//X Section A
• Choose correct answer from the given options. [Each carries 1 Mark] [5]
1. The dimensional formula of mobility is .......... .
(A) M–1L1T2A1 (B) M1L0T–2A–1 (C) M1L–1T–2A–1 (D) M–1L0T2A1
2. A carbon resistor has three bands as Brown, Black and Green in order. What will be the range
of resistance it offers.
(A) 7 ´ 105 W ¾ 13 ´ 105 W (B) 9 ´ 105 W ¾ 11 ´ 105 W
(C) 8 ´ 105 W ¾ 12 ´ 105 W (D) None of these
3. Electric current is ...... .
(A) scalar quantity (B) vector quantity (C) derived quantity (D) simply a number
4. Current density in a copper wire is 2.5 ´ 108 Am–2. If 8A current is flowing through it diameter
of the wire is....
(A) 0.2 mm (B) 0.2 cm (C) 0.2 m (D) 2 mm
5. Resistance of conductor depend on ...... .
(A) type of material (B) temperature of conductor
(C) dimension of conductor (D) all of above

//X Section B
• Write the answer of the following questions. [Each carries 3 Marks] [21]
1. Derive relation between drift velocity and current density.
2. Write limitations of Ohm’s law.
3. What is meant by parallel connection of resistors ? Derive equation of parallel resistance.
4. What is Wheatstone bridge ? Explain its principle.
5. Explain comparison of emf of two cell by using potentiometer with necessary diagram.
3.3)
6. An electric toaster uses nichrome for its heating element. When a negligibly small current passes
through it, its resistance at room temperature (27.0 °C) is found to be 75.3 W. When the toaster
is connected to a 230 V supply, the current settles, after a few seconds, to a steady value of 2.68 A.
What is the steady temperature of the nichrome element ? The temperature coefficient of
resistance of nichrome averaged over the temperature range involved, is 1.70 ´ 10–4 °C–1.
7. ) In a meter bridge as per figure, the null point is found at a distance of 33.7 cm from A. If now a
resistance of 12 W is connected in parallel with S, the null point occurs at 51.9 cm. Determine the
values of R and S.

corners of a cubical network consisting of 12 resistors each of resistance 1 W (figure). Determine
