SOME WARDS AND DEPARTMENTS


Surgical Wards the department takes care of patients with surgical conditions which
include laminectomy, craniotomy, septoplasty, appendectomy, hysterectomy,
maxillofacial surgery among others.

Medical Ward is for patients with various diseases are admitted for treatment. It is
mainly patients with pneumonia, chronic obstructive lung diseases etc.

Orthopaedic Ward is a department that deals with acute orthopaedic conditions.

Genecological Ward is the department medical practice dealing with the health of the
female reproductive system.

Paediatric Ward is the department which the beds are used exclusively for the care of
children.

E.N.T ward is a department in the hospital dealing with problems with the ears, nose
and throat

Long-Stay Ward a ward for patients who will stay in hospital for a long time.

X-Ray Department it is a department where radiographies are taken to patients

Operating Theatre it is a room where operations are performed

Casualty and Emergency (or Unit) (or Accident Emergency Department)

it is a department specializing in acute care of patients who don’t have a prior


appointment and who come to the hospital either by their own means or by ambulance.

Central Sterile Supply Department which is an installation in a hospital that is the

coordinator of a supply work system and sterile tools

Dispensary it is a place where medicines are compounded or given out.

Laboratory it is a place equipped for experimental study or for testing and analysis

Out-Patient Clinic it is a department where you can find those patients who are not

hospitalized overnight but who visit a hospital or a clinic for diagnosis or treatment
Maternity Unit part of a hospital maternity unit, where pregnancy (obstetric), newborn

(neonatal) and anaesthetic care is available. separate from a hospital, and without

immediate obstetric, neonatal or anaesthetic care.

Occupational Therapy Department is the department tohelp individuals solve the

problems that interfere with their ability to do the activities that are important to them

Antenatal Clinic is a department that conducts antenatal care which aims to optimally

improve the physical and mental health of pregnant women, so that they are able to

face the period of childbirth, postpartum, face preparation for exclusive breastfeeding,

and return to normal reproductive health.

Post-Natal is the department to help some people after labor

Psychiatric Unit mental health units or behavioral health units, are hospitals or wards

specializing in the treatment of severe mental

Admission Department it is a place where the execution of something is directed.

Infectious Disease Unit is the department ward that deals with community and hospital

acquired infectious diseases.


Anaesthetic Room in the hospital where people get medicine called anesthesia before an
operation
