1. India's GDP in first quarter of current fiscal grows at 13.5 percent, fastest in a year
According to the provisional estimates by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, the
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country for the April-June quarter of the current financial year grew
at 13.5 per cent.
Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing sector rose 4.5%. The manufacturing sector grew 4.8% and the
Construction sector appreciated by 16.8%.
2. India becomes fifth largest Economy of world with IMF's growth forecast of more than 7% this year
India has surpassed the United Kingdom to become the world's 5th biggest economy. In a tweet, Finance
Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, the International Monetary Fund's own forecasts show India overtaking
the UK in terms on an annual basis this year. This has put India, the Asian powerhouse, just behind the
US, China, Japan and Germany.
National
1. INS Vikrant, India's First Home-Built Aircraft Carrier, Commissioned
INS Vikrant, India's first home-built aircraft carrier, was formally commissioned after completing almost a
year of sea trials. The 45,000-tonne warship has been built at a cost of ' 20,000 crore. PM Modi also
unveiled the new Naval Ensign. The Navy had earlier said the new insignia will be befitting the rich Indian
maritime heritage.
2. Reliance Industries to build world's largest carbon fibre plants.
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, in the 45th AGM on Monday, announced to build India's first
and one of the world's largest Carbon Fibre plants at Hazira, Gujarat. The plants will have a capacity of
20,000 MTPA based on Acrylonitrile feedstock. Overall, in the Oil to Chemical segment (O2C), Ambani
Ambani announced an investment of '75,000 crore
3. New Delhi's historic Rajpath & Central Vista lawns to be renamed 'Kartavya Path'
The government has decided to rename the historic Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the national capital
as 'Kartavya Path'. Rajpath was known as Kingsway during British Rule.Earlier, the name of the road on
which PM's residence is located was changed from Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg.
4. Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for 2022-23
The Government of India has launched a Scheme Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for
2022-23. Under this Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States Governments in the form of 50-
year interest free loan for capital investment projects.
5. Amazon setting up its first solar project in India
Amazon announced the setting up of its first solar farm in India. The e-commerce major will be setting up
three solar power projects with a capacity of 420 megawatt (MW) in Rajasthan. These would include a 210
MW project to be developed by ReNew Power, a 100 MW project to be developed by Amp Energy India,
and a 110 MW project to be developed by Brookfield Renewable Partners
6. Op 'Megha Chakra': CBI conducts searches in 21 states/UT against child abuse material
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches in 21 states/Union Territory in relation to
the circulation and sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
CBI launched the operation - code-named 'Megha Chakra' - following inputs from Interpol headquarters,

1. FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022: VAR To Make Debut In Age-Group Showpiece In India
The upcoming FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India will see the Video Assistant Referee (VAR)
technology making its debut in the age-group showpiece.
The U-17 Women's World Cup in India will be the third FIFA women's tournament to utilise VAR following
the U-20 Women's World Cup Costa Rica 2022 and the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019.
2. Home Minister Shri Amit Shah launched 36th National Games Anthem and mascot in Ahmedabad
The curtain raiser event of 36th National Games was held at the EKA Arena TransStadia in Ahmedabad.
The 36th National Games, whose theme is Celebrating Unity Through Sports, are being held after a gap of
seven years and will take place from September 29 to October 12. The Games were last held in Kerala in
2015.

3. In Football, India beat Nepal 4-0 to clinch SAFF U-17 Championship Title in Colombo
In football, India clinched the SAFF under-17 Championship title, defeating Nepal 4-0 in the final in
Colombo. India captain Vanlalpeka Guite was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, while
goalkeeper Sahil won the Best Goalkeeper awards.
4. Vinesh Phogat wins bronze in World Wrestling Championships in Serbia
Vinesh Phogat has become the first Indian woman wrestler to win two medals at the World Championships
after clinching a bronze in 53 kilogram category in Belgrade, Serbia. The Commonwealth Games 2022 gold
medalist defeated reigning European champion Emma Malmgren of Sweden.This is her second bronze
medal at the Championships after the 2019 event.
5. India to host maiden MotoGP race in 2023; to be labelled as 'Grand Prix of Bharat'
MotoGP commercial rights owner Dorna and Noida-based race promoters Fairstreet Sports signed a MoU to
host the premier two-wheel racing event in India for the next seven years.
The Buddh International Circuit, which will be hosting the MotoGP race, was once home to the Formula 1
Indian Grand Prix, held for three consecutive years from 2011 till 2013.

