M.M. 30 Marks T.T. 1 hr
Q1-Q7 of 2 marks, Q8-Q11 of 3 marks & Q12 of 4 marks
AB + CD = AP + PB + CR + RD = AS + BQ + CQ + DS [Using (1)]
= (AS + SD) + (BQ + QC) = AD + BC
⇒ AB + CD = AD + BC
3. From a point Q, the length of the tangent to a circle is 24 cm and the distance of Q from the centre
is 25 cm. Find the radius of the circle.
Ans: Using Pythagoras theorem, we get OQ2 = QT2 + OT2
5. Find the HCF of 96 and 404 by the prime factorisation method. Hence, find their LCM.
Ans: The prime factorisation of 96 and 404 gives :
96 = 25 × 3, 404 = 22 × 101
Therefore, the HCF of these two integers is 22 = 4.
LCM of these two integers is 25 x 3 x 101 = 9696
6. Explain why 7 × 11 × 13 + 13 and 7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 + 5 are composite numbers.
Ans: Given 7 × 11 × 13 + 13 = 13 × (7 × 11 + 1) = 3 × 78
This number is multiple of two integers. Hence it has more than two factors and it is a composite
number.
Similarly 7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 + 5 = 5 (7 × 6 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 + 1) = 5 × 1009
This number is multiple of two integers. Hence it has more than two factors and it is a composite
number.
7. A card is drawn at random from a well shuffled pack of 52 playing cards. The probability of
getting (i) a red face card (ii) neither king nor queen card
Ans: Total number of cards = 52
(i) Number of red face cards = 6
Required probability = 6/52 = 3/26
(ii) Number of cards neither king nor queen = 52 – 8 = 44
Required probability = 44/52 = 11/13
8. If the median of the distribution given below is 28.5, find the values of x and y.

Ans:
11. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend supplementary angles at
the centre of the circle.
Ans: Let ABCD be the quadrilateral circumscribing a circle at the center O such that it touches the
circle at the point P,Q,R,S. Let join the vertices of the quadrilateral ABCD to the center of the
circle
12. Prove that "If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in
distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio."
Ans: Correct Given, To Prove, Constructions with Figure – 2 marks
Correct Proof – 2 marks
