Personal Written Reflection

Description
When I was younger, I always played around with different ways to be creative. I drew
comics with a friend for a couple of years, then I moved on to making small games, or just
modeling ideas. During this time of making these small games, I had. I was particular about
what music I chose. Soon I started really imagining the idea of making the music instead of just
choosing what was available in the studio software. This was about 2018 to early 2019. I was in
grade 8 in a new school, which didn’t worry me as much as it would for others. In grade 8 we
were told about a final school project we would need to do in order to continue to high school.
It was an ADST project. We had to create a handcrafted project at school, it could be anything
and we had 3 full school days outside of school to get it done. After the passing of one of the
people who caught my attention to music in the first place Avicii, finding out he produced all his
music in the program “FL Studio” I went and downloaded the program’s demo. From that day, I
have been hooked.

Personal Relevancy + Skill Development + Self Awareness

I started working on the studio’s demo songs that you can play with and presented that.
After the project, I didn’t touch FL till the beginning of March of the next year. After that, I used
the program every day that year. I spent the quarantine just creating with no other goal but to
satisfy my sudden passion for the creation of music. I wasn’t careful, I’d throw in so many
sounds that expressed what I was feeling while trying to escape the discomfort the world was
in. Later that year in November I would put out a small instrumental mixtape titled “Let There
Be Moments” I improved so much that year. I can now write well-crafted songs that have good
arrangements. The music made me happy; I was finding new music as well. Inspired by far too
many new voices, a beautiful decison. Around this point and even now, I feel like I must be
doing this. Sometimes making a song is easy, and sometimes it’s the most challenging thing in
my life.

Self-Awareness (cont) + Future Connections

I’m going to become an artist. That’s been the mission since 2020. I’ve been writing new
music for a long time. If all goes according to my personal vision and plan. My “career” will
continue this Spring. My parents want me to go to a college which I’m a little “meh” on. But
Douglas seems cheap for what it came to offer, a studio, people who know more ins in outs of
music, etc. I don’t want a job as a composer for a boring company. I want to be on the main
stage of Coachella. I want that record deal. I want to become the next leader of a generation. If
I’m lucky enough, this project can get the attention of the music scene, underground or not, life
will slowly begin to change. I can prove that I’m for this life. If I wasn’t, I would have moved on
already.