1. WCD celebrating the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 across the nation from Sep 1 to 30th September
The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 from 1st
to 30th September 2022.
This year, the objective is to trigger Poshan Maah through Gram Panchayats as Poshan Panchayats with
key focus on 'Mahila aur Swasthya' and 'Bacha aur Shiksha'.
In the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah the aim is to convert Jan Andolan into Jan Bhagidari.
2. Cabinet approves Rs 27k-cr scheme for setting up over 14k PM-SHRI schools
Union ministry approved a Rs 27,360-crore scheme for the development of over 14,000 schools across the
country as PM Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI), which is expected to benefit 187 lakh students. Under
the scheme, over 14,000 schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas as well as
schools run by state governments and local bodies, will be strengthened
3. PM Matsya Sampada Yojana completes Two years; to generate 68 lakh employments by the end of
2024-25
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) completed its Second anniversary. The scheme
envisages the generation of 68 lakh employment by the end of 2024-25. The Fisheries sector has shown an
impressive growth of 14.3 per cent from 2019-20 to 2021-22.
4. Govt announces extension of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for next 3 months
The Central government announced an extension of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for
another three months until December 2022. Under this scheme, 5 kg ration per person is given to
beneficiaries. This is in addition to the ration given under the public distribution system. Financial
implication for the Central government has been about Rs.3.45 Lakh Crore.

1. Govt appoints Thomas M Devasia as member of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of
India
The government has appointed Thomas M Devasia - a senior executive from the private sector - as
member (non-life) in the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Thomas M
Devasia is currently technical expert at Marsh Insurance Brokers India working in Kochi, Kerala.
2. Angola's Joao Lourenco takes oath of office for second term as president
The National Electoral Commission announced Joao Lourenco as the President of Angola. Lourenco, 68, was
sworn in alongside Esperanca da Costa, the nation's first female vice president, at Praca de Republica
square in the capital, Luanda. President Joao Lourenco is a member of the Popular Movement for the

3. Former India hockey captain Dilip Tirkey unanimously elected as president
Dilip Tirkey, a former India hockey captain and member of the gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Asian
Games, was unanimously elected as Hockey India (HI) president today. First time in history, a former
sportsperson and an Olympian has gone on to head the national body.He represented India at the Olympic
Games in Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000, and Athens in 2004.
4. NPCI re-appoints Dilip Asbe as MD and CEO for five years
The shareholders of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) approved the re-appointment of
Dilip Asbe as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a period of five years, the organisation.
He took over as CEO from former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive Abhaya Prasad Hota in 2018.

1. Indian Army Contingent Participates in Exercise Vostok- 2022 at Sergeyevsky, East Military District
Russia
An Indian Army contingent of troops from 7/8 Gorkha Rifles is in Russia to participate in the multilateral
strategic and command Exercise Vostok ' 2022. for the next seven days (Sept 1-7, 2022) at the training
grounds of the Eastern Military District of Russia they will be undertaking joint manoeuvres.
2. PM Modi unveils new Naval Ensign 'Nishaan' at Cochin Shipyard in Kochi
PM Narendra Modi unveiled the new Naval Ensign 'Nishaan' at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi, doing
away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage. Naval Ensigns are flags that
naval ships or formations bear to denote nationality. The current Indian Naval Ensign consists of a St.
George's Cross -- a red cross with white background.
3. DRDO & Indian Army successfully conduct six flight-tests of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system
off Odisha coast
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Army have successfully completed six
flight-tests of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system from Integrated Test Range (ITR)
Chandipur off the Odisha coast. The flight tests were conducted as part of evaluation trials by the Indian
Army.
4. INS Satpura & P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft to Participate in Multinational Naval Ex Kakadu hosted by
Royal Australian Navy
INS Satpura and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft arrive in Darwin in Australia to Participate in Multinational
Naval Ex Kakadu hosted by the Royal Australian Navy. The two-week-long Exercise,both in harbour and
sea,involves ships and maritime aircraft from 14 Navies.The ship's crew will engage in operational planning
interactions and sports activities with participating Navies
5. Indian Navy decommissions INS Ajay after 32 years of glorious service
The ceremony was conducted at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai in the traditional manner, wherein the national
flag, naval ensign and the decommissioning pennant of the ship were lowered for the last time at sunset,
signifying the end of the ship's commissioned service
INS Ajay was commissioned on January 24, 1990 at Poti, Georgia in the erstwhile USSR.
6. Indian, US Coast Guards hold joint drill 'Abhyas'
Coast Guards from India and America conducted joint exercise Abhyas off the coast of the southern Indian
city of Chennai.Joint exercise 'Abhyas-01/22' marked the culmination of the four-day goodwill visit of the
US Coast Guard ship Midgett to Chennai.The focus of the exercise was to familiarise the personnel of Coast
Guards of both the nations with each other's capabilities
7. INS Sunayna enters Port Victoria Seychelles to participate in annual training exercise Operation
Southern Readiness
The INS Sunayna entered Port Victoria Seychelles to participate in the annual training exercise Operation
Southern Readiness of Combined Maritime Forces. This marks the maiden participation of an Indian Navy
ship in Combined Maritime Forces exercise. The joint training exercise is being attended by representative
from India, the US, Italy, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand It also has ship participation from the UK
and Spain.

