RAIN ALARM

OBJECTIVE

The ultimate goal of this project is to detect rain using a transistor.

ABSTRACT

Water conservation and good use are important. Here is a simple project that will
sound an alarm when it rains, allowing us to take action to gather rainwater and store it for
later use. We can increase the groundwater level with the aid of underwater recharge
technologies by saving this rainwater and using it. When the rain detector senses rain, it
sounds an alarm. The desired result was achieved in various aspects of using rainwater
detectors in irrigation, home automation, electronics, vehicles, and other fields. Here is a
low-cost rainwater detector circuit that is simple and effective.

INTRODUCTION

The rain alarm is an application that detects rainwater and sounds an alarm
when it is detected. This thesis describes a simple and reliable sensor module that may be
available in the market at low cost.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENT/DESCRIPTION

1. Transistor - BC547
2. LED
3. Buzzer
4. Battery - 9v
5. Connecting wires

CIRCUIT/COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONS

Supply voltage (VCC) 9v

Supply current (VCC = +5 V) 450 mAH

DESIGN ISSUES

If the water is fall on the board, the board is damaged and we want to replace
that. The water continuosly fall on the board the buzzer will sound continuosly.

APPROACH / PROCEDURE / METHODOLOGY

Step 1: Transistor Base and Collector is connect to the PCB board.

Step 2: 9V Battery +ve terminal connect to the collector region.
Step 3: The Buzzer +ve terminal connect to the emitter region.
Step 4: LED +ve terminal connect to the Buzzer -ve terminal.
Step 5: LED -ve terminal and battery -ve terminal connected together.
Step 6: If the water fall on the PCB board sense and make sound and LED is GLOW.

3
Conclusion:
When Rain detector rain it trigger the alarm. Rain detector alarm efficient way to stop
irrigation whenever rain occurs. It is also used in home automation by users to reclaim their
belongings, cover windows.

APPENDIX

This circuit used for detection for rain. The following circuit may be used for detecting
the presence of water too.

BC547 is usually used for current amplifier, quick switching and pulse-width modulation (PWM).
Therefore, if you need to control the speed of a motor or actuator in some of your projects, you can
simply use this transistor to achieve it.

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device,[1] which may be mechanical, electromechanical,

or piezoelectric (piezo for short). Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm
devices, timers, train and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke.
