    Indonesia is the largest archipelago country in the


    world with almost 5.8 million km2 of ocean, three-
    quarters of the country's total area. There are more

    Indonesia's geographical condition in the form of an
    archipelago makes sea transportation the foundation

    From the data of the Ministry of Transportation of The


    Republic of Indonesia, in 2021, there were 98,123
    Indonesian-flagged vessels consisting of 48,779 cargo PORTS
    vessels, 4,772 passenger vessels and 44,572 fishing

    vessels. Meanwhile, there are about 4,059 shipping

    companies.

    The number of ports reached 3,227 consisting of 1,152


    special port units, 930 terminal port units for their own
    interests, 70 port units managed by State-Owned
    Enterprises and 1,075 ports managed by the Ministry of SHIPBUILDERS
    Transportation's technical implementation unit.

    There are more than 200 shipbuilding companies
    throughout Indonesia with the capability to produce
    various types of new vessels with a capacity of up to
    30,000 DWT. Numbers of vessels potentially need to be
    renewed because they are over 25 years old based on
    data from the Ministry of Industry of Republic of VESSELS TO RENEW
    Indonesia has reached 1,684 units.