1.Comedian Raju Srivastava Passes Away At The Age Of 58
Popular comedian Raju Srivastava, who had been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in
the Capital, about six weeks ago, passed away.
2.Legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passes away
In Bihar, the doyen of Bhojpuri folk theatre art 'Launda Naach' and legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi
passed away. 97-year old Manjhi breathed his last in a hospital in Patna.
He was born in a family of weaker section of society in a riverine village Tujarpur in the Nagra block of
Saran district in Bihar.
3.Cyrus Mistry, former Tata Group chairman, passes away
Former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident on September 4.
Mistry was the chairman of Tata Group from 2012 to 2016. He had taken over as chairman in December
post-Ratan Tata's retirement.

Gautam Adani became the first Asian to reach the top 3 richest list on Bloomberg Billionaire's Index. At a

person in world.
Elon Musk retained the top spot with his net-worth touching $251.4 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos ($153.4

Nikhil Kamath, the cofounder of Zerodha, topped the 'IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich
List 2022' with a net worth of Rs 17,500 crore. Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, came in second place
(Rs 11,700 crore), and Divyank Turakhia of Media.net in third place (Rs 11,200 crore).
3. Canadian city Markham names street after AR Rahman, composer says he is 'grateful'
After Markham, a city in Canada, honoured AR Rahman by naming a street in his honour, the celebrated
music composer said he now feels more responsible to keep working hard and inspiring people.
Rahman, who completed three decades in the Indian film industry earlier this month, penned a note of
gratitude for the authorities of Markham in Ontario, Canada on Twitter.
4. Indian FMCG company Pintola ropes in Sunil Chhetri as brand ambassador
Homegrown superfood brand Pintola has signed Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian Football team, as
the face of its nut butter brand in a multi-year. This is going to be Chhetri's first ever collaboration with a

1. IndiGo joins WEF's sustainable initiative
The country's largest carrier IndiGo has joined a sustainable initiative spearheaded by the World Economic
Forum (WEF). The airline has become a signatory to the Clear Skies for Tomorrow, India Coalition
campaign.
It will help in achieving a significant scale for SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). Clean Skies for Tomorrow
was launched in January 2019.
2. Over 99% population breathes air exceeding WHO's PM2.5 guidelines: Report
Over 99% of India's population is breathing air that exceeds the World Health Organisation's health-based
guidelines wrt PM2.5, a report by Greenpeace India.
According to the key findings in the report titled "Different Air Under One Sky", the greatest proportion of
people living in India are exposed to PM2.5 concentrations more than five times the WHO guidelines

UP: Bhartaul becomes first village in state to have RO water in every household
As part of the Adarsh Gram Panchayat initiative, Bhartaul village in Bareilly district has become the first
village in the state to have RO water in every household.
The village is already established under 'Adarsh Gram Panchayat'. 4 RO plants have been installed to
provide clean water to all. More plants will be set up. It will save people from water-borne diseases.

