D. RESEARCH ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1. Administrative achievements in teaching, research or patient service


Professor 2, Initially appointed as Lecturer 1 in June 1996.

Started working fulltime as Instructor 4 at the UP College of Pharmacy
starting January of 1998, after contract with the Marine Science
Institute as University Research Associate ended.
College Secretary, Administrative functions include managing records system of students
July 2010 to June and faculty members, managing registration, assisting the Dean in
2016 planning and managing College activities and performing other duties
called for by the University.

Among the projects initiated and implemented are Summative
Evaluation of the MS Pharmacy program of the College, creation of a
the Adviser’s Manual (revised every 2 years to accommodate changes
in the enrollment process), creation of the Graduate Student
Handbook for MS Pharmacy students, computerization of the Student
Evaluation of Teachers at the College and Environmental Scan of
Pharmacy Schools and Programs in the ASEAN and the Philippines (to
serve as guide for the Curriculum Committee in the revision of the BS
Pharmacy and BS Industrial Pharmacy curricula). Ongoing projects
include tracking of graduates of the College in the last 5 years,
assessment of student attrition in the College and development of RSA
tracking system/ database.
Department Chair Administrative functions include management of academic matters
(Pharmacy), June and conduct of the Department.

Sciences, NIH

Initiated the provision of drug analytical services by IPS. The analytical


service, formerly implemented by the College, was transferred to IPS
temporarily to allow for a more systematic handling of the services.
This was also seen as a strategy to publicize and formalize the
introduction of the Institute to the different stakeholders of the
pharmaceutical industry. Partnerships with UP Diliman and UP Los
Banos were likewise created resulting to research proposals in drug
development.
University Served to assist on the project entitled “Development of Philippine
Research Polysaccharides for Food and Industrial Applications” at the Marine
Associate, January Science Institute in UP Diliman.

1997
The project primarily aimed at development of pharmaceutical
products that uses polysaccharides in its formulation. Among products
developed are clear gel soap, liquid soap, suppository etc.
Science Research Served to assist on the project entitled “Pre-formulation Studies on
Specialist, August Terpinen-4-ol Zingiber purpureum R. (Zingiberaceae) at the College of

Scope of work included extraction of oil, testing for compatible


excipients in the formulation, testing of sample for biological activity
and preliminary stability tests.
