CGM system - Modular Cubicles CGM System
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
CGM cubicles form a system of small size modular equipment Connection between modules is provided by a simple, reliable
for Medium Voltage, each module having a specific function. patented system, in use in thousands of installations since 1993,
Every function has its own metal enclosure, which contains a which enables different configurations to be set up for
stainless steel tank filled with SF6 gas, in which the switching Transformer Substations with one or several transformers,
devices and busbar are kept. isolation, metering, etc. Connection of feeders and cables to
the transformer is also fast and safe.
The manufacturing process and the tests performed on every
cubicle manufactured guarantee that it will work under a given
range of temperature and pressure conditions. Full insulation
in SF6 makes the equipment pollution resistant, and able to
withstand even the flooding of the MV/LV substation. This
reduces maintenance requirements and helps to minimize
operating costs. FIELD OF APPLICATION
The CGM system designed for its use in Medium Voltage
networks, comes in different versions for different voltage and
current levels, as indicated below (1):
STANDARDS
This system of cubicles is designed to meet all the requirements
of International standards.

FUNCTIONS
TYPES OF FUNCTION
The CGM system offers users the following modular functions:
SCHEME
Denomination Description
CMP-V (Vacuum circuit breaker cubicle) This cubicle includes a vacuum circuit breaker and
a 3-position disconnector in series. It is fitted with
a multi-curve overcurrent relay RPGM enabling
the circuit breaker to be used for general or
transformer protection.
CMM (Metering cubicle) This cubicle is designed to contain the V.T.’s and
C.T.’s inside an enclosure compatible with other
CGM functions. Optionally, it is possible to install
energy counters.
DESIGNATION
Cubicles are designated as per above denominations plus the CGM-CML-24: 24 kV feeder cubicle.

will be understood as per list 2). For example: The initial CGM is sometimes omitted.
(1) As an option, a model with disconnector (no breaking capacity) can be supplied under the denomination CMSP.

CIRCUIT BREAKER
The vacuum circuit breaker consists of 3 vacuum poles. There

the back of the cubicle; and the moving one, oriented towards
the front of the cubicle, both of which are operated by the circuit
breaker mechanism.

FUSES
In CMP-F cubicles the fuses are mounted on sliding carriages
which are inserted in fuse holder tubes made of insulating resin.
The three tubes are placed inside the gas tank being perfectly
sealed off from the gas. When they are closed they are also
sealed off from the outside, which ensures that they are not
affected by external pollution even in case of a flooding. This
is achieved by a quick-locking device with a built-in sealing
flexible membrane.
