Introduction

1 Introduction

This document is a user guide of power system controller for Enclosure 6150.

Currently the controller supports the software of version from V1.02.

The controller is a DC power system. It communicates with the other units of

the DC power system and manages alarm handling, data processing, voltage
control, etc.

2 Main Functions

This section describes main functions of the controller.

2.1 Display Function

With a 128 × 64 LCD screen and three optical indicators, the user interface
can display operating parameters, operating status, alarm status, setup
parameters, system configuration data, and control parameters.

2.2 Multiple Monitoring Functions

The ESC 03 01 can support the following monitoring functions on the power
system on a RS485 bus.

• Remote acquiring analog signal

The ESC 03 01 can get the analog signal of the system in real time
through the controller.

• Remote acquiring digital signal

The ESC 03 01 can get the digital signal of the system in real time through
the controller.

• Remote configuring digital value

The ESC 03 01 can realize the functions such as switch on or off rectifier,
switch between system boost charge and float charge, switch system
control mode, turn off alarms and start or stop battery test.

2.3 Password Level And Operation Authorities

Users have the authority to conduct the output control and parameter settings
on the controller after inputting the correct password.

information, control output and
change general parameters, plus
operation authorities such as
changing system type, changing
energy saving parameter, resetting
system, resetting password,
modifying password and accessing
serial port download mode.

2.4 Alarm Function

The controller can provide optical alarms for system faults. Different optical
lights indicate different alarms. The alarm information will be reported to ESC
03 01.

There are three levels of alarms:

• CRITICAL alarm (red light)

• MAJOR alarm (red light)

• OBSERVATION alarm (yellow light)

Users are allowed to set relay output, and the severity level of each alarm
according to desired configuration.

Users have access to history alarm logs. History alarm logs include alarm
type, stat time and end time. The history alarms of the controller are stored in
cyclic order. 200 alarms will be recorded, above that, the oldest alarm(s) will
be cleared automatically.

2.5 Battery Management Function

The controller is designed with automatic battery management to efficiently
prolong battery life.

Automatic boost charge and float charge

The purpose of float charge is to keep the batteries charged during normal
operation.

The purpose of boost charge is to top up the batteries after a deep discharge
and to make sure that undercharged cells are fully charged. Boost charge
voltage is higher than float charge voltage.

14/1553-LZA 701 6011/1 Uen B | 2017-06-02 3

Power System Controller User Guide

Automatic boost charge happens when:

• Charge current is higher than Auto Boost Current and lasts for more than
3 minutes; Or

• Battery state of charge is lower than Auto Boost Capacity

Boost charge is disabled when any of the following circumstances appears:

• AC is undervoltage or power is off

• Main loads or priority loads disconnect

• Batteries fuse is tripped

• Rectifier communication fails

• At least one battery has extreme high or low temperature

• Auto boost charge is disabled

Cyclic boost charge happens when AC power is stable and battery has been
in float charge status for a long time.

2.6 Low Voltage Disconnect Function

The controller can disconnect the load or battery in case of under voltage.

LVD1 (Load Low Voltage Disconnect, normally called LLVD) refers to when AC
Power is off and the system is supplied by batteries, power system
automatically disconnects the Main Load (ML) to prolong the operational time
for the Priority Load (PL).

LVD2 (Battery Low Voltage Disconnect, normally called BLVD) refers to when
AC Power is off and the system is supplied by batteries, power system
automatically disconnects the batteries to protect batteries from shortened
service life due to excessive discharge.

2.7 Energy-saving Management Function

The controller is designed with Energy-saving management function. In
energy-saving mode, the controller control some rectifiers to sleeping mode
and operate the remaining rectifiers in optimal efficiency to lower power
consumption. The system will automatically, shift the rectifiers in work and in
sleep cyclically. When battery current and load current change, the controller
will disable or enable some rectifiers according to actual status. Under all
circumstances, the system will have at least one rectifiers in work.

Table 6 shows energy-saving parameter settings.

2.8 Dry Contact Output Function

The controller has eight groups of dry contact outputs which can be correlated
with different alarm signals. In case of a system alarm, the monitoring unit
outputs alarm signal through configured dry contact. Each dry contact has
Normally Open (NO) and Normally Close (NC) connections. NO is set by
default. NO is of high resistance, and NC is of low resistance.

Alarm control contains two aspects: Voice Sign and Clear:History.

‘Voice Sign’ refers to the duration of audio indication of an alarm. Users can
set it into following options:

• open ('open' means the alarm voice will keep on until some key is
pressed)

• off

• 3min

• 10min

• 1h

• 4h

‘Clear:History’ refers to clear the corresponding alarm information saved in the

controller. Users can clear following alarm information:

• history alarm

• rectifier lost

• test

• short test

• energy-saving failure

• maintain
