SCHOOL PROFILE
MADAM:
Greetings!
I am pleased to inform you that the senior high school programs (TVL – Information
and Communications Technology – Computer Systems Servicing, Industrial Arts –
Carpentry, and Home Economics – Bread and Pastry Production and Food and Beverage
Services) offered by our school are all doing well and that all Senior High School students
are training to pass the Competency Assessment in their respective fields of specialization
to garner a TESDA National Certificate as well as finishing all the competencies required of
the different SHS subjects.
However, it is the sentiment of some students from the Junior High School and
those living within the vicinity of the school that their desired courses are not being offered
in the Senior High School. Because of this, the students are either forced to take up a
track-strand-specialization that they have no interest in or simply drop-out of school
because they do not have the financial means for transportation to schools offering their
preferred courses.
In this regard, I would like to request the approval of your office to offer three
additional specializations to be offered in the Senior High School this School Year 2022-
2023:
Track: Academic
Strand: Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)
Track: Academic
Strand: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
Track: Technological-Vocational-Livelihood
Strand: Home Economics
Specialization: Cookery
I am very much hoping for your positive response regarding this request.
TERESITA M. TABOY
School Head
Bonfal National High School
The following are the justifications as to why the above track/strands should be
offered at Bonfal National High School:
1. The current strand being offered by Bonfal National High School, General
Academic Strand, has been recommended for abolishment since it was
designed so that indecisive learners can proceed with any college program.
However, learners under this strand are required by some Colleges to take
bridging programs for the subjects not taken during Senior High School.
This bridging course means an additional semester for the learners once
they enter College;
2. Most of the students wanting to enroll under the HUMSS and STEM tracks
are from the four biggest barangays in the Municipality of Bayombong:
Bonfal Proper, Bonfal West, Bonfal East and Sta. Rosa. Most of them are
from low-income families and travel to school on foot since they cannot
afford to pay for their transportation. Because of their eagerness to finish
senior high school and land a decent job, some of the students opted to take
the available tracks/strands even if they are not really inclined to it;
3. The students who sought out their dreams of pursuing their preferred tracks
in other schools ended up coming back to Bonfal National High School due
to localization and congestion of students in the schools offering their
desired tracks; and
II. Justification for the additional specialization, Cookery, under the Home
Economics Strand
