NO quality quantity trade-off in Israel as most of the basic needs are met by the state
Since the nutritional outcomes for children with eligible grandfathers were not statistically different
from those without, this suggests that having an eligible grandfather had no effect. The other answer
options are all correct. These findings provide some evidence that women are more likely than men to
spend extra money on their family. Since savings are not different between grandmothers and
grandfathers, this shows that the spending habits of the grandfather are not due to fewer savings.
Another interesting finding from the study was that the beneficial outcomes for grandchildren are only
seen when the grandmother is their mother’s mother, suggesting that the gender line plays a role. The
results from this study clearly demonstrate that the family is not unitary. If the family was unitary, we
should see no difference in the effect between when the grandfather is eligible compared to when the
grandmother is eligible.
