1.1 Transponder Control Feature Description


The transponder control feature allows third party transponder controllers the ability to control the
GTX 3X5 via ARINC 429.

1.2 Transponder Control Feature Enablement Requirements


 The minimum software required for transponder control feature enablement is GTX 3X5 Main
and ADS-B software v2.05.
 The minimum software required for the GTX install tool is software v3.05 or later.

1.3 Installed Unit Enablement Instructions


Steps:
1. Power off unit.
2. Connect the USB-A to USB-B cable.
3. Connect the USB-A side to the computer.
4. Connect to the USB-B receptacle installed in the aircraft wire harness.
5. Apply power to unit.
6. Launch the GTX install tool.
7. In the top menu bar, select “GTX.”
8. From the drop down menu, select “Apply Feature Code.”
9. In the Apply Feature Code text prompt, enter the code provided on the feature
enablement coupon.

 
10. Select “Apply Code.”

1.4 Unit Not Installed Or Connected Enablement Instructions
 GTX install tool software v3.05 or later is required.
Creating a configuration file for a GTX with transponder control enabled, but not installed or
connected to a computer.
Steps:
1. Launch the GTX install tool.
2. From the No unit detected prompt, select “OK.”

3. From the GTX Install Tool prompt, select “GTX 3X5.”

4. From the top menu bar, select “GTX.”


5. From the drop down menu, select “Offline Mode.”
6. From the Select Unit Type prompt, select the unit type.
7. If an on-board GPS is available, select “Yes.”
8. If the unit is a panel mount display, select “Yes.”
9. For Transponder Control, select “Yes.”
10. To enter Offline Mode, select “OK.”
11. Select tabs and set all necessary parameters.
12. To save changes, select “Save.”
13. From the top menu bar, select “GTX.”
14. From the drop down menu, select “Configuration.”
15. Select “Save.”
16. Correct any warnings or failures where necessary.
17. Specify an appropriate file name and location.
18. Select “Save.”

1.5 Loading Configuration File Using GTX Install Tool Instructions
Use the GTX install tool to load an existing configuration file onto a GTX with transponder control.
Steps:
1. Power off unit.
2. Connect the USB-A to USB-B cable.
3. Connect the USB-A side to the computer.
4. Connect to the USB-B receptacle installed in the aircraft wire harness.
5. Apply power to the unit.
6. Launch the GTX install tool.
7. In the top menu bar, select “GTX.”
8. From the drop down menu, select “Apply Feature Code.”
9. In the Apply Feature Code text prompt, enter the code provided on the feature
enablement coupon.

10. Select “Apply Code.”


11. In the top menu bar, select “GTX.”
12. In the drop down menu, select “Configuration.”
13. Select “Push to configuration module.”
14. Select “Load.”
15. Locate and select the previously saved configuration file.
16. Select “Open.”
17. To acknowledge the prompt, select “OK.”
