    Level B1 in the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of
    Reference. Pass with Distinction 160 — 170
    Pass with Merit 153 — 159
    Candidates achieving a Pass with Distinction (between 160 and 170
    on the Cambridge English Scale) receive the Preliminary English Test
    Pass 140 — 152
    certificate stating that they have demonstrated ability at Level B2. Level A2 120 — 139
    Candidates achieving Pass with Merit or Pass (between 140 and 159 Candidates taking the Preliminary English Test scoring between 102
    on the Cambridge English Scale) receive the Preliminary English Test and 119 on the Cambridge English Scale do not receive a result,
    certificate at Level B1. CEFR level or certificate.
    Candidates whose performance is below Level B1, but falls within Cambridge English Scale scores below 102 are not reported for the
