Falcon, Hornet, Tomcat, Raptor, Lightning, Sukhoi, MiG, Phantom,
Tiger, Typhoon, Rafale, Gripen, and even the Wyvern… Ah, there are so many types of fighters
that I can’t count them on the fingers of both hands.”
“There are so many?”

Aide Scott folded his fingers and muttered what seemed to be the names of the fighters, but
eventually gave up counting. Even Mu only operates about three types of fighters, including the
Marin, but it seems that Osea operates twice that many.

The more types of aircraft there are, the more inconvenient it becomes in terms of maintenance
and so on, but why is Osea doing such an inefficient thing? In addition, the name of the wyvern
was mentioned earlier, but is it possible that Osea is operating fighter planes and wyverns at the
same time?

“Isn’t it difficult to maintain and operate the aircraft if there are too many different types?”
“No, not really, because even though we have a lot of types, we have standardized maintenance
parts, from large engines to small screws.”

I wonder if that’s the case, Myrus thought as he listened to Scott’s explanation. Myrus finally
asked about the speed that the Osean fighters were capable of. Speed is important for fighters.

“By the way, how fast can the Osean fighters go?”
“The speed… is about Mach 2 for all of them. I think the fastest ones can do Mach 3.”

At first, Myrus did not understand what Scott was talking about.

‘Mach… are you talking about the speed of sound? Osea’s planes can fly faster than sound!?’

Myrus was taken aback by the flippant comment that came out of Scott’s mouth. It could have
been a joke because it was said so lightly, but Myrus realized that it was time to find out the
truth.

“T-then… I’d like to see your fighter planes at least once, by all means. So, let’s call it a day and
move to the hotel.”

Myrus led the group out of the airport. Outside, Mu’s pride and joy was waiting for them, but
they got into it without any surprise. Myrus told them that there were a lot of cars in Osea.
As they talked about their home countries in the car, the group arrived at a luxury hotel in Mu.
Myrus promised to take them on a tour of some of Mu’s history and navy the next day, and saw
them off as they entered the hotel lobby.

After Myrus saw them off, he thought that Mu might be losing a lot of ground to Osea in the
field of aviation. And he’s still wondering about the end of the Osean War in ‘1910’. Myrus
decided that he would explore more about them in tomorrow’s guided tour.

Notes
- Communications and Intelligence Ship Andromeda
An intelligence gathering ship belonged to the OMDF. Initially built as one of the
Raleigh-class dock landing ships, it was later converted into a communications
intelligence ship to perform communications interception missions. Armed with two 76
mm guns for self-defense, two 20 mm CIWS, various types of radar, sonar, various
communication equipment, and electronic warfare equipment. She also participated in the
Circum-Pacific War in 2010, and played an active role in the carrier Kestrel’s fleet, living
up to her name as an intelligence ship, detecting terrorist activities including plans to leak
nuclear weapons by intercepting communications. As of 2022, the Andromeda is quite
old, but it was judged that the high-performance communications equipment it carries can
be used to communicate between Mu and the Osean mainland, which is tens of thousands
of kilometers away, and it was chosen as the ship to dispatch a diplomatic mission to Mu.
When Myrus saw a picture of this ship, he later said, “When I first saw it, it looked like a
warship, but it had a huge hull like a battleship with only small-caliber guns, and instead
of a large-caliber guns, it had only communication antennas.” It is very similar to the
Raleigh-class dock landing ship in the real world.

CHAPTER 17: Mu, Mechanical Civilization Country – Part 2

Next day, 09:30

Mu, Suburb of Mykal/Historical Museum

The next day, Myrus took the two Osean envoys to the Mu Historical Museum. The museum was
state-run, and as such it was a large building. Before showing them around the large museum,
Myrus gave them a brief explanation of Mu’s history.

“I’ll give you a brief history of our country. First of all, you may not believe this, but our
ancestors were not originally inhabitants of this planet.”
““What?””
The two of them were stunned by Myrus’s explanation. Anyone would have reacted the same
way if someone suddenly started talking like that. But for Myrus, it was a scene he had often
seen whenever he explained the history of Mu to people from other countries.

“The time was 12.000 years ago, when the entire Mu Continent was transferred to this world.
This phenomenon is officially recorded by the then monarchy of Mu.”

Myrus took out a blue sphere-shaped object brought by the museum staff. It was a spherical map
called a globe, representing the surface of the previous world. When Myrus took it out,
Ambassador Sinclair and her aide Scott looked at it intently.

“This is a model of the planet of the previous world. We call this world ‘Earth’.”
“This is…!!”

The Oseans were observing the globe, mumbling something like “No way” or “No, maybe…”.
There are many people in this world who don’t know that planets are spherical, and they are
often surprised to find out.

Myrus decided that the two of them were probably surprised for the same reason. He hadn’t
expected such a bite, though. At any rate, he decided to use it to continue his explanation of the
Mu’s history.

“As you can see, Earth is a round planet, and this was the world where Mu once existed. By the
way, our country’s position in the previous world is…”

However, when Myrus tried to point out the location of the continent where Mu used to exist, the
two Oseans, who had been looking around the globe with great interest as if they were
distraught, suddenly left the globe, as if they had realized something.

“Hmmm, this is not the world we were in.”

“Looks like it…”
“Yes?”

If the Japanese people were to look at this globe, for example, they would judge it as the Earth.
However, for the Oseans, the globe had none of the continents of Usea, Osea, Anea, or Verusa,
and in short, it was not the world they were originally from.

The Oseans had a faint hope that the world on this globe might be the one they used to live in,
but they were wrong. Of course, Myrus didn’t know what was going on with the Oseans, so he
didn’t know.
“I’m sorry, but this is my story. You can continue with your explanation.”
“Y-yes. I’ll continue.”

While wondering about the sudden change in reaction of the two, Myrus began to explain the
history of the continent, pointing to the location of the Mu Continent on the globe. Incidentally,
the location of the Mu Continent is the same as the location of the ancient civilization of Mu that
appears in urban legends of Earth.

Before the shift, Mu had built a highly developed civilization and was enjoying prosperity with
the entire continent as its territory. At that time, the world was divided into two parts by a great
power called Atlantis, which was the same as theirs.

However, 12.000 years ago, the entire country moved to this world, and the civilization that had
been built in Mu collapsed due to lack of resources, natural disasters, and invasions by
surrounding magical civilizations and pirates. The inhabitants were driven to the northeast of the
continent. From there, Mu restarted a mechanical civilization.

In the beginning, the mechanical civilization was inferior to the magical civilization and
experienced friction with the neighboring countries that invaded the Mu Continent, but
nevertheless, Mu developed its civilization and walked the path of coexistence and co-prosperity
with the neighboring countries, and finally reached the second largest national power in the
world.

“What… that’s a lot of hardships you’ve gone through.” Ambassador Sinclair opened her mouth,
shocked. Aide Scott, who was listening to the explanation with her, had the same reaction as she
did.

“Everything I just said is official record. People from other countries don’t often believe us, but I
hope you do.”
“Yes, of course. After all, we’ve been through the same thing as you.”
“Huh?”

Myrus is puzzled by the words that come out of Ambassador Sinclair’s mouth. Ambassador
Sinclair pulled out a large piece of paper from the bag that Scott had been carrying. It was a map,
but it was a continental layout that Myrus had never seen before.

“Could you take a look at this, please?”

“Is this…?”
“This is a map of the world we used to be in.”
“Former world?”
A Mercator map of the world that Osea used to live in was spread out on a table in the museum,
and Myrus looked at it. The museum staff, who had been listening to the conversation between
the Oseans and Myrus, came over and began to peer at it.

“If you can understand what I mean… we are also a transfer nation that came from another
world.”
“What!?”

Myrus and the museum staff were shocked by the confession that came out of Ambassador
Sinclair’s mouth.

“A few months ago, Osea suddenly arrived in this world. We don’t know why, but until recently
we were in another world.”
“It’s not possible… Now that you mention it, it makes sense that a country that never existed
before would suddenly appear outside of civilization…”

Could it be that the reason why a country with flying machines that can fly faster than sound and
a large country that can defeat Louria in three days, a country whose population alone is
comparable to that of the world’s great powers, suddenly appeared was because it was a country
that had been transferred from another world? That certainly makes sense, though.

If that’s the case, then the Oseans’ earlier statement that the Osean War ended in 1910 must be
the calendar of their previous world, not the Central Calendar. Myrus was convinced of many
things, but it was still an unbelievable event.

