finished assessing the profile, he is rushed to the hospital due to a cut he had gotten from a rose

bush before he accessed the house. Because of the cut, the anthrax was fast to act on his system

Criminal Minds belongs to the category of crime fiction in the subgenre of detective

fiction because it focuses on investigating a crime that is the investigation about an anthrax

poison to kill people in the local park. Crime fiction can be traced back to the 1920s, while

detective fiction first appeared. The crime fiction in the 1930s to the 1950s took off seriously in

America. The first crime fiction movie was known as Sherlock Holmes perplexed in 1900 and

was released in 1903. It was a 45 seconds clip that was only shown to one person in hand–

cranked machines as it featured Sherlock Holmes. A crime movie or series is inspired by the way

in which criminals behave in a corrupted manner, bank robbers, outside law operators, thugs, and

underworld characters. The characters are mainly known for creating attacks kill and steal. All

these actions of crime often lead to violence.

The difference between criminal fiction movies from the past is a small cloud watched

them compared to the recent criminal functions, which are more advanced due to technology and

globalization. This movie, especially Criminal Minds, is watched today because people are

excited to learn about human behavior, whereby it is human nature to get excited by other

people's actions and, on the other side, get horrified by how humans behave49. In relation to

Criminal Minds season 4, episode 24, Dr. Spencer is seen locking himself up in the house that

had the anthrax poison and was so much determined to come up with a solution that would stop

the spread of the poison.

The Criminal Minds series’ target audience is the young adults and the older adults, from

the age of 16years and accommodating to both boys and girls as it has drama and action. The

drama part can be seen when Morgan jokes with Dr. Spencer about the jello. The action can be

observed when Dr. Spencer takes time to know about the intention of the terrorist when he

released the anthrax poison. The series applies to the target audience as it warns on the effects of

terrorism and the damage it causes. It discourages crime and the need to show empathy to people

around our environment.

When Dr. Spencer called his friend to record a voicemail for his mum if he did not make

it out of the house shows how the target audience would panic in case such an incident occurs.

The episode shows the importance of protecting other people if they notice danger. Dr. Spencer

saved Morgan from inhaling the anthrax poison, which would have meant there could be no one

to alert other colleagues to come to the rescue as fast as possible. The audience can get from the

episode a fantasy; for example, it is only realistic that one cannot risk one's life to inhale poison

in research interest. Instead, in reality, one goes on set with protective gear to save their life50.
