The study’s main focus is to investigate why most of the children nowadays like to play
virtual games rather than the traditional Filipino games. It will determine what games they
commonly played when they were young and the games they are playing nowadays. The reasons
why they play those games will also be determined through this study.the game they prefer to
play nowadays. It will be conducted from February 11 and 18 at Brgy. Sala, Tanauan City. The
respondents of this study will be randomly selected twenty (20) children aged 11&12 years old.
This study will not cover the other factor such as the respondent’s economic status, the gender,
family structure and treatments for those kids that are now addicted to virtual games.
The importance of this study is to identify the different factors that cause the respondents
to play virtual games rather than the traditional Filipino games. And also to identify if the
traditional Filipino games are still being played by Filipino children in this present days. This
will also be helpful for Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) in the
way that it will understand the reasons on why most of the Filipino children nowadays prefer to
play virtual games rather than traditional Filipino games. They will have more knowledge to
preserve and enrich the traditional Filipino games as part of the Philippines’ culture. Teachers
will also benefit because as the second parents of the children, the teacher will able to know and
understand the different factors why the Filipino children of this present days are more probable
to play virtual games rather than the traditional Filipino games. This information will help them
to have a better guidance to their students. Families of every Filipino child who will be able to
read this study will be knowledgeable enough about the reasons on why the Filipino
child/children prefer more to play virtual games than traditional Filipino games. And lastly the
result of this study will help the future researchers in their research on the different factors that
cause children to be more likely to play virtual games rather than the traditional Filipino games.