In the first place, Mu had transferred 10.000 years ago, so long ago that no one remembered it
except in the literature, and Myrus himself was somewhat unaware of the fact that his country
was a transfer nation, so it couldn’t be helped.

“I didn’t think such a thing would happen… to be honest. If we are the same transition nation, I
personally would love to be friends with you guys.”
“I hope we will be, too.”

Same day, 10:50

Mu, Mykal City/On the highway/In a car
After a quick tour of the museum, the group left in a car that had been waiting for them at the
entrance of the museum. Their next destination was the naval base. Myrus was burning with a
sense of mission to show the pride of Mu, the second largest navy in the world.

‘Apparently, we’re losing in the air to Osea, but there’s still a chance for Mu to win.’

The other day he was informed by Scott that Osean fighters can fly faster than sound. That
means that Mu is losing in aviation technology. They may have lost in aviation, but that doesn’t
mean that Mu has been completely defeated.

Myrus remembered the picture of the Andromeda, the intelligence ship of the Osean mission.
That ship had only small-caliber guns and what looked like communication antennas, and
compared to that, Mu’s new battleship with 30,5 cm guns looked far more powerful.

This time, he felt confident enough to introduce it.

Same day, 11:10

Mu, Mykal City/Mykal Naval Base

Eventually, they arrived at the naval base, and after getting out of the car, the group moved
through the military port. On the quayside of the naval port, there were many Mu navy ships,
including aircraft carriers and cruisers, anchored. One of them was a battleship with a huge 30,5
cm gun proudly raised above its top.

“Please take a look. The one docked there is our latest battleship, the La Kasami.”

Myrus pointed to the Mu Navy’s newest battleship, the La Kasami, which was docked in a
corner of the port. The battleship La Kasami is a 15.000-ton hull with two 30,5 cm guns and four
guns, and is classified as a pre-dreadnought battleship.

“Ooh, a battleship! I really like battleship! They’re so romantic!”

“Yes, it is.”

Aide Scott began to get excited. Ambassador Sinclair, on the other hand, seems uninterested. The
ambassador, for her part (which is rather normal, since many women are indifferent to military
matters), seems to understand the romance of battleships, perhaps even the Oseans.
That’s when Myrus realized. If they understand the romance of battleships, it means that Osea
know about battleships too. If they know about them, they might have battleships. Myrus
decided to find out if there were any battleships in Osea.

“Do they have battleships in Osea?”

“Oh, yes. Our country used to have a large number of battleships.”

The question was answered by Scott. He had noticed that he seemed to be a specialist in this kind
of thing.

“Once, huh? So you don’t have it now?”

“It’s not that we don’t have any, but most of our battleships were sold, dismantled or put into
storage many years ago because they didn’t fit the current philosophy of the Osean military.
Only a few are still in service.”

As Scott said, the Osean Maritime Defense Force used to have a large number of battleships,
such as the Iowa-class, but now most of them are no longer in the country, and of those that are,
half are mothballed and turned into reserve ships.

Battleships used to reign as the mainstay of the fleet due to the offensive power of their powerful
large caliber guns and the defensive power of their heavy armor, but in the modern age of missile
attacks, aircraft can easily sink battleships, and they have been ousted from their position as the
mainstay.

Only the same battleships with huge guns that could smash through the thick armor could defeat
them. But now, when a few fighters can sink a battleship, the battleship is no longer needed and
the carrier has become the mainstay of the fleet.

This has accelerated especially when there have been cases of fighters sinking battleships in
actual combat.

For example, two battleships were sunk by a fighter in the Continental War from 2003, and
battleships were sunk by air attacks in the Circum-Pacific War in 2010, Emmeria-Estovakia War
in 2016, and the Aurelian War in 2020. Even more if battlecruisers are included.

At the very least, battleships were completely unnecessary in modern warfare.

As such, battleships were branded as obsolete and banished from the OMDF. As a result, many
of the battleships built by Osea were retired from service one after another, and were either sold,
dismantled, or mothballed. Only a few of them are still in service, though.
‘Does this mean that Osea has gotten rid of most of the main ships in the fleet? This doesn’t
seem to be much of an asset in a naval battle…’

Of course, Myrus didn’t know about such a situation, so he had such an impression of the Osean
navy that abandoned the battleships. In Mu, at least, there is no precedent for aircraft sinking
battleships in actual combat, so it is common knowledge that the only thing that can sink a
battleship is another battleship.

“This world is a world of the weak and the strong. If a country doesn’t have a powerful ship, it
will basically be nabbed, but doesn’t Osea build new battleships?”
“Well, I don’t know. Since a lot of aircraft carriers were sunk in the previous war, the current
navy of Osea is building aircraft carriers as a priority. I think battleships are not a priority.”

Myrus thought about Scott’s reply.

‘Aircraft carriers rather than battleships? Why is Osea trying to prioritize the maintenance of
the fleet’s auxiliary ships while pushing away the fleet’s main ship, the battleship? …I’m getting
more and more confused.’

According to Myrus’s – Mu’s – common sense, it is impossible for a carrier or aircraft to sink a
battleship. Aircraft carriers are merely auxiliary ships that support the actions of battleships. He
would later realize the error in his perception, but that’s another story.

It was just that his common sense was so different from Osea’s.

A week later, after Myrus had finished guiding the tour, he sent a report to the Mu leaders. The
information that Osea’s fighters were faster than the speed of sound and that Osea was a transfer
nation like Mu had caused no small amount of confusion among the Mu leaders.

However, there was no reason to refuse, as Osea was not hostile, but rather friendly in terms of
economy. Also, due to the possibility of the entrance of Osea’s science and technology into Mu,
Mu decided to establish diplomatic relations with the Osean Federation.

CHAPTER 18: Launch, Handling the Imperials

June 24, 1639 Central Calendar, 18:30

Quila Kingdom, Royal Capital Barrat

Quila Kingdom.
In the past, this country was nothing but a poor nation with barren land. Looking around the
country, there is hardly any greenery, and there are few rivers, lakes, and ponds, so people are
thirsty for water. The dry wind blew and only the desert spread. This was the Quila Kingdom.

There is no agriculture or forestry in this desert country, and there are no commodities. There is
no such thing as water in the desert, and the only thing that comes out of the ground are burning
stones that have little use, and burning black water that is completely useless.

There is almost nothing that Quila can export to other countries, and most of the people are so
poor that they don’t even know if they will be able to survive tomorrow, so they have no choice
but to go to the neighboring country of Qua-Toyne, which is rich and green, to work.

The Quila Kingdom itself is also lacking in wealth, so it earns foreign currency by dispatching
personnel in national scale and mercenary work in other countries, and imports food from Qua-
Toyne to make ends meet. Quila is a poor country that could be destroyed at any time.

“This country has also changed…”

Metsal, a nobleman of the Quila Kingdom, muttered as he looked at the capital of his country
that had changed in a short period of time. Quila was once known as a poor country, but that
changed in the blink of an eye after Quila started interacting with the Osean Federation.

Quila’s first contact with Osea was when Osea sought to negotiate the diplomatic relations
through the intermediary of its neighboring country, Qua-Toyne. The Osean diplomatic corps
found burning water and burning stones overflowing in the Quila desert.

When the Osean diplomats found the water and stones, they turned their attention to them and
urged Quila to export them to their country. In exchange for the export, they would offer a
terrifying amount of money in return, and they would even expand the port and build
infrastructure for the export.

From Quila’s point of view, they couldn’t understand Osea’s insistence on something that was
nothing but garbage, but they agreed to Osea’s proposal because the garbage would turn into
money and they would also be able to develop the country. Then Quila’s change began.

“I can’t believe that a country can become so wealthy just be selling something that is just
garbage to us… I still can’t believe it.”

Incredible amounts of Osean currency, along with Osean people, goods, and culture, quickly
entered Quila after the export of burning stone and burning water – coal and oil, it was later
discovered – began.
The King and the government of Quila were astonished at the large amount of foreign currency
that was given in exchange for the trash, and decided to import more infrastructure from Osea to
change the poor land. They also started to trade with Osea using the foreign currency.

Rapidly, infrastructure such as ports, railroads, roads, waterworks, transmission towers, and
pipelines were built, and industrial products made in Osea such as automobiles and home
appliances came into Quila one after another, rapidly improving the living standard in Quila,
which had been called a poor country.

The Quila Kingdom was changed in the blink of an eye by the interaction with the Osean
Federation. But that was by no means the story of Quila alone. Of course, Quila was not the only
country that Osea made contact with, and the countries that benefited from it were no different.

