1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 General

The Yadavaran oil field (previously referred to as Kushk and Hosseinieh Fields), is
located some 70 km to the southwest of Ahwaz and is near the Iran-Iraq border in
southwest Iran. The field is very remote from existing NIOC infrastructure and is
spread out over a large geographical area stretching some 45 km from north to south
and 15 km from east to west.

Yadavaran oil field will be developed from two gathering manifold sites, one situated
in each of the Kushk and Hosseinieh areas. The produced crude will be transported to
a Gas/Oil Separation Unit (GOSU) and Central Treatment Export Plant (CTEP). The
crudes (contains heavy and light oil) are processed separately. The processed crude
and excess gas will be exported separately about 100 km away to the Ahwaz Booster
Station (ABS) and a tie-in point near ABS respectively.
Main facilities will include production well sites, flow lines, manifolds, infield lines,
GOSU/CTEP, Oil/Gas export pipelines and support infrastructure facilities.

Yadavaran Early Production System (EPS) is a part of the surface development of the
Yadavaran field designed to achieve early production of 20,000 BOPD of light oil to be
delivered to the existing Darquain Production Facility, approximately 45Km south of
the CTEP.
1.2 Scope

This document covers the minimum requirements for the design and selection of
Piping classes for Yadavaran Field Development Project including early production.
Facilities covered by this specification are all within the property limits as defined in
ASME B31.3.

3.0 TECHNICAL NOTES

3.1 General
In general the pipe wall thicknesses have been calculated to the maximum allowable
flange pressures in accordance with ASME B16.5 at ambient temperature. However,
depending on the pipe size (above 30”) and the quantity required, pipe wall
thicknesses may be calculated using the actual design conditions for that piping
system. This approach shall be reviewed during detail engineering with prior approval
of the COMPANY on a case by case basis.

Carbon steel and LTCS pipes, wrought fittings shall be seamless up to and including
400 mm nominal size. Stainless steel and Duplex SS pipes, wrought fittings shall be
seamless up to and including 150 mm nominal size.
Flange joint management procedure to be developed during detailed engineering,
inclusive of bolt, torque & tensioning procedure.
3.2 Fluid Service
All piping systems designed in accordance with ASME B31.3.

Fluids and gases in service that are determined to be Immediately Dangerous to Life
and Health (IDLH) shall be subject to the following requirements;
a. The design and layout of the piping is to minimize impact and shock loads.
Detrimental vibration, pulsation and resonance effects shall be avoided or
minimized.

b. Pressure/temperature variations shall not be allowed. The most severe coincident

pressure/temperature conditions shall determine the pressure and temperature
conditions.
c. All fabrication and joints shall be in accordance with IPS-C-PI-240 Construction
Standard for Plant Piping Systems.

d. Miter bends, non metallic branch connections, flanges and valves shall not be
allowed.

e. Special consideration shall be given to valve design to prevent stem leakage to the
environment. Sour service valves are to include low emission design with low
emission packing.

Threaded connections are not permitted in Process piping.

Wafer type Valves are not to be used for process piping.

3.3 SOUR Service

Page 1 of each piping class identifies SOUR conditions for which the pipe class is
suitable.

For wet H2S, moderate and Low severity CS, LTCS SOUR classes-PWHT is required for
all welds that exceed 12.7 mm weld thickness.
For wet H2S, high severity CS, LTCS SOUR classes- 100% PWHT of all welds is required
irrespective of weld thickness.
B04 PWHT is not required for SS-316, Alloy 625, Duplex and Super Duplex piping classes.
3.4 Material
Piping bulk materials shall be supplied in accordance with IPS requirements.
Valves shall comply with the requirements of IPS-M-PI-110 Material & Equipment
Standard for Valves.
For normal Carbon steel pipe, fittings and flanges that need impact testing as per
ASME B31.3, it is allowed to use LTCS Pipe, fittings and flanges instead.
Buried CS piping shall be protected in accordance with IPS-E-TP-270.

4.0 IDENTIFICATION OF PIPING CLASSES

Each piping class is identified from two alphabetical characters which precede a two
digit figure, e.g. AN04.

The first alphabetical character indicates pressure rating of flange, i.e. ANSI or PN
classes as follows:

Character A For ANSI rating PN 20 (150 #)

Character C For ANSI rating PN 50 (300 #)

Character F For ANSI rating PN 100 (600 #)

Character G For ANSI rating PN 150 (900 #)

Character H For ANSI rating PN 250 (1500 #)

Character J For ANSI rating PN 420 (2500 #)

B04
Character K For API rating (10000 #)

The second alphabetical character indicates material group selected as follows:

Character M For LTCS

Character N For Carbon Steel

Character P For Duplex, Super Duplex Stainless steel

Character S For Stainless Steel – 316 /316L/304/304L

Character T For Aluminium and Aluminium Base Alloy

Character V For Copper and Copper Alloys

Character W For Nickel and Nickel Base Alloys

Character X For Non-Metallic Material

Character Z For Carbon Steel with Lining

Last two digit figure indicates differing service condition (e.g. process fluid being
handled and service temperature limits). The figure has not been selected on the basis of
specific purpose and as such is not meaningful. However, piping classes which have
identical figure with the same material group are for the same service condition.

Example for identification of piping class is given below:

Piping Class AN21 is compiled from:

A for ANSI rating PN20 (150 #)

N for Material Group Carbon Steel

21 for Service condition related to this class

Similarly, piping Classes CN21 and FN21 are for ANSI rating 300 # and 600 # respectively.
Also both piping classes indicate the same material group and service.
