4.0 Methodology
4.1.1 When off-loading, pipes shall be lowered to the ground either manually or with
mechanical aid like crane depending on the quantity of the pipe and should not
be dropped to the ground.
4.1.2 Pipes shall be stacked on a flat surface free from any sharp objects.
4.1.3 Timber supports of a least 75x75 mm shall be placed beneath the pipes with
spacing not greater than 1.8 meters. Closer supports will be required for sizes
below 160mm dia...
4.1.4 Pipes shall not be stored under direct sunlight to avoid ultra-violet degradation.

4.1.5 Larger pipe sizes of thicker class shall always be placed at the bottom.
4.1.6 Materials required for installation shall be carefully moved / transferred to the
location only upon the instructions of the Site Engineer.
“First of all ensure that clearances from the Main contractor & other trades at
site are obtained and site is ready for the installations.”
4.2.1 Only specified and approved make of PPR Pipe and Fittings shall be used.
4.2.2 Installation shall be as per approved shop drawings and as per Manufacturer’s
Recommendation.
4.2.3 Horizontal pipe work shall be laid level as per the recommendations
laid by the Consultant, Manufacturer and concerned local authority.
4.2.4 All pipes and fittings shall be new / unused with required length and size as
indicated in the approved shop drawings.
4.2.5 Fittings by local fabrication from approved supplier shall be used where
non-standard fittings are required after approval obtained from the
concerned authority/ Consultant.
4.2.6 Provide correct size of clamps with optimum spacing as stipulated in the
Specification and as recommended by the Manufacturer.
4.2.7 Check & cut 4 to 5 cm of the pipe from each end if necessary to prevent cracks
appearing on the pipe that may have been damaged during unloading time.
4.2.8 Clean the inner & outer surface of the pipe & fitting. Make sure it is clean and
free of any oily substance.
4.2.9 Mark the length of the pipe to be inserted into the fitting (socket length).

Connect the welding (heater) machine to the electric supply and wait till the
green light blinks. Now the welding temperature ( 260°C ) has reached.
4.2.10 Heat the pipe up to the marked as describe above and after heating push the
pipe & fitting together smoothly & evenly to form an acceptable joint into
position.
4.2.11 Any minor adjustment / correction has to be made with in 4 sec. after
making the joint.
4.2.12 If the joint is to be imbedded in the block work and for vertical drops in areas
like toilet and kitchen, make all joints for the whole section in the worktable
&install in the block work after 5 min.
4.2.13 After completing the pipe work, installation has to be tested at a pressure
of 1.5 times the working pressure.
5.0 Testing
PRESSURE TEST
5.1 All joints on testing pipe line shall be inspected with a witness by the Engineer prior to testing
and shall be exposed to be able to access during the test.
5.2 Test for water supply piping shall be tested at 1.5 times the operating pressure, without
exceeding pressure rating of piping system materials and water shall be kept in test
boundary for at least 24 hours.
5.3 A calibrated pressure gauge shall be connected to at one end of the length to be tested while all
other ends shall be plugged.
5.4 A Pressure Test Report, PL-01 shall be filled up to be attached to the IR and a joint inspection
shall be performed.

approval of the Engineer.
6.0 Safety:
6.1 All personnel who are engaged in the erection activities shall follow safety rules and they will
use the required personal protective equipment like helmet, safety shoes, eye protection safety
