ORIGIN
It is big leaf lupine, lupine polyphyllus which originated in western united states . this plant was
introduced to moine as a landscaping plant and quickly got out of control.
HABITAT
They prefer open areas (Including gravel) grassy alpine slopes, moist tundra, heath and
woodland, lupines are well adapted to northern climate and can enrich soil that have low nitrogen
level.
MEDICINAL IMPORTANCE
Lupine flower extract stimulates collagen and elastin production.
Lupeol which is extracted from seed of lupine flowers boosts collagen synthesis which
provides elasticity and firmness.
Lupeol belongs to pentacyclic triterpenes which are known for their anti-oxidant and
anti-inflammatory arthritis.
Yellow lupin is an herb. The seed and up ground parts used make medicine.
People take yellow Lupine for urinary tract disorder, fluid retention and worms. Also
sometimes directly apply on skin for skin ulcer.
ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE
The high nitrogen yield of lupin can be exploited by using them in rotation with grasses
and cereal crops. Therefore, it plays an important role as source of organic fertilizer to
