Some of the interesting Academic programs that SDSU offers are Classics, the school has the
options of Classical Humanities, Classical Language and Classical Languages with honors. This
program is about the studies of languages, literatures and civilizations of ancient Greece and
Rome. Continuing with examples they also offer the Master of Science in Criminal Justice and
Criminology program, which offers a unique opportunity to integrate knowledge from the fields of
sociology, criminology and criminal justice. Another interesting academic program they offer is
the History Minor. This is for all the History lovers, they get to know the knowledge of the world
and receive a better understanding of the past. SDSU also gives us the Classical Music minor,
in which you get to experience the passion of music and learn much more from it. Last but not
least and definitely not the last program they offer is The SDSU Master of Fine Arts degree in
Musical Theater, in this master students put their talents on test as they learn and perform. (
Academic Programs). SDSU also offers all phD programs, for example Doctor of Philosophy
(Ph.D.), Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.), Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), and Doctorate in Physical
Therapy. (Doctoral Programs).
Entering another topic we go onto Retention rates, retention rates are an important metric that
calculates the percentage of people who continue doing one thing or find it pleasing, like a
product, for example the amount of people that continue trusting one company. SDSU is said to
have one of the best retention rates by freshmen, with 89.0% of students staying there for a
second year. Every College needs to admit their students by an application, SDSU’s Admission
rates are 36.7% meaning only this percent gets admitted into the college. Graduation is when
you complete some years of school and in the end receive an academic degree or diploma, so a
graduation rate would be the rate of people who graduate, and the graduation rate for SDSU is
74%. (SDSU Graduation and Retention Rates)

Some popular sports in SDSU are, baseball, cycling, dance, ice hockey, men’s crew, men and
women’s lacrosse, men and womens rugby, men and women’s soccer, men and women’s
ultimate frisbee, men and women’s volleyball, ski & snowboard, surf, tennis, triathlon and
waterski, and wakesports. (Sport Clubs Teams). The official SDSU mascot is an Aztec warrior
and they decided to choose the Aztec as a moniker in conjunction with preliminary plans to
move to a new campus. ( Aztec Identity). Some historical facts about SDSU are that it was
founded on March 13, 1897(Facts, Mission and History). SDSU does have some famous
people that have went there throughout the years, Ellen Ochoa-first hispanic female to
go to space in 1980, Kathy Najimy also went to SDSU in 1995-she's an actress and
played mary sanderson from hocus pocus, James Sinegal also went to SDSU the
cofounder former ceo of costco in 1959.

In Conclusion we believe SDSU is a very well established university. It's very well ‘’made’’ it has
many majors to choose from to achieve one’s personal success. As well as its an ‘’affordable’’
college compared to others. The hope that SDSU presents to us is the important people that
attended this college, like Ellen Ochoa, the first hispanic woman to go to space. And Kathy
Najimy, who portrays Mary Sanderson in the famous movie, Hocus Pocus with a box office of
45.4 million dollars. As well as all the interesting sports, and again the great opportunities with
its enticing academic programs. Something else we like about it is the fact that its retention rate
is pretty high, meaning it's a good school to try for and so are its graduation rates. Like many
universities, this one is a very good chance to succeed, and a very popular one at that. We
believe SDSU is a great college, for me, when writing my parts of this essay I was convinced I
should try for SDSU when I am given the chance, and reach the age. I think SDSU is a very
good university because they have a lot of sports options. And also because it's a big place.