In addition to the Qua-Toyne Principality, which was the first contact, the Quila Kingdom, which
was the next, and the Louria Kingdom, with which they established diplomatic relations after the
war, Osea established diplomatic relations with Fenn, Gahara, Altaras, Sios, Awan, Topa, Mu,
and many others.

Like Quila, those countries that have established diplomatic relations with Osea are also rapidly
changing their way of life due to the infrastructure development projects led by the Osean
government and the influx of products exported by private companies.

“We must continue to work well with them.”

Metsal is the nobleman in charge of diplomacy in Quila. Inevitably, he would be the one to
negotiate directly with Osea, and he was determined to interact well with Osea, who had quickly
made this formerly poor country of Quila rich.

June 25, 1639 Central Calendar, 14:10

Osean Federation, Basset International Space Center

Basset International Space Center is an international space station built under a joint plan
between the two superpowers of the Osean Federation and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics.
It was a facility that was built by a pacifist president over a decade ago with the reduced military
budget.
At the base, there is a 12 km-long single-stage shuttle (SSTO) mass driver for launch. It is an
electromagnetic catapult for launching spaceships, and the huge injection bridge stretching
diagonally into the air is said to be a bridge to space.

“20 seconds.”
“SSTO, prepare to launch.”

At the beginning of the mass driver, a space plane was waiting. Inside it were several satellites,
including a reconnaissance satellite and a communications satellite, the purpose of which was to
insert satellites into the planet’s orbit in order to expand the space in which Osea could operate.

“10 seconds to liftoff—5, 4, 3, 2, 1, zero! Liftoff!”

“Liftoff!”

The space plane began to accelerate slowly. The mass driver gradually increases its speed, and it
soon enters supersonic speed, surpassing all aircraft on the ground by the time it reaches the end.
When it reached the end, its speed reached the first space speed.

Having climbed the bridge to space at super high speed, the space plane continued its ascent into
space. The space plane quickly moved away from the ground, becoming smaller and smaller
until it was completely invisible from the ground.

“Status check. SSTO, all systems good.”

“SSTO is climbing steadily. Congratulations, gentlemen!”

The control center at Basset Space Center erupted with cheers from the operators. The launch of
the first space plane after the transfer was successful without any problems. After that, the space
plane reached the planet’s satellite orbit without any problems and put the satellite safely into
orbit.

After this, Osea planned to put more satellites into space, including GPS satellites and weather
satellites. Satellites are indispensable in the modern world, and therefore, it was necessary for
Osea to launch a large number of satellites.

June 27, 1639 Central Calendar, 12:00

Bright Hill, Osean Presidential Palace/Oured

“Absolutely fine, so far.”

The Osean President was contentedly looking over the reports that had been delivered from
various quarters. It’s been almost half a year since the transition of the Osean Federation, and so
far the country’s actions in this world have been relatively smooth.

The recent launch of a satellite at the Basset International Space Center was a success, and there
are plans to launch a large number of satellites in the future, both public and private. According
to the Osean National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the GPS network will be ready in
two months.

In terms of diplomacy, Osea is expanding its relations with other countries in the world. They
have already established diplomatic relations with thirty countries in the surrounding area, and
have begun to trade with them, and the Osean economy, which had been unstable after the
transition, is slowly but surely rising.

In this world, many things can be sold. From daily necessities, furniture, processed foods,
medicines, arts and crafts, to automobiles, machine tools, infrastructure, industrial products, and
buildings, foreign currency can be obtained from all over the world by taking advantage of the
technological gap.

Of course, the 30 countries mentioned above do not include the Empire, as they have expanded
their diplomatic relations by avoiding the Parpaldia Empire, which is considered dangerous to be
involved with. That’s how dangerous the Empire is perceived by the Osean government.

“And then there is the matter of the Parpaldia Empire…”

The President is struggling with how to deal with Parpaldia. It has a population of 70 million and
a strong economy, which makes it an attractive market. But the country has too much pride to
hinder that, and its expansionist policies are very disturbing.

Information obtained from the countries with which they have diplomatic relations, as well as
reports from spies and agents of the OIA (Osean Intelligence Agency) sent to the Parpaldian
mainland, have revealed more about the danger.

One thing they have learned is that only superpowers recognized by the Empire as an equal, and
its citizens have extraterritorial rights over other countries. Since Osea is also an outside
civilization country, it will be required to have extraterritoriality if it establishes diplomatic
relations with Osea.

It was thought that they could use gunboat diplomacy to show their power and establish
diplomatic relations, but this was rejected because the Parpaldian people and leadership’s pride
was so pessimistic that they would not accept the fact that the Empire was inferior to a country
outside the civilized world.

“Can’t we just destroy that country…?” The President muttered something radical.

Although they have only gathered a small amount of information about the imperial military, the
Osean Defense Force will probably be able to defeat the Parpaldian army. No, it can be said that
they will not lose.

Although the Osean military expansion—recovery of its strength—has just begun and is still in
its infancy, it is still considerably stronger than it was during the war with Louria due to the
addition of a substantial defense budget.

But Osea has no good reason to start a war. If it suddenly attacked the Empire because it was in
the way, it would completely lose its credibility as it still had little connection with the countries
of this world. They can’t do that.

“I’d be able to handle it if they’d set me off from there.”

If the Parpaldian forces attacked Osea instead of them, they could repel the Parpaldians in the
name of defending the land, and launch a counter-invasion of the Parpaldian mainland in the
name of securing future security or making them pay for the war.

He could use the agents he had hidden in the Empire to force the Empire to launch a counter-
invasion. Osea would then repel them and strike back at the Empire. It would be a complete
monkey show, but in this way, it would be easy to invade Parpaldia.

It seems that the Empire has been making unreasonable demands of the surrounding countries in
the Third Civilization Area, and it would be great if they could sell their favors to the
surrounding countries while invading. It would be a good idea to conclude a security treaty with
the surrounding countries first, and then invade them as reinforcements when they are invaded.

However, the current policy is being adopted to avoid Parpaldia, and it would be a complete
fallacy if they let the Empire initiate the war. A reverse invasion would be sufficient when the
Empire launches a war, so there would be no need to make Parpaldia start a war.

“I guess we’ll just have to ignore Parpaldia for now.”

There is no need to bother with a country that does not need to be involved. If the empire
launches a war, then so be it. The President came to such a decision. But he doesn’t believe that
such a situation will come anytime soon.
CHAPTER 19: Rage of Kaios

June 30, 1639 Central Calendar, 18:00

Qua-Toyne Principality, Maihark

It’s an international conference where the ambassadors of outside civilization countries in the
eastern part of the Third Civilization Area gathered. It is held irregularly whenever there is a
major event in the vicinity of the Third Civilization Area.

Since the conference was originally proposed by non-civilized countries, civilized countries do
not participate. Therefore, despite the fact that it was an international conference, the
representatives of each country were able to openly share their true feelings with each other.

“The meeting will now begin. Today’s meeting is to seek each country’s perception of the
recently emerged nation, the Osean Federation.”

Rinsui, the foreign minister of the Qua-Toyne Principality, the facilitator of this meeting,
announced the opening of the meeting and its contents. The main focus of this meeting will be on
the mysterious new country, the Osean Federation, which suddenly appeared a few months ago
and is gaining influence.

“The following is a rough outline of Osea as we know it so far.”

The representatives of each country were given a document that Qua-Toyne had compiled that
outlined Osea:
- Osea is a new nation that has appeared in the Orient. According to them, it is a transfer
nation that suddenly appeared in this world.
- The first country to establish diplomatic relations was the Qua-Toyne Principality, and
when that country fell into war with the Louria Kingom, it participated on Qua-Toyne’s
side.
- In an unknown attack, Osea neutralized 400.000 troops, 4.300 warships, and 400 wyverns
of Lourian military, and forced Louria to surrender within three days of the start of the
war.
- After the war, Osea made contact with countries inside and outside the Third Civilization
Area, and actively exported products, developed infrastructure, and developed resource
projects to countries with which it established diplomatic relations.
- According to the engineers, the Osean products have the same mechanism as the
mechanical products of the powerful Mu, and the diplomats dispatched to Osea have all
reported that Osea has a civilization that surpasses that of Mu.
It’s all very incoherent, but the fact that it’s all true makes the representatives of each country
feel light-headed. They can’t help but be puzzled as to why this messed up country called Osea
has suddenly appeared in their neighborhood.

However, as Osea said, it was probably a country that had transferred from another world. It’s a
country that is probably comparable to the superpowers of this world. If such a country suddenly
appeared in a remote area outside the civilized world, it would make sense.

