our commercial grain storage silos. With its easy installation, optimum grain protection
and superior strength, a TORNUM silo is a very cost effective investment.
The TORNUM silos, hopper as well as flat bottomed, are available in a wide range of sizes.
This gives TORNUM the flexibility we need to custom design a complete TORNUM grain
management system to meet the requirement of our customers.
Our silos are designed for storage of free flowing granular material and are dimensioned
according to DIN 1055 standard. Roofs and wall sheets are designed for superior corrosion
resistance.
All wall sheets are manufactured from high quality galvanized steel, 450 gr/m² (both
sides). Roofs are manufactured from Aluzinc AZ 185.
A TORNUM silo comes with a 10-year limited warranty
for the wall sheets – one of the longest in the industry.

Design Features

Silos up to model 10 are delivered with ribbed roof, Model 11-27 silos feature a galvanized steel support frame roof,
with roof inspection hatch. with roof inspection hatch as standard.

Shallow form (119 mm pitch) corrugated

sidewall sheets are manufactured from high One single ring access door with hot

Standard hopper supplied complete with sidewall sheets to ground level. For access to hopper outlet one single ring
access door is delivered as standard. As optional a 2 x 1 m access frame in sidewall for access to hopper outlet is
available. Having the sidewall sheets to ground level provides added benefit as the hopper and any unloading system
is well protected from rain, wind etc. 45˚ hopper delivered as standard, 60˚ hopper available on request.

External galvanized stiffeners/anchors are supplied

in a variety of specifications dependant upon the
silo diameter and height. Stiffeners are joined by
formed fishplates.

Design Criteria & Standard Specifications

The cylindrical barrel is designed for storage of free flowing granular material with a maximum density based on maize at 900 kg/m3, friction angle of
30 degrees and angle of repose of 28 degrees, and on barley a density of 625 kg/m3, friction angle of 27 degrees, according to DIN 1055.

 Hopper Silos
Standard hopper silos are supplied with sidewall sheets to ground level. Having the
hopper and any unloading system protected from rain, wind etc. provides added
benefit. 45˚ hopper delivered as standard, 60˚ hopper available on request.
Hopper silos designed according to DIN 1055 standard. Roofs and wall sheets are
designed for superior corrosion resistance.

 Ladders and Platforms
Various width catwalks, access ladders and rest platforms available. All catwalks,
ladders and platforms are manufactured from galvanized steel and are designed
according to European standards.

Double manhole eaves platform and ladder to catwalk. Roof ladder complete with steps and handrails.

Wall ladder with safety cage and rest platform. Standard catwalk width 1.2 m, 0.6 m wide walkway designed for 120 tph conveyer. Catwalks
with a width of up to 1.6 m for 200 tph conveyers available on request.

Temperature Monitoring
TORNUM offers a sophisticated temperature monitoring
system. Reading of temperature cables can be done through
a simple handheld instrument or complete PC-controlled
grain management system.
