Exp 2: Graphical Synthesis of Planar mechanisms

Task 1: Design a fourbar Grashof crank-rocker to give 70° of rocker rotation with equal time forward
and back, from a constant speed motor input. (Additional details: follower link length is 40 mm and
coupler length is 80 mm). In addition to the above task, find out the toggle positions of the mechanism,
minimum and maximum transmission angles of the mechanism.

L2(Input 22.9431

ratio of 1.25 (ratio of forward and backward motions), from a constant speed motor input.

Task 4: Design a four bar Grashof crank-rocker to give 120° of rocker rotation with a time ratio of 1.3
(ratio of forward and backward motions), from a constant speed motor input where one of its limiting
positions has a transmission angle of 80°. In addition to the above task, find out the toggle (limiting)
positions of the mechanism, minimum and maximum transmission angles of the mechanism.

L1 (fix length) 95.7818

L2(input length) 13.8530
L3(Coupler 97.2593

L4 (output length) 30 (assumed)
Max. trans, angle 80
Min. trans. angle 17
Linkage is following grashof’s creiteria and shortest link is adjacent to fixed link so it will act as a crank
and motion will be CRANK-ROCKER