“Well, what is the perception of each country?”

When Rinsui urged to speak, the representative of the Mao Kingdom immediately raised his
hand.

“I am representing Mao Kingdom. Our country considers Osea to be a dangerous country. We

don’t have diplomatic relations with them, but after destroying Louria, they are brazenly forcing
their products on other countries and even developing resources. To be honest, they’re still good
enough, but we don’t know what they’ll do in the future.”

Hearing this, the representatives of each country groaned. The Mao Kingdom had a point. They
don’t know how Osea will behave in the future, and there’s no guarantee that they won’t act like
the Parpaldia Empire. After Mao, the representative of the Topa Kingdom raised his hand.

“I am the representative of the Topa Kingdom. Our country considers Osea to be more
conscientious than Parpaldia. At least, Osea doesn’t mock us as blatantly as the Empire does.
From an economic point of view, we can’t deny that they are pushy, but if we go along with
them moderately, we won’t get noticed.”

The representative of the Sios Kingdom raised his hand and began to speak after Topa.

“I am representing the Sios Kingdom. We are of the same opinion as Topa. We believe if we
interact peacefully, we will not be invaded by Osea, and in fact, we can gain a great deal of profit
just by interacting peacefully with them.”

The Sios representative quenched his thirst with the beverage that he had brought, a processed
beverage that he had actually imported from Osea, before continuing.

“It’s not like the Parpaldia, where they don’t ask for slaves or cede territory in exchange for
technology. As long as you pay a fair price, you can get products with technology superior to
that of the empire. Their products are cheaper than those of Parpaldia, but their performance is
higher. I think we should have relations with Osea.”
The representatives of the countries that have diplomatic relations with Osea nodded their heads
in agreement. In order to recover from the economic losses caused by the transition, Osea is
currently exporting a large number of automobiles, industrial products, daily necessities, and
other products to the countries of this world.

Although the number of automobiles and industrial products exported is still small, clothing,
processed foods, medicines, daily necessities, and daily goods have already become a hit in the
countries of the Third Civilization that have diplomatic relations with Osea, and are being
distributed explosively, quickly penetrating the lives of the citizens.

Until recently, the products made by the Parpaldia Empire were more widely distributed in the
Third Civilization Area, but since the products of the Empire were made with early modern
technology, it was only natural that Osean made products with 21st century technology were far
superior.

Moreover, while Parpaldia demanded the donation of slaves and the cession of territory as
compensation, Osea only demanded foreign currency at a reasonable price, resources that could
be traded through barter, and the right to develop underground resources, so it was only natural
that Osea was chosen over Parpaldia.

“I represent the Quila Kingdom. We agree with you, Topa and Sios. We have been exporting
burning stone and burning black water to their country, and they have provided us with
infrastructure. Their standard of living has improved, and we think they should be welcomed as a
friendly nation.”
“I am the representative of the Altaras Kingdom, and like Quila, our country has been rapidly
developing since we became involved with Osea. What our country has gained from that country
is an enormous profit that even the disadvantages are hazy. It’s a far cry from the Empire.”

Some of the representatives also nodded their heads. Some of the countries were building
infrastructure, such as expanding roads and ports, constructing power plants and waterworks,
etc., at low cost so that Osea could spread its industrial products to other countries.

“I am representing Awan Kingdom… Considering that Osea’s technology is more than a

superpower… shouldn’t we make better use of Osea to counter the threat of the Parpaldia
Empire? The Empire has been overdoing it for the last ten years or so.”

Most of the representatives agreed with Awan representative’s words, and the participants of the
conference thought that perhaps Osea could counter Parpaldia. If they could free themselves
from the exploitation and domination of Parpaldia, they would be very happy.
In the end, the meeting was largely concluded, with each country sharing the same understanding
that they should work well together without antagonizing Osea, and that they should use Osea’s
power against Parpaldia.

Parpaldia, Imperial Capital Esthirant/Third Foreign Affairs Bureau

“What is the meaning of this!?”

Kaios, the director of the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau angrily shouted. The Third Foreign
Affairs Bureau is the department of the powerful Parpaldia Empire that is in charge of diplomacy
with barbarian countries—outside civilization countries, and it is a test of how much coercion
they can exert on barbarian countries to squeeze profits out of them.

For example, in exchange for providing outdated technology to the barbarian nation, they would
be forced to offer slaves and territory to the Empire. It’s a win-win situation.

However, in the past few weeks, the barbarian countries under the influence of Parpaldia have
stopped giving their products one after another. Of course, the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau
stopped providing technology to the barbarian countries, and even stopped exporting industrial
products made in the Empire. This was supposed to be the end of the barbarian nations.

However, the barbarian countries still refused to resume the supply of goods to the Empire, and
some of them even took a strong stance and told Parpaldia that they were willing to stop trading
with the Empire. This was a very bad situation for Kaios, the head of Third Foreign Affairs
Bureau in charge of the barbarian countries.

There are already more than 20 rebellious barbarian nations, and if the situation continues, Kaios
may be branded as an incompetent who does not do his job. If that happened, his career would be
tarnished and he would never be able to hold a senior position again. That was the only thing he
had to avoid.

First of all, Kaios decided to find out why the barbarian nations had all turned against Parpaldia.
Kaios noticed a strange similarity in almost all of the reports from the counterparts of the
barbarian ambassadors who had informed him of the suspension of the offering.

A description of a nation. The name of the country written there was ‘Osea’.
Kaios decided to trace the reason for the barbarian nation’s rebellion through the country called
Osea. Perhaps because Osea was a new country, the information gathered was often insufficient.
However, the more Kaios investigated, the more he was convinced that Osea was somehow
related.

It seems that Osea is the country that just recently forced Louria Kingdom to surrender in three
days, and has been making contact with countries around the Third Civilization Area, both inside
and outside civilization area, one after another, selling large amounts of technology and
industrial products to barbarian countries in exchange for resources.

The barbarian nations are willing to give up the technology that the Empire is offering. That’s
how attractive Osea is to the barbarian nations. The more he looked into it, the more he found out
about its true identity.

It seems that Osea has established diplomatic relations with Mu. Could it be possible that Osea is
exporting the technology of the powerful Mu to the Third Civilization countries? If that’s the
case, then Kaios could understand. The technology of Mu is more advanced than that of the
Empire.

According to his research, it was probably because of Mu’s technology that they were able to
make Louria surrender in three days, a large with a ridiculously large population and an
incredibly large war potential for a barbarian. No matter how hard the barbarians try, they can’t
beat the superpowers.

Mu and Parpaldia are neither on bad terms nor on good terms, but if it’s true that Mu’s
technology is being exported to the barbarian countries under Parpaldia via Osea, then it’s a
complete interference in their internal affairs. They need to crush Osea as soon as possible and
prevent the influx of Mu technology.

So, Kaios thought of punitive attacks on Osea to stop the influx of technology, but since Osea
was a new country, he didn’t know the location of its land. At most, it was somewhere in the
Orient, but no detailed location was known.

In the first place, there was no information about ambassadors or envoys of that country landing
on the mainland of Parpaldia, and the diplomatic desk of the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau was
not even aware of the existence of an envoy from a country like Osea. It was impossible to attack
a country whose location and information was unknown.

But there was still a way. They could launch a punitive strike against the barbarian nations that
had allied with Osea, and make an example of what would happen to countries that defied the
Empire. Kaios then turned his attention to the Altaras Kingdom. It is also known as a great
power outside the civilized world.

Altaras has diplomatic relations with Osea, and has recently been purchasing a large number of
Osea’s products, as have other countries, and is also defiant against the Empire, refusing to offer
slaves and resources. It would be perfect to make an example out of them.

“Make an example of Altaras… Hey! Prepare to punish Altaras!”

The Third Foreign Affairs Bureau has the authority to order a unit called the Oversight Army to
carry out punitive actions. Kaios ordered the Oversight Army to prepare to launch a punitive
strike against the Altaras Kingdom. They are to give Altaras an ultimatum, and if it is kicked,
they are to launch a punitive attack.

CHAPTER 20: Altaras’s Request for Help

July 4, 1639 Central Calendar, 10:30

Bright Hill, Osean Presidential Palace/Capital City Oured

In the office of Bright Hill, the President’s official residence, the President was going about his
duties as usual. Then, an aide to the President came into the office, and the President received a
report from the aide. The President was puzzled by the report.

“The Altaras Kingdom has requested that we send reinforcements?”

