I associate myself with musicals, plays, and Broadway shows, which are some of the arts I personally
appreciate. I attached a picture above of The Lion King Broadway, which my family and I saw in a
similar production in Singapore 10 years ago. Plays and Broadway musicals are meaningful to me
because I myself am fond of singing and dancing. Therefore, I do appreciate and enjoy people who
perform on stage, especially when they are singing and dancing as well.
I also had experience of performing on stage when I was in elementary school. Each year, we would
perform various stories and actual musicals or plays, such as The Wedding Singer, Cats The Musical,
Oliver Twist, and a lot more. The picture attached below is from one of my favorite plays we did, which is
The Addams Family, where I played Wednesday Addams. I had a lot of fun rehearsing, singing, and
dancing with my fellow classmates, and this play was one of my memorable ones because I won the
"Outstanding Performer" Award together with some of my other classmates.
In conclusion, with my experience of both watching a musical (The Lion King Musical) and performing
on stage (The Addams Family), I can say that these musicals, plays, and Broadway shows are not just art,
but spectacularly beautiful, especially when you are already on stage, performing in front of an audience.
This type of art, in my opinion, is where people can tell stories through body language and movements,
which most people love to see. I hope art like this—musicals, plays, and Broadway shows—can be widely
introduced in the Philippines. An example of this is the Huling El Bimbo Musical that was aired in the
year 2020.
