a. Challenges on the Implementation of Philippine TVET system

The successor plan, NTESDP 2011-2016, which is due to be completed in the first quarter

2011, will seek to address the challenge of balancing the need to reach the grassroots and the

vision of increasing absorption rates of TVET graduates.4 The major problem in the

Philippine labor market is the existence of supply-demand mismatches which leads to

structural unemployment – a situation where there are plenty of available jobs that could not

be filled up by our existing manpower while there are jobless people who can’t find jobs due

to lack of skills. Geographical mismatches also occur in which there is surplus labor in other

areas while a dearth of labor supply is being experienced in other regions. This is basically

due to the following causes: 1) inadequate market intelligence; 2) non-responsive/inflexible

training programmers; 3) inadequate investments on education and training systems; 4) low

quality learning inputs/outputs; and 5) mismatch in skills formation with job requirements.

In the focus group discussion among the various stakeholder groups, a number of challenges

surfaced in line with the promotion of TVET in the country.

1. Make a reaction paper on the said issue using this format

a. Introduction

Technical and vocational education and training program is also known as TVET has

been widely acknowledged as one of the most important subjects in the educational

system. The purpose of this study is to examine the existing literature specifically

from the lenses of students’ perspectives on their interests and behaviour

towards TVET as their chosen subject matter for their educational journey. The

authors reviewed 15 articles within the 2008-2018 publication years.

b. Body

The importance of the TVET sector to national development has been recognized

globally. Despite this fact, the countries of South Asia such as Pakistan, Afghanistan,

Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka have low interest in TVET. The main

reason behind this is a poor perception of society about TVET which is eventually

responsible for the low enrolment profile (Parrya & Hayden, 2015).Nevertheless, the

enhancement of the economic contribution by technically trained labor force and the

fulfilment of the need of the informal sector by nurturing the basic skill, there are two

basic challenges along with other several issues for the Pakistan and South Asians

countries with respect to skilful labor force. In the first instance, TVET has then been

deemed historically associated with second–class system, where people have to work

with their hands when engaged in menial jobs and do not participate in the category

of education which is appropriate for the first-class system, even though the highest
experience and skill is prerequisite in order to have training in a profession (Yunos,

Lai, & Hamdan, 2017). Secondly, a notion of a worthy life has thus been obliquely

formed around the ideal of civilized liberty.

c. Conclusion ( a brief statement restating your opinion on the topic )

Student interests play a significant role concerning their choices of profession. If students

were aware of their interest and acquire the required skills, they could choose

appropriate professions. From the finding it can be concluded that a combination

of factors effect students interest, it can acts as guidance to strategize and to

promote the TVET sector.

II. ASSIGNMENT

1. Do you consider yourself as a 4.0 equipped learner? If yes, describe yourself as a 4.0

equipped learner. If not, how will you become a 4.0 equipped learner?

I learnt this type of study utilizing technology since I studied it well and the internet can

help me with what I don't know, but there are some areas that I struggle with because I

lack equipment and have no concept. Even if I search for that subject, nothing comes up,

and there is no conversation with the teacher for me to learn, so that's all I know and the

outcome.