“Yes, Altaras has received absurd demands from Parpaldia and was threatened to attack if we
don’t accept them.”
“What kind of demands did Altaras receive?”
“It’s written in this document.”

It was expected that the Parpaldia Empire would attack a country that had already established
diplomatic relations with Osea. This is the kind of country that Parpaldia is. But the President’s
real feeling was that he didn’t expect it to happen so soon.

The Preseident received the document from his aide, which was translated into the Osean
language, and read it over. As he read through the document, he was dazzled by the arrogance of
the Parpaldians. The demands are as follows.

To the Altaras Kingdom

- Resume the donation to our country immediately.

- Apologize and make reparations for the suspension of the offering to our country.
- The compensation shall be the donation of the Siltras Mine, your country’s largest magic
stone mine, to our country.
- If you do not comply, the Empire will initiate punitive action against your country three
weeks from now, on July 22.
- Addendum: Your Princess Lumies is to be presented as a slave to the Altaras Branch of
the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Parpaldia Empire.

July 1, 1639, Third Foreign Affairs Bureau of Parpaldia

“Handing over the largest mine and the princess… What is this offering, by the way?”
“It’s a demand that the Parpaldians are making of countries under their influence. In exchange
for slaves, land, and resources, they will receive technology and industrial products, as well as
the protection of the Empire.”
“The disadvantages are more obvious.”
“Well, I’ve heard that Altaras also stopped giving money to them after they exchanged with us.
The technology and industrial products obtained through exchange with our country are far
superior, and they can be sold at a fair price.”
“If that’s the case, it makes sense that Altaras stopped the offering. So when they stopped the
offering, Parpaldia got angry.”

He’d always thought that Parpaldia is a very arrogant country.

“In the meantime, gather the ministers. Whether we’re saving Altaras or going to war with
Parpaldia, we need to discuss this.”
“Understood.”

30 minutes later
Same place

Within half an hour, the Vice President, the Minister of State, the Minister of Trade, the Minister
of Defense, the Minister of Finance, and other ministers had gathered in the Oval Office of the
Presidential Palace. After confirming that most of the ministers had gathered, the president
quickly spoke.

“As you’ve probably already heard, Altaras has requested the dispatch of the Osean military. Our
country may have to enter the war again. I would like to ask you a few questions.”

First, the President asked the Minister of State.

“Mr. State Minister, did you sign a security treaty with Altaras?”
“Yes, we just signed it a week ago. If there is a crisis between the two countries, we will be able
to dispatch troops. However, we haven’t been able to dispatch our troops yet.”
“So we have a pretext to enter the war.”
“Yes, I don’t know how it works in this world, but at least in the previous world it would be
accepted as a good reason to enter the war.”

Then the Minister of Finance asked a question.

“I would like to ask, what are the benefits to our country if we side with Altaras?”
“I can think of no advantage to joining the war, but rather a disadvantage in the event of an
attack on Altaras. You know this, don’t you, Minister of Finance?”

In response to the Minister of Finance’s question, the Minister of Trade asked the opposite
question.

“The country with which we recently established diplomatic relations, is it? I’ve heard that it’s a
modern country where mechanical science is the mainstream and that is a promising market.”
“Yes. Mu is a very promising export destination for industrial products.”
“But what does that have to do with Altaras?”
“It has to do with the location of Altaras.”

The Minister of Trade unfolded a map of the area around the Third Civilization, which was
created based on satellite data, and explained.

“Altaras is here. As you can see, it is located between the continents of Rodenius and Philades.
This is the exit of the Third Civilization Area and a choke point for trade routes.”

The President somehow understood what the Trade Minister wanted to say to the Finance
Minister.

“In other words… the loss of Altaras, which can be used as a trade hub, could be a negative for
trade with Mu, is that what you’re saying?”
“Yes. Considering the economic loss, it seems reasonable to save Altaras. Also, from a national
security perspective, the threat of Parpaldia should be neutralized as soon as possible, correct,
Mr. Minister of Defense?”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
The president thought about it for a moment while he said, “I see.” It’s true that saving Altaras
would not be a bad idea if it would have a negative impact on the economy. But there is still
cause for concern. The President turned to the Minister of Defense.

“Mr. Minister of Defense, just to confirm, do we know the strength of that country?”

He sure they’ll be fine, but they are the ‘superpower’ of this world, and no matter how much
Osea does, they can’t be too careful.

“We have been able to ascertain the exact strength of Parpaldia through the OIA’s intelligence
activities and high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft.”
“What exactly are we dealing with?”
“I’ll explain that to you. First—”

In place of the Minister of Defense, Edwards, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, begins
his explanation. First of all, the air power of the empire. It uses a modified version of the wyvern,
and the maximum speed of the modified version is about 350 km/h, which is not threatening at
all. It seems that they have nearly 2.000 of them.

Next is the Parpaldian naval force, with over a thousand ships-of-the-line and dragon carriers,
and an almost equal number of auxiliary vessels. However, the ships-of-the-line only have
cannons with a range of about two kilometers, and the aircraft carriers called ‘dragon carriers’
only carry Wyvern Lords, so they pose no threat.

Finally, there is the Parpaldian army, consisting of 900.000 mainly battle line infantry armed
with musket, artillery with a range of two kilometers, and what appears to be an armored force,
the Land Dragon. All of them pose no threat at all unless approached carelessly.

As for magic, they use it extensively for logistical support such as communications, enemy
spotting, and medical care, but not for offensive units like Louria. So, it is safe to say that the
war potential of the Parpaldian military can be considered without magic.

“Where did you get this information?”

“It is the result of investigative activities by local agents and high-altitude recon planes.”
“No, I mean, how did you get all these details?”
“The Parpaldians are very proud. If a local agent posed as an outsider to the civilized world and
made a poor impression, they would brag about the information and give it to us. I was able to
get some of it from the Parpaldian soldiers, so I trust them.”

The President was dumbfounded by Parpaldia, but asked again.

“What is your conclusion?”
“The Osean Defense Forces is one hundred percent sure of defeating the Parpaldians.”

Then, the President thought, there would be almost no damage to the Osean side in a war.

“……I see. Now, what exactly should our country do?”

“First, we will dispatch the Osean military to Altaras within two weeks, and then use the security
treaty as a pretext to repel the Imperial forces attacking Altaras.”
“And then?”
“If we can show the Parpaldians the modicum of our power, they will not be so overbearing. In
the meantime, we will prepare to strike Parpaldia directly. After that, we can go on to the
offensive and hit the Empire moderately.”

The President pondered silently, then opened his mouth.

“…Okay. I will send reinforcements to Altaras within two weeks. I’ll ask the Congress for
permission to send troops as soon as possible.”

The President made a decision to save Altaras – or rather, to go to war with Parpaldia.

Parpaldia Imperial Oversight Army Combined Fleet/A Military Port, Parpaldia Empire

A fleet of several ships-of-the-line steered south and sailed from the port of Parpaldia. It is the
fleet of the Imperial Oversight Army. They had finally reached the deadline for their demands
against the Altaras Kingdom, and had begun to march towards Altaras to launch a punitive
strike.

This time, since it was an attack on the Altaras Kingdom, also known as a great power outside of
civilization, the Oversight Army had mobilized all of its forces, including the Eastern,
Northeastern, and Southern Fleets, and had gathered a total of 66 ships-of-the-line. 60 Wyvern
Lords were also deployed.

The majority of the warships were of the 30, 50, and 80-gun class, and compared to the regular
military, there were no dragon carriers capable of operating wyverns at sea, nor were there 100-
gun ships-of-the-line with high firepower. But it was still the largest force since the formation of
the Oversight Army.

“As soon as we enter the enemy wyvern’s operational range, be on high alert.”
Admiral Poktoar, the leader of the Oversight Army fleet, reminded himself that no matter how
large the fleet was, he should never let his guard down. The other side is a large country outside
the civilized world. They are prepared for damage to their fleet. He didn’t expect it to be wiped
out or destroyed, though.

July 23, 1639 Central Calendar, 11:00

600 meters above the sky, Altaras Kingdom

In the skies above Altaras Kingdom, there was the shadow of two large aircraft. With the
emblem of the OADF painted on its fuselage, it was a C-5 Galaxy strategic transport aircraft.
The two transport planes, characterized by their long cruising range, were flying to bring a
certain force to Altaras.

Originally, Osea had planned to place a garrison force within the Altaras Kingdom. However, the
Parpaldia Empire had invaded Altaras too quickly, so there was no garrisoned force of Osea
within Altaras when the Oversight Army was approaching.

