We’ve found
our Matilda!
Fort Peck Summer Theatre
is proud to announce that the
leading role in Matilda will be
played by McKay Yoakam.
Winner of nearly 50
international awards and
based on the beloved novel
by fantastical genius Roald
Dahl (Willy Wonka), this
captivating modern masterpiece
follows young genius Matilda
Wormwood. She is mistreated
by her father Harry, her mother
Zinnia and her older brother
Michael. Smart and independent,
she finds solace in the fictional
worlds of books at the public
library. Things are no better
at school, where Matilda also
must face a tyrannical and cruel
headmistress, Miss Trunchbull.
Surrounded by larger-than-
life characters, her powerful
imagination transforms into
magical powers and inspirational
dreams as she searches for a
better life.

Smith, Ingram leading Scotties
By Mike Brandt Lovingly Remembering
The Glasgow golf teams had a busy weekend last
week. The Scotties played 54 holes of golf in a four day
span. First it was the Glasgow Invite Friday, followed
by Malta Saturday and Conrad Monday.
The Scotties have been terrors on the golf course
this season. At Sunnyside Golf and Country Club the
Scotties finished with a 348 to win the tournament,
followed by Malta with a 366. At Marian Hills Country
Club in Malta, the Scotties had a 336 with Malta
following behind by 46 strokes, then at Pondera Golf
Course in Conrad they had a 333. Cut Bank had a 344
and Conrad 366.
Riley Smith and Keigan Ingram have been leading
the Scotties. Smith and Ingram tied for second at their
home meet with an 81. Eli Feezell followed with a 90
for fifth, Carter Hoerster had a 96 for 10th, and Connor Lyanna Rae VanSickle
Koski 16th with a 100. 7/30/2020 – 5/4/2021
Smith carded a 75 to win the Malta tournament, Lyanna’s smile was so magical;
Feezell was second with an 81, Ingram sixth with an 87, it was so contagious!
Hoerster eighth with a 93, and Koski 12th with a 102.
The senior duo of Smith and Ingram had another Grandma Sharleen Clark
good day in Conad where they were part of a four-way Great-Aunt Doris Leader
tie for first with a 77. Kellen Mayer of Choteau and
Shane Barcus of Cut Bank were in the tie. Feezell was
close behind with an 81 for sixth, Hoerstser and Koski
had a 98 each.
The young Glasgow girls team is getting
valuable experience this year. They have been led by
sophomores Laynee Simpson and Allie Palm. Simpson
was sixth at her home meet with a 118, Palm had a 130
for 11th, eighth-grader Mia Peterson a 133 for 13th,
and freshman Anika Smith a 154 for 14th.
In Malta it was Palm with a 116 for sixth place,
Simpson had a 119 for ninth, Peterson 124 for 10th,
and Smith 148 for 11th.
In Conrad Simpson had 116 for eighth, Palm and
Peterson a 120 each, and Smith 130.
The girls were third at the home meet with a 380, second

&
in Malta with a 507 and third in Conrad with a 533.
The Scotties were in Wolf Point today for the Polar Performance
Invite and host another tournament Friday. This is the Concrete
last time for the Glasgow fans to see the Scotties in Construction
action. • Residential &

Walleye Spawn
Update II, May 2
by Fort Peck Reservoir
Biologist Heath Headley
The walleye trap
netting and egg collection
effort is in full swing in
the Big Dry Arm of Fort
Peck Reservoir!
Water surface
temperatures have
bumped up slightly to
around 50-53 degrees
throughout our trap
netting locations. These
are still VERY favorable
for walleye spawning
activity.
These warm and
stable water temperatures
have continued to push
the walleye up shallow and
into our trap nets. Once
again, a large portion of Colby, Will, and Selby Mulder doing some walleye wrangling. The FWP Region 6
the females we’ve been Fisheries crew says, “Thanks for the help!” Photos by FWP
capturing have been ripe and releasing their eggs. In
fact, we’ve been able to bring in over 100 ripe female
walleye each day over the last two days.
However, we have observed a few more spent
female walleye over the last couple of days as well. It’s
likely this will be a very short and condensed walleye
spawning season based on the large numbers of walleye
we’re seeing all at once.
On Monday, we collected a little over 18 million
eggs from 112 ripe female walleye. We also had another
egg collection Tuesday from 114 females which should
give us close to another 15 million more eggs.
These three egg collection efforts should put us
a little over 50 million walleye eggs total thus far for
the 2023 season. This has been an amazing amount of
eggs collected in a very short period of time and quite
unexpected considering the later than normal start.
Stay tuned!
At right: Using turkey feathers, Colby Mulder assists
with the delicate process of stirring the eggs during the
fertilization process. It’s a fascinating and educational
experience by volunteers of all ages to help with the
walleye spawn.