1. National Nutrition Week 2022: 1st to 7th September
Each year, India celebrates National Nutrition Week (NNW) from September 1 to September 7.
Since 1982, the Indian government has been conducting National Nutrition Week to educate citizens about

The theme for this year is 'Celebrate a World of Flavors'. NNW first observed in March 1975 by the
American Dietetic Association.
2. Cabinet approves signing an MoU between India & Govt of Nepal on biodiversity conservation
The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Ministry for
signing an MoU with the Government of Nepal on biodiversity conservation.
It is aimed at strengthening and enhancing coordination and cooperation in the field of forests, wildlife,
environment, biodiversity conservation, and climate change.

Bernadette J. Madrid, a children's rights advocate from the Philippines, Sotheara Chhim, a mental health

Tadashi Hattori, a sight-saving humanitarian from Japan.
Incepted in 1958, the Ramon Magsaysay Award is named after the late Philippine president.
4. Kalyan Chaubey beats Bhaichung Bhutia to become AIFF president
Kalyan Chaubey defeated Bhaichung Bhutia to become the All India Football Federation (AIFF) president.
Chaubey, a former Mohun Bagan and East Bengal goalkeeper won 33-1 against former captain, Bhutia.
This is the first time in the history of the Federation that a former player has become its President.

AIFF Secretary General.
5. Barack Obama wins Emmy award for his narration in Netflix documentary
The former President of the United States Barack Obama won Emmy Award for his narration in the Netflix
documentary 'Our Great National Parks". Obama already has two Grammys and is now halfway to an
EGOT.
Dwight D Eisenhower was the first US President to win Emmy Award. He was given a special Emmy Award
in 1956. Barack Obama is the second President to win the honor.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched the Gujarati translation of his book, 'The India Way:
Strategies for an Uncertain World' in Gujarat.

7. Liz Truss elected UK PM, 3rd woman PM to hold UK reins
Mary Elizabeth Truss, prominently referred to as Liz Truss was announced as the next prime minister of the
United Kingdom, after she defeated rival Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party leadership race.

Truss, 47, had emerged as a contender for the prime ministerial role after her predecessor Boris Johnson
agreed to step down.
8. Indian GM Aravindh Chithambaram wins Dubai Open chess tournament
Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged champion in the 22nd Dubai Open chess tournament on
Sunday, with 7.5 points as seven Indians finished in the top 10.
This is sixth overall, fifth individual triumph of the year out of the eight tournaments he played. The last
tournament he played was over 1.5 months ago which he won at 41st Benasque Open 2022.
9. ISRO successfully demonstrates new technology with Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (IAD)
An IAD developed by VSSC, has been successfully test flown in a Rohini sounding rocket from
TERLS,Thumba.
The IAD has systematically reduced the velocity of the payload through aerodynamic drag and followed the
predicted trajectory.
The IAD has huge potential in variety of space applications like recovery of spent stages of rocket, for

10. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat top states in implementing Poshan Abhiyaan scheme: NITI
Aayog
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have been ranked as the top three states among larger states in
terms of the overall implementation of the Centre's flagship Poshan Abhiyaan, according to a Niti Aayog
report. Sikkim was the best performer among the small states. The report was titled 'Preserving Progress
on Nutrition in India: Poshan Abhiyan in Pandemic Times'
11. Telangana recommends World Heritage tag for 2 megalithic sites
After achieving the UNESCO World Heritage tag for the Kakatiya Rudreshwara temple (Ramappa temple),
Telangana has proposed two monuments with architectural and astronomical magnificence for coveted
recognition this year. Heritage Telangana has listed Niluvurallu in Mudumal village of Narayanpet district
and Chaya Someshwaralayam as the sites that deserve due recognition.

The 61st edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament began after a gap of two years, at

13. Moxie, a NASA experiment, successfully produces oxygen on Mars
The MIT-led Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment, or MOXIE, has been successfully making
oxygen from the Red Planet's carbon-dioxide-rich atmosphere since April 2021, about two months after it
touched down on the Martian surface as part of NASA's Perseverance rover and Mars 2020 mission. MOXIE
has shown that it can make oxygen at almost any time of the Martian day and year.
14. Neeraj Chopra wins maiden Diamond League title in Zurich with best throw of 88.44m; first Indian to
do so
Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra threw a strong 88.44m to become the first Indian to be the Diamond
League Champion.He achieved the feat at the annual league's grand final in Zurich.
Chopra defeated Czech Republic's Jakub Vadljech (86.94m) and Julian Weber (83.73m)
He was also the first Indian to qualify for the Diamond Race when he topped the Lausanne Diamond
League 2022.