Therefore, due to the invasion of the Oversight Army, the Osean military hastily decided to send
reinforcements to Altaras. However, the base for the garrisoned troops in Altaras was still under
construction, and it was not possible to conduct takeoffs, landings, and supply operations for the
Osean aircraft.

In addition, Altaras is far from the Osean mainland, so due to its range, if fighters were flown
from the mainland, they would run out of fuel by the time they reached Altaras and would not be
able to fight effectively.

For this reason, the Osean military decided to dispatch to Altaras a force that could be deployed
immediately and could operate without worrying about supply. What was dispatched to Altaras
in this way was something that should be described as unique.

“This is AWACS Sky Keeper. The enemy fleet will enter Altaras territorial waters within the
hour.”

The E-767 AWACS aircraft of the OADF deployed over Altaras confirmed the approach of the
Oversight Army fleet via radar. The E-767 was originally converted from a passenger plane and
has a long range, which is why it has been dispatched as one of Altaras’s reinforcements.
“All UAVs, prepare for launch. Share the information with the Altaras military. We’re the main
players, but we also need to make them look good.”
“Copy that. I’ll share the information with Altaras.”
“All UAVs, prepare for launch.”

The information from the E-767 will be shared with the Altaras Royal Army. At the very least,
the party involved in this time was Altaras, so it was necessary to make a face for them. In
response to this information, Altaras army’s wyverns began to launch urgently at the wyvern
base in the kingdom.

The Osean military also hurried to prepare for interception. In the skies above Altaras, two C-5
Galaxy strategic transport planes opened their rear cargo doors and began to drop drones one
after another into the air. The drones deployed their wings in the air and immediately began to
fly.

The unmanned MQ-101 fighter jet was dropped. The MQ-101 is a parasitic unmanned fighter
developed by the Gründer Industries, a company descended from the technological powerhouse
of Belka, to be used at an aerial aircraft carrier. It is known to have been used on the Arsenal
Bird, a giant unmanned aerial vehicle.

In order to meet the requirements of being able to deploy immediately to Altaras and to operate
without worrying about supply, the Osean military chose to operate a long-ranged transport plane
as an aircraft carrier and to use small unmanned aircrafts.

The number of MQ-101s launched was 12. The MQ-101s flew at subsonic speed past the
wyverns of Altaras, which had launched first, and headed straight for the enemy fleet. After more
than ten minutes of flight, the MQ-101’s various sensors began to detect the enemy fleet.

“Barracuda 1 to all planes. Shoot down the wyverns that appear to be conducting combat
patrols over the enemy fleet, then attack any targets.”
“Barracuda 2, roger.”
“Barracuda 3, roger!”

The drone pilots remotely controlling the MQ-101 from the cabin inside the C-5 aimed the MQ-
101’s armament at the enemy. Originally, the MQ-101 was a fully autonomous weapon equipped
with combat AI, but after the Lighthouse War, the Osean military adopted a remote-control
system.

A remotely piloted weapon is at risk of being neutralized by hacking or electronic warfare

attacks. Also, the advantages of an autonomous weapon would be lost. However, the experience
of the Lighthouse War had made the Osean military lose all faith in AI-equipped drones.
“All units engage. Commence attack.”

A swarm of drones attacked the Oversight Army fleet.

Notes
- MQ-101
The MQ-101 is a full-wing parasitic unmanned fighter developed by Gründer Industries
of Osea. As its name implies, it can be stored inside large aircraft such as transport planes
and bombers, and is armed with the M197 20 mm machine gun and various missiles, with
a maximum speed of Mach 0,9.
- Arsenal Bird
A super-large unmanned aerial vehicle developed jointly by various countries under the
leadership of Osea for the purpose of defending the International Space Elevator, which
is vulnerable to terrorist attacks. It is shaped like a full-wing propeller-driven aircraft,
weighing more than 100.000 tons and measuring more than 1.100 meters in width, and is
equipped with 80 MQ-101s and numerous other weapons. During the Lighthouse War,
the Erusean military seized the MQ-101s and orbital elevator, and operated two of them,
but they were eventually destroyed.
- C-5MA Mother Galaxy
An aerial carrier built by Osea based on the C-5M Super Galaxy strategic transport.
Equipped with six of MQ-101 drones, it can remotely control, launch, stow, and replenish
drones all while in flight. It was originally developed on a trial basis under the influence
of Estovakian military’s airborne fleet concept, and was to consist of two of these
aircraft, one E-767 AWACS, and one AL-1B anti-aircraft laser plane. In the end, delays
in the development of the AL-1B and disarmament caused the Osean version of the
airborne fleet concept to be abandoned, but the test data obtained from the C-5MA was
later used in the development of the Arsenal Bird.

CHAPTER 21: Repelling the Oversight Army

July 23, 1639 Central Calendar, 11:05

Parpaldia Imperial Oversight Army Combined Fleet

The combined fleet of the Parpaldia Imperial Oversight Army, which set sail from the military
port of Parpaldia yesterday and is moving southward across the sea, is advancing to take punitive
action against the Altaras Kingdom. In the midst of this, they were attacked by Osean drones.
The first of the Oversight Army to be attacked were eight Wyvern Lords patrolling above.
Admiral Poktoar noticed that there was a sound that cut through the air and a delayed burst of
something exploding.

“Hmm? What’s that noise?”

Admiral Poktoar looked up at the sky, recognizing that the direction of the sound was upwards.

“Huh!?”

He saw eight Wyvern Lords on patrol in the sky suddenly crushed into pieces of flesh. The
attackers were, of course, eight air-to-air missiles fired from a distance by Osean drones.

“W-what!?”
“The Wyvern Lords have been hit!!”
“Attack! Where’s the enemy!?”

In the blink of an eye, the Wyvern Lords and their riders are reduced to mere pieces of meat,
falling like rain with the smell of burning flesh and reddish-black blood. The people in the
Oversight Army fleet were shocked to see the undefeated Wyvern Lord shot down.

Even Admiral Poktoar was shocked at the sight of the defeat of the Wyvern Lord, which was
unbeatable in the Third Civilization. But soon after, he heard the shout of a sentry in his ears, and
it made him jump.

“Westward! About ten enemy flying dragons! Approaching fast!”

“All ships of the fleet, prepare for anti-air combat! Dispatch, request the Wyvern Lords at home
to launch! The eight riders were easily destroyed. Send them out in full force!”

Poktoar, who was in a position to command the fleet even if he was corrupt, immediately gave
the order. His orders were relayed to all the ships in the Oversight Army through a manacom.
But before it could be completed, the assailant flew over the fleet. It passed through the sky in an
instant.

It was an object that Poktoar, or anyone else accompanying the Oversight Army, had never seen
before. It was not a wyvern at all, but a white, inorganic looking thing with no trace of life in it.

“What the heck is that…!?”

At the moment when Poktoar let out a murmur, the 30-gun ship-of-the-line Paos, which was
sailing ahead of the fleet, suddenly exploded; the XSDB small guided bomb dropped by the MQ-
101 hit the warship Paos, causing the magic stones and ammunition inside the ship to explode
and sink it.

“P-Paos is sinking!”
“Impossible! Even though it’s a 30-gun class, it’s still an armored warship that will not sunk in
an instant!”

Meanwhile, the front line of the fleet and the rear were attacked by drones and sunk. With the
front and rear of the fleet blocked, the Oversight Army fleet had nowhere to run, and many
collisions occurred as they tried to make reckless evasive maneuvers.

In a state of complete panic, the fleet of drones attacked again. The drones rained down XSDB
small guided bombs on the fleet, which had nowhere to run. With unmatched accuracy, the
XSDBs hunted the warships one by one.

There were also wind-magic-enhanced anti-aircraft ballistae, and some warships attempted to
fire anti-aircraft shots by elevating their magic cannons (Parpaldian ships-of-the-line can elevate
their cannons for anti-aircraft purposes), but they were hopelessly unable to hit the drones, which
were many times faster than wyverns.

“Admiral, friendly cavalry at the rear of the fleet—friendly Wyvern Lords!”

“Ooh, they’re finally here!”

Poktoar and the others cheered as the 52 Wyvern Lords finally arrived above the fleet. Eight of
them had been killed instantly earlier, but if they challenged them with a horde of 50 or more,
they should be able to crush the enemy cavalry. They thought so.

The enemy flying machines above the fleet also turned their wings to face the Wyvern Lords. 52
to 12, Poktoar thought, and the difference in numbers would be overwhelming. Poktoar found
hope, but in the next moment, that hope was easily crushed.

