Four Models of Home Economics

Guide Question: Examine the BS Home Economics Curriculum based on the course description and objectives of all courses (required, service and common).
Determine which model or combination of models did the curriculum follow. Explain your answer.

The curriculum of BS Home Economics follows the combination of management of the household: economics of Aristotle, application of science for
improving environment: human ecology of Richards, and inductive reasoning: cooking and sewing of Dewey, James, et. al. Overall, the models explain the
importance of knowing the theoretical and philosophical aspects of home economics as well as the practical aspects of it. Home Economics follows the
integration of these models because these are the core and foundation of improving the knowledge, skills, and experiences of the undergraduate students.
Every subject added in the curriculum helps build up the importance of the science and art of the daily living. People need to manage the home for a better
society, people need to have a good relationship with his or her family and other people so that the society will improve, and of course, people need to learn by
doing or experiencing the basic skills needed such as sewing and cooking through hands-on application not just by theoretical applications. I believe that BS
Home Economics curriculum empowers the importance of daily living and acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to improve the daily lives of the people.
People need home economics because it is a tool for self-help and dealing with the day-to-day lives of the individuals.

Below is the summarized explanation:
