Welcome
Here Comes The Color
all is a feeling as well as a season. Its a time to mentally shift gears as we wind down from the summer and begin anticipating the new school year ahead. For the first time in months, the thought crosses our minds that the holidays are just around the corner! Autumn also is the season to spend as much time outdoors as our busy schedules will allow, taking advantage of what many people think of as the best weather of the year. Most parts of the world dont experience fall the way we do here in northwest Ohio. When you think about it, its really a very small part of the United States that enjoys what we take for granted every year the colorful display of deciduous trees, the chill in the evening air, the crunch of leaves on the trails. To help you make the most of the season, Metroparks has again launched Autumn Adventure, our fall walking program designed to give you a great excuse (as if you needed one!) to explore the prairies, woods, stream banks and savannas of your Metroparks. See the center spread of this Program Guide for a list of trails in this years program, as well as a schedule of group programs where you can walk with a naturalist. Also in this guide, find details about another Toledo tradition Holidays in the Manor House. For eight days, the halls of the Wildwood Manor House will be decked with glistening decorations, courtesy of hundreds of volunteers. Remember, it only lasts from the first Sunday through the second Sunday in December. Admission is free. Watch our website, MetroparksToledo.com, and our Facebook page, MyMetroparksPage, for timely news and reminders as the colors of fall and the holidays get closer. As the record heat of the summer fades into memory, we hope you will find time to experience the beauty of our regions natural areas in all their colorful gloryin your Metroparks. Scott Carpenter Director of Public Relations