Poktoar saw it. The enemy cavalry fired arrows of light. The next thing he know, it plunged into
the Wyvern Lord and blowing itself up.

“What!?”
“This is ridiculous…”

In an instant, more than 20 allied Wyvern Lords were struck down. The members of the
Oversight Army paled at the sight. The enemy cavalry closed the distance even further, and in
addition to their high speed, they demonstrated incredible turning maneuvers and tossed the
Wyvern Lords around.
The Wyvern Lords fired fireballs at the enemy rider, but the enemy rider evades it with a series
of sharp turns that would be impossible for any living creature. The Wyvern Lord’s attacks were
completely unsuccessful, while the enemy cavalry’s attacks were inevitable.

In less than a few minutes, the allied Wyvern Lords were annihilated. Not caring about the
confusion and despair of the Parpaldians, the enemy flying dragons flew through the sky and
resumed their attack on the warships. The soldiers are in despair, but they are even more
desperate.

“More unknown cavalry from the south!”

“What is it this time!?”

Poktoar looked at the south, and his face turned even paler than before. There was a herd of
wyverns approaching that made the sky look black. There are at least a hundred of them.

“That is… definitely wyverns from Altaras Kingdom!”

“At this moment…!?”
“Oh, my god… there’s a ship on the horizon, probably the Altaras navy!”

After the Osean drones, the wyverns and ships-of-the-line of the Altaras Kingdom were about to
arrive for battle. The equipment of the Altaran Navy was considerably inferior to that of the
Oversight Army, and under normal circumstances, the Oversight Army would have won.

But now that the fleet had taken a hit and lost its air cover, there was no power left in the
Oversight Army fleet to defeat them. If they hadn’t, they wouldn’t have been able to win.

“R-retreat! All ships, turn around and return to the homeland! This operation is… a failure!”

The Oversight Army began to retreat while avoiding the wreckage of the sunken ships. At that
point, the Altaras wyverns also began to attack, and there were already less than 20 ships left.
The ship that Poktoar boarded also begins a sharp reversal, demonstrating the full potential of the
ship.

However, in the next moment, the flagship shook so much that Poktoar lost his balance on the
deck and fall down. A fireball fired by an Altaras wyvern hit him, and it exploded some
combustible material. The fire spread to the entire ship.

“Oh, no!”
The next moment, the flagship of the Oversight Army, which was on fire, was triggered by a
magic stone and sank in a huge pillar of fire. Of course, Poktoar had not been able to escape
from this flagship.

The Osean drones, along with the 45 warships and 120 wyverns of Altaras Kingdom, which
joined the battle late, attacked and defeated the Oversight Army relentlessly, and the battle ended
in an overwhelming victory for the Osean side. Of the 66 ships in the Oversight Army fleet, only
five remained.

The same day

Altaras Kingdom

The Altaras Kingdom announced to the world that it had successfully defeated the Parpaldian
military. The purpose of this was to let the world know that an outside civilization country had
defeated a superpower.

This was also a request from Osea to Altaras. The purpose of this request was to show Osea’s
own strength to the Empire, to check the Parpaldia Empire from taking any inappropriate actions
for a while, and to prepare for an offensive against the Empire in the meantime.

Altaras reported this matter all over the world through the manacom, especially to the countries
in the Third Civilization Area that are effectively controlled by Parpaldia, and even to Parpaldia
itself.

Osea is also planning to dispatch a garrison force to Altaras in the near future, and prepare a base
facility for the garrison force in a rush job. A landing ship with an army unit is on its way to
Altaras from the mainland, and an aircraft carrier fleet is scheduled to follow it.

Of course, the MQ-101 unmanned fighters that had defeated the Oversight Army and the C-5s
that carry them will return home, fill up with ammunition and fuel for the drones, and then fly
back into the skies over Altaras with four more C-5s.

If this was reported at the same time, any normal country would hesitate to invade again. Osea
was hoping for that. However, the problem was that it was not an ordinary country that it should
have been expecting, but the Parpaldia.

Third Foreign Affairs Office, Parpaldia Empire
“What the hell is this report…!”

The director of the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau, Kaios, was so furious that it seemed as if the
blood vessels in his head might burst. The reason why the normally calm Kaios was so angry
was because of the Oversight Army report that he had sent to Altaras.

First of all, the combined fleet of the Oversight Army was attacked by about ten unidentified
cavalries off the coast of Altaras. The eight Wyvern Lords that were providing air cover were
wiped out, and the fleet was also attacked. It was unheard of for eight Wyvern Lords to be shot
down.

At this point, Kaios is already very angry, but the tragedy of the Oversight Army doesn’t stop
there. After that, it is said that 52 Wyvern Lords, who were standing by at home as support,
sortied at full force to provide air cover for the fleet. The problem was…

“The Wyvern Lords have been annihilated.”

The Third Foreign Affairs Bureau was in a state of shock. 52 Wyvern Lords were wiped out.
There have been a few times when Wyvern Lords have been crashed into outside civilization
countries, but they were limited to one or two at most, and it was unheard of for 52, or even 60 in
total, to be wiped out.

The fleet was also hit hard and retreated, but only 5 of the 66 ships returned. The other ships
were all sunk by enemy fire and turned to seaweed. The other ships were all sunk by enemy fire
and turned to seaweed, and those that were lucky enough to return were so badly mangled that
they would never be able to sail again.

What hurt them so badly? According to the sailors of the returning fleet, white, boomerang-like
flying dragons attacked the fleet. However, Altaras’s air force is a wyvern, which does not fit
that description.

‘The enemy is… Osea?’

So, it’s possible that the attacker is Osea. No, it’s actually Osea. The Altaras Kingdom just
announced in a broadcast on manacom that they had defeated the Oversight Army along with
Osea. He knew it was Osea who was involved.

They are considered to have the most advanced technology outside the civilized world, even
more so than the powerful Mu, and it was probably not wyverns but flying machines that
attacked the Oversight Army this time. If it was a flying machine, it might not be able to do
much damage.

However, it is not hard to imagine what would happen to the enemy who had smeared the
Empire. He’s sure that the next step is not the Oversight Army, but the regular Parpaldian
military, which has the most advanced equipment, if they want to beat the power of their
country, no matter how old it is.

The Imperial Army rarely sails. It’s not uncommon for the regulars to sortie unless they have a
good reason, such as to enrage Parpaldia. Therefore, if they were to move, even if they were the
armies of the same powers, they would suffer heavy losses. And if the opponent is an outside
civilization country, it goes without saying.

“Director Kaios!”
“What!?”

Kaios was reading the report when one of his subordinates summoned him.

“It’s from the Emperor! He’s holding an emergency meeting and needs you to come to the palace
right away!”
“…! All right, I’m on my way.”

Perhaps the news of the Oversight Army’s destruction had reached Emperor Ludius of Parpaldia.
Kaios prayed inwardly that his future fate would at least move in a positive direction, and headed
for the imperial palace where Emperor Ludius was.

CHAPTER 22: Declaration of Annihilation War

July 24, 1639 Central Calendar, 09:15

Paradis Castle/Capital Esthirant, Parpaldia Empire

The Paradis Castle is the largest in the Capital, as befits the residence of the emperor of the only
superpower in the Third Civilization. Despite its size, it has delicate carvings down to the pillars,
and people from outside the empire are overwhelmed by its majesty.

Kaios, the director of the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau, had been summoned by the emperor to
visit this palace, which seemed to have been built by gathering wealth from all over the Third
Civilization. And now, Kaios was kneeling in front of a man with his head down.

“Raise your face.”

Kaios looked up in cold sweat. Around him prostrate the directors of the First Foreign Affairs
Bureau, the Second Foreign Affairs Bureau, the Economic Affairs Bureau, the Vassal Governing
Body, the Foreign Affairs Bureau’s Audit Office, the City Planning Bureau, the Finance Bureau,
the Agriculture Bureau, and other senior officials of the Empire.

At the place where the ministers and Kaios are kneeling or prostrating, there is a young man.
However, despite his young appearance, the man radiated a dignity that made the air tense. This
man is the young emperor of Parpaldia, Ludius.

“Kaios, it seems that you have dispatched the Oversight Army to the Altaras Kingdom for
punishment. What is your report to me?”

When Ludius asked, Kaios opened his mouth.

“Yes, I apologize for not reporting the dispatch of the Oversight Army—”
“BULLSHIT!!”
“Uh……!”

Kaios’s sweat broke out all over his body as Ludius yelled at him.

