HT Switchgear (6.

6KV) Isolation of Breaker -


 Identify the correct breaker to be isolated
 Wear Arc flash suit and face shield.
 Ensure the 6.6kv Mat is laid in front the breaker to be isolated.
 Ensure the VCB is in OFF condition .Ensure breaker OFF condition by indications
available both at breaker local panel (electrical indication “GREEN”) and at the
breaker (mechanical indication “OFF”)
 Ensure no current is being displayed on numerical relay or multifunction meter in any
of the phases. IF CURRENT IS DISPLAYED DO NOT RACK OUT THE
BREAKER .INFORM TO UCR.
 Switch off the DC control supply
 Remove control fuses from breaker control panel
 Insert the breaker rack in/out handle and rotate it anti clockwise till the breaker
comes into test position indicated in the label provided in the breaker cubicle (can be
viewed through the glass window in the breaker door)
 Open the breaker cubicle door
 Unscrew/Unclamp the breaker multipin plug and remove it from socket.
 In the test position ,close trip the breaker to discharge the spring and see its spring
in discharged condition .
 Lock the door .
 Place the danger tag and inform UCR.

HT Switchgear (6.6KV) Normalization of Breaker -


 Ensure PTW is cancelled /avail clearance for normalization
 Identify the correct breaker to be normalized
 Remove the danger tag.
 Unlock the breaker cubicle door.
 Ensure the VCB is in OFF condition and also ensure that the spring is in discharged
condition. This is indicated by the spring charged indication.
 Open the breaker cubicle door and insert the multipin plug into the socket and
screw/clamp it securely
 Insert the racking handle rotate clock wise till it reaches the SERVICE position. The
handle to be rotated till click sound is heard and further insertion is not possible.
 Insert all the fuse removed for the isolation and Switch on the DC supply .
 Charge the spring electrically (see spring charge indicator
 See the Relay supply is on and wait for some time for the relay to boot up . if no
abnormality is found ,inform UCR about the breaker readiness.

Note:1) In the live BUS condition, if BREAKER fails to trip electrically or through manual
knob provided right side of the cubicle door. DO NOT make any attempt to operate the the
breaker. In this case, if any attempt is to be made, then, it is only after ensuring the
shutdown of the respective BUS.

2)If the breaker close/trip upon spring charging and the phenomenon continues . Do not
panic, make the DC off or spring charging DC fuse removed when the breaker in off
condition to prevent further closing of the breaker and inform to UCR .

3)In case of prolong shut down of the breaker ,Insulation resistance of the poles to be taken
if found low breaker not to be inserted . Do not insert the breaker and inform to UCR .
