walls of the containers tend to weaken when the corrugated sheets are removed.
The lower-level acts as a living-dining room with an outdoor balcony. That space leads to the upstairs
master bedroom and porch. The top container has two functions, the master bedroom with a panoramic window where the user
finds solitude in the vast and beautiful Himalayan scenery, and also an upper-level deck for morning
routines and rituals in the fresh air of the surroundings. Even though the harsh site faces north the living-
dining and the bedroom is flooded with direct sun and the roof terrace has a great evening sun
location.

One of Mumbai’s most well-known beaches is Madh Island Beach. The beach is not just a well-known
tourist destination, but it’s also one of the state’s cleanest. On Mumbai’s northwestern shore, this stun-
ning beach is actually made up of a collection of tiny villages and farmlands. Mangroves line the
beachfront, which not only enhances its natural beauty but also divides the beach from the mainland.

The design for the house was mainly decided by the plot area i.e. 30x40m to build a row house.
Considering the FSI in Mumbai, there was not a lot of space to build a house for a family of four which
also accommodates for parking spaces. Multi-use and intersecting spaces are the focus of the interior
in order to maximize the utility of the limited footprint.
In a modern and stressful day’s work in a city
like Mumbai, families often want their home
to be in a place where the house greets them
with warmth and relaxation. Madh Island in
Mumbai is great place to build such homes
since it faces the sea, with plots enveloped in
tropical palm trees. Where you can see the
sea waves crash onto the beach as you brew
your early morning coffee or see the moon
rise over the horizon as you prepare dinner.
Although, Mumbai is not a place where plots
of lands are readily available and if they are,
they can be very expensive. Which is what ties
the brief for this house together; a modern day
compact house that envelopes a family of two
adults and two children, which is exactly why
intersecting space design was the answer to
the design constraints. With the above design
criteria, it was decided that the house would
be raised on a platform to accommodate
parking as well as the Battery and Inverter
for the Solar Panels installed on a roof. The
house accommodates a Master Bedroom, a
Children’s Bedroom, two bathrooms, a Study
as well as a Living-Dining-Kitchen Area as you
enter the house. The courtyard on the ground
floor is a space to connect family members,
has a flexible function.

there are a few banquet halls nearby,

• The Budget for this project set by the Client is 9 Crores (or 1.15 Million
USD) although the client has specified that he would take a loan if the
cost and expense crosses the initial budget limit
• The Banquet Hall(s) would be the primary source of revenue for this
business model.
• All halls combined to accomodate 1000-1500 visitors.
• The Client has taken responsibility for all business operations associated
with the Banquet Hall.
• The Halls would be accompanied with 10-12 rooms for lodging
purposes that can be availed by those renting out the halls.
• The price range per plate is Rs.1000-Rs.1200.
• A Quick Service Restaurant would also be a part of the project; the
designted areas would be rented out to a franchise. (This provides a
year-round revenue as the revenue generation
of a banquet hall lies between 100-150 days of the year, i.e, mainly
during the wedding season)
• The respective franchise would be responsible for all business
operations associated with the Quick Service Restaurant.

My interests lie in Architectural, Landscape and Astro Fine Art photography, over the past several years I have been spending time to
grow in these spheres of photographhy in particular.
Street photography is
essentially where my journey
began although, for me it
was rather difficult to create
portraits and therefore I
chose to not only focus on a
subject but also capture the
essence of what they are
doing and where they might
be. Monochromatic formats
have allowed me to achieve
that by isolating subjects not
only by highlighting them but
also inverting them into the
shadows of the world.
Astrophotography was something that I picked up in late October of 2019. Astrophotography is something that I grew fond of each and everyday and have been
trying to incorporate it not only in my landscape photography but also in my architectural shoots. With the onset of the lockdown in 2020, it allowed me to focus on
this particular aspect in my craft and learn it with a deeper context. Although at first the stars seemed pretty, slowly they do start forming patterns in star trails and
other photographs such as the Orion Nebula photograph on the top.