“Kaios, I don’t want to hear a report on the punishment of the barbarian nation. What I want to
hear is about the defeat of the Oversight Army by the barbarians. Is it true that the Oversight
Army was defeated?”
“Y-yes, it is true.”

Kaios answered Ludius’s question carefully, choosing his words.

“I heard. I’ve heard that the Oversight Army took a lot of damage. Even with the outdated
equipment of the Oversight Army, the nations will see the Empire as having defeated by an
outside civilization power. We can’t let that happen!”

When Kaios glanced up, he saw that Ludius’s face was turning angry. Kaios had a hunch that
this was a very bad idea. Anger dulls a person’s judgment. If he spoke out of turn, he might be
executed in a heartbeat.

“It is necessary to make sure that any country that puts soil on our country is held accountable.
Make sure they know what it means to go against the empire.”
“O-of course, My Lord.”
“So, Kaios, what country are we dealing with?”
“Yes, the Altaras Kingdom and, I believe, Osea.”
“Hmm… I’ve never heard of Osea, but Altaras? My country has been taken for granted.”

Ludius asked Arde, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, as he puts his cheekbones
together.

“Arde, is it possible for the Imperial Army to go into battle?”

“Yes, Your Majesty’s command will allow us to launch the entire army in the near future. Your
Majesty can order the entire army to sortie with a single word.”

Unlike the Oversight Army, the Imperial Army is a regular military. They were originally
preparing to invade the Altaras Kingdom (regardless of the Third Foreign Affairs Bureau’s
intentions) and take the entire country’s magic stone mines. Therefore, it was possible to launch
a sortie in the near future.

“Then I command you.”

Ludius broke off his speech once.

“The barbarians are getting carried away with the Oversight Army… the Altaras Kingdom and,
did I mention Osea? First, I order to dispatch the Imperial Army to Altaras. Let them know once
and for all what will happen to a nation that defies the Empire.”
“Yes, My Lord!”

This is the end of Altaras, everyone at the conference thought. In fact, in the past hundred years,
no country has been able to survive with the Imperial Army, the regular armed forces of the
Empire, in action. At this point, Remille, an imperial princess belonging to the Audit Office of
the Foreign Affairs Bureau, raised her hand.

“Your Majesty, may I have a word with you?”

“What is it, Remille?”

Ludius, Kaios, and the others looked at Remille.

“Yes, as a member of the Foreign Affairs Bureau’s Audit Office, I have seen the Third Foreign
Affairs Bureau’s report on Osea, which defeated the Oversight Army.”

Kaios looked at Remille in disbelief. As the name implies, the Foreign Affairs Bureau’s Audit
Office is a department that audits the Foreign Affairs Bureau for irregularities and inadequacies
in its handling of matters, and as such, it has access to reports compiled by the Foreign Affairs
Bureau without permission.
“It is said that the country of Osea is trying to obtain advanced technology from the powerful Mu
and export it to the barbarian countries under our empire in order to make the barbarian countries
leave the empire.”
“What? Is that true, Kaios?”
“Y-yes. I’m just guessing, but it’s very likely.”

That’s not good, Kaios thought. If Remille said anything strange here, Kaios’s own head would
be lopped off.

“Hmm. So, Remille, what do you want to say?”

“Your Majesty, I think that the people of the barbarian nation who are interfering in the internal
affairs of our empire should be destroyed as soon as possible. I propose that a war of annihilation
be waged against the barbarian nation of Osea.”

A war of annihilation—as the name implies, an ethnic cleansing in which all the people of the
other country are to be annihilated. It was precisely because Remille was a model for the
powerful people of Parpaldia, with a stronger sense of patriotism than most people and a high
level of pride, that she made this proposal.

“…You’re absolutely right. All right, I’ll declare a war of annihilation against Osea. But first,
let’s start with Altaras. It would be better to drop the geographically closer Altaras first.”

Ludius also understood Remille’s suggestion, and declared a war of annihilation against Osea.
Thus, the all-out clash between Osea and Parpaldia began. Ludius then turned his gaze to Kaios,
as he remembered something.

“Oh, by the way, Kaios.”

“Y-yes, Your Majesty.”
“You are largely responsible for failing to report the annihilation of the Oversight Army and the
Osean interference in the internal affairs. You are ordered to undergo house arrest and a
reduction in salary for the time being.”
“Y-yes, sir. I understand.”

For now, Kaios was relieved that his own head did not physically fly off.

July 29, 1639 Central Calendar, 18:00

Bright Hill, Osean Presidential Palace/Capital Oured
It had been almost a week since the Osean military and the Altaras Kingdom army had jointly
defeated the Parpaldia Empire’s forces. The Osean military was preparing for a direct attack on
the empire. It was thought that it would be some time before the empire would act. Or so they
thought.

Somehow, the Parpaldia Empire announced a full-scale invasion of Osea and Altaras through the
world’s leading international media, “News of the World,” and also declared that they would
carry out genocide against Osea.

Parpaldia has acted in complete opposition to the intentions of the Osean government. At the
same time, it was confirmed that the Imperial Army was preparing to launch a war action by the
Osean agents and reconnaissance satellites that had infiltrated the Empire.

From this series of movements, it has been confirmed that the Imperial Army will probably move
within a week, and according to the information gathered through various countries, it is believed
that the Parpaldian army will aim for the Altaras Kingdom. The forces for this are also designed
for a full-scale invasion.

The domestic public opinion in Osea was in uproar by Parpaldia’s attempt to carry out genocide
in their country. The Oseans, who had been seeking relative peace since the Circum-Pacific War,
were unusually angry. In response, the government held an emergency meeting.

“I thought Parpaldia was not going to act badly?”

The President was puzzled by the contradiction with what he had been told at the previous
meeting. It was said that if the Parpaldians could be reasonably shown the power of Osea, the
empire would not be able to come out in a coercive manner – but in fact, the empire declared
genocide, so it was no use.

“I can only say that we were wrong about Parpaldia. Considering the pride of that country, we
should have rather taken this kind of action into consideration.” The Ministry of Defense
regretted his lack of awareness.
“…Sorry. However, we have better things to talk about than that. We’ll talk about that later. So,
how should we respond to the Parpaldian invasion?”
“Of course, we should repel the Parpaldian forces that are attacking our country, but our first
priority should be the defense of Altaras.”
“It is true that Altaras alone will not be able to defeat the enemy forces, and if the enemy
occupies Altaras, it will be troublesome to retake it.”
In battle, it is easier to defend than to attack. If Altaras falls to the Parpaldian offensive, the
Osean military will need to invade and retake it. If it survives, it will only have to fight a
relatively easy defensive battle.

“By the way, how is the military planning to deal with this?”
“The first thing we will do is to put all our efforts into defending the Altaras Kingdom. The
troops that were originally scheduled to be stationed in the kingdom have been rushed to the
landing ships and completed their deployment to Altaras the other day. The carrier fleet is also in
the nearby waters.”
“What happens after Altaras is defended?”
“After we’ve suppressed the threat to Osean mainland, we’ll hit the Parpaldian mainland. We’ll
get into the details later, but we’re planning on strategic bombing on the Parpaldian military
facilities identified by the reconnaissance, as well as landing operations on the mainland.”
“Landing on the mainland, huh?”

In the Circum-Pacific War, the Osean military had dared to land on the mainland of Yuktobania,
advancing as far as the outskirts of the country’s capital, and compared to the 200-odd modern
army divisions of the Yukes, landing on Parpaldia would be a piece of cake.

“Yes, sir. At the very least, the landing on the enemy’s mainland will require some time to
prepare. Until then, we have no choice but to continue defending.”
“And… what about the targets for the strategic bombing attack? No matter how barbaric they
are, they won’t attack civilians, will they?”
“Of course not. That’s what barbarians do. The main thing is to attack the Imperial Army’s land
facilities and production facilities such as factories to deprive the army of its ability to take over
the war. But this will not begin until at least a month from now.”
“A month? Why?”

At first the President did not understand the significance of the deadline given by the Minister of
Defense.

“It’s exactly one month from now, when all the GPS satellites are launched, so we can bomb
them precisely and effectively.”
“GPS, I see.”

The President asked one last question.

“So, how do you want to end the war?”

“I’d like to say we show our strength and wait for Parpaldia to surrender, but… that’s probably
impossible after this debacle. Therefore, we will send the army that landed on the mainland to
march to the enemy’s capital.”
“So you’re forcing them to surrender? I think it’s a little too much work, but if we’re dealing
with that country, that’s the only way to go.”

Finally, Osea’s course of action was decided.
